hi! sorry im new to wikipedia... well, i work for coolermaster and knowingly and willfully mention this in my username, and used my work email address as i dont want to pretend to be an unbiased individual. its been bothering me for a while that there isnt a proper page about coolermaster... and whoever originally created it wrote it in pretty bad english, left out a lot of info, and the overall info was greatly outdated (2009)

i read the note on conflict of interest, while its very noble, in reality i can create an "anonymous" account from home or via my phone and then edit the page. so i am not sure if i understood it right... you basically want me to PRETEND i dont work for coolermaster?

on forum communities its usually the other way around, company reps identify themselves as such, which puts everything they say into context. that way their content can be understood and edited and controlled a lot better than "forcing" them into anonymity... my boss didnt even ask me to update the coolermaster page, its not part of my job description, and while i did it at work, during my work time, i pretty much did write it as a private person. you can flag the content as BIASED, i even thought of doing this myself, because i AM biased, obviously... feel free to check, none of the information is misleading or wrong, i just mention the company and department history, the product lines and products that coolermaster is well known for.

So... please let me know how to proceed! And with all due respect, i strongly suggest to revise the wikipedia policy and create an "official representative" user category for wikipedia users. maybe all content written by those users can be displayed in a different color? and they get restricted user rights and cant edit or remove content, and only add content and then edit their own previous content?

Sorry, i didnt know i have to sign my reply here, just saw the reminder on this page. I really really like wikipedia and the community keeping it alive. I dont want to cause you guys any headaches, so just let me know how to proceed. If possible, just edit my username and use my private email address (saschakrohn at yahoo dot de) and i will make sure i post as an individual. or suspend my account and i re-register a private account... i hope in either case the content i created can be kept and flagged as "biased", and others review it... if it has to be removed, so be it... i can see how its for the greater good to not break the wikipedia policies...

PS: a youtube tutorial on wikipedia would be great, its really confusing and not easy to get into this system never having worked with it before.

So everything i added to the coolermaster page has been removed? sigh... why? i added a lot of useful information, what product categories coolermaster has, what famous products they created... this is really frustrating...

just to be clear, IF i create a new private account at home, and then add content again, will it be removed again because i work for coolermaster? even if i do it in my own private time because i as an individual want to? Sfk-coolermaster (talk) 02:00, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

While it is possible to directly edit articles where you have a conflict of interest, it is discouraged. If you do, you need to make sure that you declare the COI on the article talk page. For example, I started an article on an ancestor of mine from early 1800's. Since I had a COI, I declared it, and submitted the article to our Articles for Creation board, where it was reviewed by other editors before it was moved to mainspace as an article. These editors checked the neutrality of the article, the references, the notability, and made sure that it was not promotional before they approved it. In your case, I would recommend that if you see a problem with an existing article or a needed addition, that you place the material on the article's talk page and ask for comment by other editors. Thanks! so how do i declare the COI and get the article reviewed? is there any way to get the content back that was deleted by somebody else because i apparently didnt make the COI clear enough? God this is so confusing... so many rules and it feels like im coding wikipedia instead of just writing and editing content... is it a lot of work to go through this process? because if it is, ill just stop using wikipedia... this is so time consuming and confusing, and all these rules...

The easiest way is to just post on the article's talk page (such as Talk:Cooler Master) that you work for the company and have a COI, then on the same page say that you want to add the following content, posting the proposed content below your COI announcement. If it is a new article, use the New Article Wizard at WP:WIZ. It also has some good links on how to write the article. Good luck. GregJackP Boomer! 11:33, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

thanks greg! :) unfortunately i ran into you too late it seems... all the revisions i made have been removed by some other moderator/admin, even though i told him i work for coolermaster. writing it all again and revising the site again is frustrating enough jumping through all these hoops to MAYBE get all the content i wrote back on there is really too much... Sorry, but im affraid ill turn my back on wikipedia and wont contribute anymore... i just cant take the extreme user unfriendly backend and rules, with the prospects of running into more grumpy mods/admins that just delete my hard work without even dropping a comment

On a positive note, i have a LOT more respect for all the people contributing to wikipedia, i had no idea what a pain it is to get content onto wikipedia and maintain it And i have a lot more respect for the good guys behind wikipedia like you :)

But really, wow... you guys must have an insane amount of overhead with this complex backend and all these bureaucratic rules

mhhhh so i got a notice that somebody replied to my topic in the "teahouse"? but how do i get to that topic? really, i tried to get there for 10 minutes now and im giving up... i cant believe how unorganized and user unfriendly wikipedia is... how do you guys manage to work on wikipedia like this?
