Thierry Ako
Yes, you are absolutelly right by PRODing it. I created it long time ago, and unfortunatelly by that time, as I didn´t had many experience in making articles, I decided to start with less notable playes. That is unfortunatelly the reason why some of the articles are failing notability. Some of the players became notable soon afterwords, but others, like the case of Ako, didn´t. His club Zemun was usually a middle table top league side, and by then it looked more probable that they would return to top flight that going even further relegated, however the last option was the one that happend. So Ako insted of playing in top flight ended up in third league...
Thank you very much for your kind wishes, and I also take this opportunity to wish marry Christmas and all the best in 2012, and also to congratulate you for being such a fine WP contributor and one of the most dedicated members of our dearest project. Hi. Just to tell you that technically this player passes notability as he played with Zeta in the Serbian top flight between 2003 and 2006. See playerhistory.com where it is named "Prva Liga". I see where the trouble about adding stats in the infobox is: the point is that he played for Zeta since the second part of the 2003-04 season until the 2006-07 season, which was the first one of the independent Montenegro league, thus we miss the stats for that last season, which becomes the reason why we don´t have his stats for FK Zeta complete, thus left empty in the infobox... I´ll try to fix that somehow... FkpCascais (talk) 07:00, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Joren Dom
Joren Dom is a very promising Belgian footballer. He is a -23 international and had a professional contract with KV Mechelen (first division). After a loan spell to Rupel Boom (3th division), he is now a professional footballer with FC Dender (2nd Division) and reportedly on the transferlist for former giant Antwerp FC (2nd Division).

Indonesia Super League players PRODs
I noticed you proded a large number of players that have played in the Indonesian top divison yesterday. The Indonesia Super League is fully professional so I don't see the rationale behind your prods. Seems to be a worrying trend, as User:Annas86 also Prodded a number, the previous day some of which were contested others not, as stats were unavailable. Could you please send me an explanation, otherwise I will deprod the majority of them. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 21:09, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well the Indonesian Premier League article is claiming it's the top division & replaced the Super League as the top division. Although the Indonesia Super League is still in operation. Surely the Indonesian Premier League is fully professional given the fact it's the top division. This Indonesian football pyramid seems rather complex am I missing something. Surely we need a debate at WP:Footy about it's professionalism. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 21:41, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

- I wasn't referring to the two which you left Proded, I was referring to some which were prodded on the 8th of this month & the reason I asked you was because we were already discussing the topic so there was no need to be so blunt. Anyway since sending you the earlier message, I established there is a lack of verifiability that they played in the league so even if the Indonesian Premier League was upgraded to fully pro, they'd be deleted. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 16:39, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletions
Hi there,
I see the proposed deletions that you have made. I think that in most cases you are correct. However, Rafael Carbajal is now a professional coach. Shouldn't that constitute him having an article? Ramon Bailey can be deleted. Nenad Stojčić and Mirko Medić can be deleted. Mario Ostojić played for the Toronto Lynx while they were the top division. Shouldn't that make it OK for him to have an article?
Zoran Kokot should NOT be deleted though! He has made numerous appearances in the Iran Pro League. Please see his deletion entry page and please do not delete his page as that would be incorrect.
Thank you for letting me know of these proposed deletions.

Sourcing
Hi Sir Sputnik, as the discussions about Transfermarkt seem to have ended with GS, you and me mostly involved, I will really ask you please to allow me to clarify one last time the missunderstanding that obviously existed back there. I will also invite GS to participate here as I have a long editing relation with him and he is (along with you) among the editors I appreciate and respect the most, both on out project and wp generaly.
To start with, I apologise for taking your time back then and now here but I had some difficulties in explaining exactly how the webiste may be unreliable for some things, but reliable for others. As my last comments were left unresponded I am not 100% sure on how we agreed on that. I just wanted to sress out the following, that the website´s database has actualy 2 different parts: one is the database of players and their transfers, and the other is the "Performance data" which only includes data from the match reports. Now, if I didn´t missed anything, all the problems we had in the past were not related with match reports but with user-generated content: wrong past clubs, wrong years, height, nationality, etc. The only data that includes numbers of matches and goals which is not dependent on match reports is the national team numbers that appear on the profile page of the player. Even those are mostly right as the number is taken from some source, but the national team data is not really why transfermarkt is mostly used for.
