Supreme Court of New South Wales

edit

Where are you getting the hierarchical list from? I just came over to add a list of judges, only to find they're already there. I'd like to add the dates they were appointed and such, but it'd be nice to see the whole list first. :) Ambi 01:26, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Are you referring to the Supreme Court of Western Australia page? Because that is the only one I have done a list of judges for. I got the list of judges from the court's website. --Shadow007 13:11, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Philip VI

edit

Thanks! I just added my final major revision (at least, from this source), which talks about the campaigns of the Hundred Years' War under his reign. He actually pursued a fairly successful Fabian strategy against Edward until 1346, which is worth pointing out — the headlong charge at Crecy was really a failure of individual discipline rather than of strategy. Gordon Lightfoot

Can you check the date for "Early Lightfoot". This was changed soem time ago by an anon who's only other edits are vandalism. Thanks. Rich Farmbrough 17:03 8 April 2006 (UTC).

Yes, the date was wrong. According to Allmusic it was released in 1969. Have changed it accordingly. Shadow007 14:02, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mystery Girl

edit

"Brunette" for "(All I Can Do Is) Dream You" is incorrect - the co-writer is Billy Burnette. In addition to the song writing credits, I entered all personnel, instrument use and RIAA certification information. This took quite some time. Please have a care before reverting due to format concerns, which have not been made to the hundred-odd albums I have created or modified. Fantailfan 01:51, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I accept that appeal to precedent in Wikipedia is not a valid logical argument, considering its openness.
However, the revert re-introduced a data error I had corrected. After much thought, I recognize my point was that there must be a valid logical argument for data validity over format validity, when given a choice.
I also recognize that my ego and sense of accomplishment were hurt when the revert was made and that informed the tone of my earlier comment. It is not always Love Over Gold. Fantailfan 12:10, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you regarding "edit wars," which are childish, at best. Late at night I tend to get crankier than usual. My typos alone should be cause for checking my entries at least four times. Fantailfan 12:50, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gord's Gold

edit

Thank you for cleaning up my sloppy work. I do wonder why you removed the bit about Randy Newman doing work on one of the tracks. I didn't know about it until I read it on the Allmusic site and thought it was an interesting bit of trivia. --Bayyoc 03:54, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. The reason I removed the Randy Newman reference was because I felt that it would be more appropriate to mention it on the Summer Side of Life article, given that the track originally appeared on that album. AFAIK the track was not re-recorded, re-engineered or re-orchestrated just for the Gord's Gold album (like the first 10 tracks were).
Though, I got sidetracked after editing Gord's Gold and forgot to put the Randy Newman bit in the Summer Side of Life article. I will do so shortly or perhaps you can if you like. Shadow007 07:44, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi, sorry. "Minstrel of the Dawn" is on Sit Down Young Stranger not Summer Side of Life. My bad. I've added the Randy Newman trivia to that article. Shadow007 10:41, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Album This Is Where I Came In.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Album This Is Where I Came In.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Angr 08:53, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:WayneMartin.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WayneMartin.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Album_JCS.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Album_JCS.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Non-free use disputed for Image:Album_Sundown.jpg

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Album_Sundown.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 20:46, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

What to put on album art upload pages

edit

Hi, I noticed wikipedia is complaining about the images you uploaded. I've found a good way of doing the rationale, all you have to do is paste this template code into the "Summary" field when uploading:

{{Non-free media rationale |Article=**name of album** |Description=Cover for the album ''[[**name of album**]]'' by [[**band**]]. |Source=Derived from a scan of the album cover (creator of this digital version is irrelevant as the copyright in all equivalent images is still held by the same party). Copyright held by the record company or the artist. Claimed as fair use regardless. |Portion=Entire front cover, but does not include back or insides of original artwork |Resolution=Is only as much resolution as necessary to identify and show the style of artwork used for the article, not enough to be used for piracy. |Purpose=Illustrates the appearance of the album and identifies it by recognized features. |Replaceability=No free equivalent can equal this image (any would be a derivative of this artwork) |other_information= Image in this form is already widely distributed to identify the album as part of catalogs and reviews, so we degrade no market value by providing it ourselves.}}

(**something** means type this yourself and remove **s)

Also note that the things that this table says have to be true, but the main one to watch for is Resolution (I resize to 200x200).

Hope this is helpful,

File source problem with File:Sir James Mitchell.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Sir James Mitchell.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Barwick CJ.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Barwick CJ.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

edit

Hello, Shadow007. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
