AfD advice
Hello.. could you let me know if I need to AfD 2011–12 Eastleigh F.C. season too if I added it to 2013–14 Eastleigh F.C. season as a related page.
I am also nominating the following related pages for the same reason:
- 2011–12 Eastleigh F.C. season (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
2013–14 Eastleigh F.C. season AfD
- I just AfD 2011–12 Eastleigh F.C. season.. do I need to update it to link it with 2013–14 Eastleigh F.C. season?

Juventus Article
Hello, I just wanted to bring to your attention a major issue with regard to the Juventus article. There are multiple flag images of various countries, amongst other icons in place throught the page in areas where other photos, crests, and icons are originally in place. I am not sure how this is occuring because the icons are not in Wikipedia format, nor are they in the edit history of the page. I am not sure if this vandalism is taking place any where else, but I noticed it upon updating the current squad. Interestingly, when the page first load, the regular images are there but within a second or two, these other blurred images appear. I appreciate your help and I just wanted to bring it to the attention of a senior Wikipedia member. I hope you are able to address the issue. Juve10 (talk) 01:36, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
League of Ireland is professional
Hi there, just wondering why you said the League of Ireland is not professional and proposed the deletion of the Danny Morrissey article? All the players in the League of Ireland are payed and is that not the definition of a professional league? As far as Danny Morrissey goes, he has being capped at international U-19 level and he is commonly featured on TV and is also in the title of numerous articles on many Irish papers and RTE's website (He is also on the BBC website I may add).Tomh903 (talk) 19:16, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Contested deletion of Svay Rieng FC
This page should not be speedily deleted because... this is an actual club as per this ref that passes WP:GNG as they play in the top flight of Cambodian football. Fenix down (talk) 15:58, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- That doesn't change the fact that it was created in violation of block. If your prepared to take the article on and make substantial edits to it, the criteria will no longer apply, but otherwise it should clearly go. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:04, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Stephen Folan
Hello Sir Sputnik, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Stephen Folan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: While this was deleted previously via an AfD in 2010, I fail to see how this article can be identical to the deleted version since it clearly incorporates material from sources published after 2010. Moreover, the changes do appear to address the concerns brought up in the AfD. This article should be taken back to AfD rather than speedied. . You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talk • contribs) 20:03, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Deleted article restored
Hello, Sir. You tagged Ryan-Zico Black for speedy deletion under speedy deletion criterion G4, and I deleted it. I still think that your tag was valid, but, in view of discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2013 October 2, I have decided that there is sufficient doubt about how to apply CSD G4 that I have restored the article. This does not mean that I think that the article should not be deleted, it simply means that I think that there is sufficient doubt that I no longer think that it is sufficiently clear-cut for a deletion without further discussion, and you may take it back to articles for deletion if you wish to. Hi there SS, AL from Portugal "speaking",
since you helped me last week (and several times in the past if I'm not mistaken), could you help with yet another AFD please? Just refer to this message (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Royroydeb), and add additional word of advice if you see it fit. Article proposed for deletion
Hello. You have proposed Emir Dautović article for deletion. Is there a debate for such proposed deletions, for pro/against proposals? I did not find any and I belive there should be consensus before the article gets deleted?? I have seen on your talk page that you have done some deletions of players who even played pro football, and please take note not to delete anything on your own. Regards, Ratipok (talk) 20:38, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Firstly, good to know that Macedonian league is not considered as a pro league in wiki circles so I guess you did nothing wrong deleting that article, I have mentioned in my first post. Secondly, I have decided to object the proposed deletion and I will try to explain why. Although he has zero appearances, at this moment, in any of the pro leagues I disagree that he does not follow in any of the notability guidelines. There are a number of articles, transfer reports and even interviews (which is considered very uncommon for a prospect to be doing in Slovenia)[2][3] about Dautovic in Slovene, English and even Bosnian (I didn't bother to look elsewhere) from what I consider reliable sources (Independent, Skysports, Buissnesweek, a bunch of reliable Slovenian websites..). In early 2012 he was reported to be on trial with Manchester City [4][5] and about six months later he went on a trial with Chelsea. Later it was widely reported that Dautovic has signed with Chelsea for a reported fee of £1M [6], [7], [8], [9], [10] ... Why did the eventual transfer fall through or why is he still in Maribor I don't know, though I do believe that the main reason was his injury, for which he was sidelined for almost a year (knee operation) and has returned to Maribor U19 squad fairly recently. All this article coverage, speculations etc. where the main reason why I have decided to create this article in the first place. Also, five of his teammates from Maribor's junior team has already made league appearances during the current season and, providing that the injury is behind him, Dautovic will be making one by the end of this season, which means that the article will simply reappear within months. Regards, Ratipok (talk) 01:33, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Football Prods