What I am focusing in is "Performance data" of each player which is not user-generated and which is entirely created trough match reports. As I explained, when editing one player´s profile, there is no space for editing any league data. That data is menaged only trough match reports. Admins are those who edit the match reports and the appereances and goals are updated automatically to the "Performance data" of that player depending exclusively on them. So that is what I mean when i say that there is a major difference between the general information, and the one under the "Performance data" of each player. Now, the website has increasingly started following more and more leagues each year, and by following I mean that they start having admins that insert the match reports for those leagues. For exemple, they still don´t have anyone working the Montenegrin league, so if you go to any Montenegrin league player you will not find any Montenegrin league data at his "Performance data" page, only stats from the league´s they follow in case of having played in some. But, they follow most of other European leagues. I noteced they are the fastest website to update the league reports and they add them as soon as they come from the league official website (including all same data, line-ups, subs, cards, minutes of each of this events, even referee´s). Now, if you grab any player profile from the current SuperLige, exemple, we see the "Performance data of current season" down there, and that data corresponds to the Performance data for this season at this page. As you can see every single appereance has a match report. If we see further on the performance data page we see all data which the player has backed by match reports, and you can choose to see them by season, or by total. Now, what I need to explain is that those match reports are NOT user-generated, and they have been reliable I dare to say even more than from other generalistic websites. I have never found one single mistake in any match report and all mistakes I beleave we had earlier had not anything to do with match reports.
Now, GS, I really apologise if I was hard on you, but it was inevitable at some point for us to discuss this because you had an extremely bad point of view that was not objective in my opinion. I tryied to explain you several times on discussions about this, but you allways ignored me and continue to repeat the same thing I was calling your atention for. Now, you were certainly unaware, but you ignoring me on this meant that, either you don´t have consideration for me, or you simply beleave that I am not a good editor enough to know which website is reliable enough for being productive for our project and which is not. Basically, you never trusted me for telling you this, and you continued to make your judgment based on some past episodes. Now, I apologise once more for having been hard on you, and I really hope we can put this aside and continue making good cooperation as we did in the past, but I will also ask you please (including you as well, Sir Sputnik) to at least hear me and give me some credit, as I am certailnly not willing to do anything to harm our project, neither would I never defend anything that would bring phalse stats or anything of the kind. Can I at least ask you both to consider this arguments of mine, because until now most of the part related to Serbian SuperLiga and other related leagues, with sources used including Transfermarkt have been wotking quite fine. Basically, all I want is to keep it all this way and I saw everything in stake because of some past incidents on this website which are unrelated to what we use it for, which are mostly the match reports. FkpCascais (talk) 05:54, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'll repeat myself for the nth time - Transfermarkt cannot be trusted. Some stuff is wrong - even you admit that - so how are we to tell which bits are wrong and which are correct? If alternative sources exist which verify the site, then why not use them? GiantSnowman 14:48, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry GS, but you still absolutely refuse to give me any credit and I don´t understand why... "Transfermarkt cannot be trusted" you say, well sorry but it can be as trusted as Soccerway, which for some reason you support, and it is equaly "trustfull" as Transfermatky match reports. Can I ask you to find me one single mistake in a match report in Transfermarkt?
- GS, for notability purposes, Transfermarkt IS reliable as much as the best non-RS can be, because what matters for notability are league appereances, and those ONLY appear in players pages by match reports, which are NOT user-generated. Now, why should this fundamental aspect of the website suffer from some wrong height or other peripherical data? FkpCascais (talk) 00:34, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- The thing is that it isn't only peripheral data. All data related to transfers, essential information for BLP's, is user generated. Just as an example: Pelle Jensen. In case it's been fixed by the time you see it, the profile says that Mr. Jensen will transfer both to 1899 Hoffenheim and to an unknown club on 1 July 2012. Not only is this a clerical error caused by user-generation of content, but I can find no other source to confirm the transfer to Hoffenheim. There is a message board discussion on transfermarkt about the transfer citing an article in the print version of the Bild-Zeitung, but for football transfers Bild is of questionable reliability as well. All that being said, the main problem for me is our inability to seperate the allegedly reliable, and I am not convinced that it is, from the clearly unreliable. Those of us who are aware of the reliability problems with transfermarkt are only a minority of editors, an influential minority for football topics admitedly, but a minority nonetheless. If we continue to use transfermarkt as a source, even if only for the parts that you claim are reliable, it will be construed by less informed editors as a sign that all information on transfermarkt is reliable.
- With regards to your comparison to Soccerway, your analysis is incorrect. ALL material on Soccerway is subject to a sufficiently rigorous editorial review process, not just match reports, and as I've already outlined above, due to the mass contribution nature of Wikipedia, it is necessary to judge the reliability of a source as a whole. Not to mention the fact that there have been errors in preformance data that have had severe adverse affects on Wikipedia.
- Finally, to address your point about the rate of updates, I simply refer to the fact that Wikipedia is not a new source. It is not without reason that most statistical data on Wikipedia is by a date indicating up to when the statistics are accurate. It is better to have statistical information that is slightly out of date and sourced reliably, than to have information that is up to date but unsourced or unreliably sourced. Sir Sputnik (talk) 02:11, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I see, perhaps I was too presumptious that everyone will know which data from the website is useble and which isn´t. Also, I see the exemple of Jensen and there is still a double transfer there.
- But, and this is the main reason of what I want to say, the other non-RS sources have also numerous mistakes. For instance, Soccerway has been pretty clumsy for most Eastern European leagues for years, and only recently they made an effort to actually follow them, and they still have numerous mistakes: nationalities (for most teams I find nationalities included per default, exemple, all players in a Serbian club are mostly by default Serbian, while some may be Montenegrin, Bosnian, Croatian, etc. and they only fix it if a player comes to play for the national team; this nationality issue is not a minor deal there), then we have very incomplete squads, or, I found a couple of cases where two players with same surname were put as one. Not needing to say that having 3 seasons less than Transfermarkt is a major minus for Serbian SuperLiga, as Transfermarkt has all match-by-match data since 2006 while Soccerway has only since 2009 (and for some other leagues in the region the gap is even bigger). To be honest, yes, I noteced an improvement in Soccerway once they follow the league, and yes, I have started including them as source in numerous pages, but I often still need almost allways Transfermarkt to fullfill players stats, and that is why I focused on the match reports mostly.
- Now, if I go further comparing other acceptable non-RS, I conclude that our acceptance is random. Playerhistory which was once considered quite reliable has been having more and more frequent errors, beside not providing us any sources for their data (actually, I found out they took stats from us, which left me really disapointed with them). Then National-Football-Teams.com has often had complains. Zerozero? Come on... I can make you a list wrong clubs in wrong seasons for many players. Worldfootball (Weltfussball) has been similar, no detail, often scarse info, wrong nationalities... So, I actually concluded troughout experience that for the Balkans Transfermarkt was the most reliable and usefull one. I didn´t did this to annoy you guys, right the opposite, I even made an effort to switch to some other source, but I really couldn´t replace it totaly with any other, not even closely. This is the main reason of this, beside personaly for me, not making much sense to replace a website which has been impecable for Balkan leagues stats with some other which is also a non-RS but less reliable and much less complete...
- I do undertand now your issue of other editors not being familiarised with the websites like we are, but I still beleave that all websites have their stronger and weaker sides (we dont have a perfect website unfortunatelly) and we need to somehow menage to be aware which websites are more reliable for which geographical areas. For instance, Zerozero and Foradejogo have been quite reliable for Portuguese and Brazilian stats, while for others their info is pretty basic; SambaFoot for Brazil; Soccerway for Western Europe and major leagues; EU-Football.info for European national teams data; BDutbol for Spain; Fussballdaten for Germany; BDFA for Argentina and Latin America (excluding Brazil); 90minut.pl for Poland; Playerhistory and NFT none specific but a little bit of everything; etc. Now, many of these try also to be generalistic ones, but all fail to be perfect, and all we can conclude is that they are reliable for certain regions (their owns mostly), while for others they only make an effort... Now, I do have a method of acknolledging a level of reliability, and it has to do with the fact that I often check obscure players. Usually, if a website has good stats for obscure players it gives a good indication, and Transfermarkt has been good on that regarding European Eastern and Southestern leagues. I cannot escape from this conclusion.
- To conclude, I will, just as I allways did until now, incentivate the use of several sources: official ones if existent, Srbijafudbal or another historical database, and a current season one like Soccerway or/and Transfermarkt when necessary. Now, there are players which Socceway doesn´t have on their database because they only started following many of these leagues just a few years back, so it is inevitable that Transfermarkt will be usefull for some cases. Can we agree to be tolerant over this and Sir Sputnik and GS, can you at least try to confirm the match reports (league stats) of Transfermarkt when proding? If any of you has a better sugestion I am obviously willing to listen. FkpCascais (talk) 04:53, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
re: John Jairo Ruiz
Hello Sir Sputnik, I wanted to let you know I removed the PROD from this article. Although he is a young player, I believe there is significant coverage of his exploits in reliable sources (the Costa Rican online newspapers have dedicated many articles to his exploits and transfer to Lille). I realize that the Costa Rican Primera may not be fully-pro, but I think there is enough information available to write a decent, verifiable article which shows why the player is notable. I began expanding it (but my Spanish-language skills are lacking) and I suspect some of our Spanish-speaking editors can flesh it out further.
Please feel free to send it to AfD if you disagree. Best regards and keep up the great work clearing out the never-ending stream of non-notable FOOTY BLP stubs. Jogurney (talk) 20:05, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I was going to argue about the German external link. Then I noticed you're a BSC fan—so you have enough on your plate. Keep up the good editing and good luck next week in Düsseldorf!
Best regards
I am never sure how to properly contest a PROD so have contacted you.
If the Spanish fifth tier Primera Catalana is recognised as notable it would perhaps be helpful in this instance to provide a fuller explanation why a single season for 2010-11 is not notable. It is noticed that in Germany season articles for fifth tier leagues are sometimes covered e.g. Category:Hessenliga seasons and Primera Catalana could be a similar case. If a satisfactory explanation cannot be provided I would like to contest the PROD.
Kind regards

Hello Sir Sputnik. I wanted to leave a note that I've contested the PROD of this article. I realize that this goalkeeper has never played for Senegal, nor in a fully-pro league, but I believe he ought to pass the GNG (based on some work I did a few weeks ago) and he is notable enough based on his exploits in the Senegalese league (4 cup titles and 1 league title - as a captain of his club).