You seem to be prodding a large number of long-standing Football articles without doing a thorough GNG search and without adding to the log at WikiProject_Football#Nominations_for_deletion_and_page_moves. Shouldn't long-standing pages with debatable GNG go through an AFD rather than a PROD? And shouldn't PRODs be listed at WikiProject_Football#Nominations_for_deletion_and_page_moves? I'm sure that most of the articles should be deleted, but without proper process and debate, the pages will quickly resurface. Nfitz (talk) 15:37, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
If you mean my PROD of Quillan Roberts, please say so explicitly. If you hide your principal concern from me, discussion is unlikely to yield any useful outcome. Regarding your concerns about this article, I refer you to my nomination statement at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Quillan Roberts. With regards to listing, the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Nominations for deletion and page moves is basically redundant since the advent of article alerts through which all articles PROD'ed articles within the scope of the project are automatically listed at the WP:FOOTY main page. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:15, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- No, I didn't mean your PROD of that player. I didn't see that, in itself, as a big issue. It's only later I noticed the pattern. A significant number of your PRODS appear to be of articles that aren't deleted. Prods should be for stuff that is unlikely to be contested and that there is no debate shouldn't be here. Just looking at your November prods alone, I don't know how many were contested, but about 30% weren't actually deleted! That's a lot of articles being Prodded that shouldn't be. I'd think the rate should be less than 5%. I'm also concerned that you'd assume I was discussing a different issue - doesn't that violate WP:FAITH. I thought I should have a discussion with you, before I do anythin. I fear that if 30% of stuff should never have been prodded, then has anyone actually looked properly at the other 70%? Thanks for the comment about the Article Alerts. Yes, that would make it redundant. I haven't been paying much attention lately ... I must have missed that starting. Also just looking at your AFD on Roberts. It notes he played in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool. It was a mid-season friendly ... Nfitz (talk) 17:41, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- I reject your assertion that any PROD which does not result in deletion is automatically inappropriate. Let's keep going with your November example. Of the eleven PROD's that didn't result in deletion, six were BLPPROD's in which in your argument about the necessity of debate is not applicable, and one was an honest mistake in which I accidentally PROD'ed that I had no intention PROD'ing, a mistake that I corrected myself. That leaves four articles in which you might argue that I misjudged controversy. If you take issue to that systematically, you'll quickly find that you'll have a problem with entire WP:FOOTY. You accuse me of not assuming good faith in my first response, and I'll admit there is a grain of truth to that, but I'd ask that you hold yourself to the same standard. If my deprod rate seems unusually high, try and figure out why that might be, rather than basing an accusation of inappropriate behaviour on unfiltered numbers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:59, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- Where did I not assume WP:FAITH? I simply expressed concern about the non-delete rate, and asked a polite question, without passing any judgement. I couldn't figure out why your deprod rate is so high (and still don't understand ... November doesn't seem to be an outlier). That's why I asked. Some should be AFDs ... and some seem to be arguably notable. I haven't had time to dig into many, or look earlier than November though ... that was most recent month I thought it was fair to look at (given that December prods might not yet be deleted). Fair enough, I haven't thought about BLPPRODs ... Nfitz (talk) 19:54, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Aivaras Bražinskas. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 02:46, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Why do once again violate WP:FAITH? Your welcoming someone to Wikipedia who has been here a lot longer than you have? Could you have possibly have phrased that slightly differently? It's clear from my edit comment, that I'd made an error, and thought I was removing a PROD, not an AFD. BTW, what's with prodding all those Motagua players? How can it ever cross one's mind that such a famous team in a well known league wouldn't be fully professional? Nfitz (talk) 02:53, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

Civility
You have undoubtedly noticed that I have not responded to your most recent comments to my talk page. This is largely because I felt I could not adequately respond without letting my emotions get the better of me. Yet I feel compelled to respond your most recent comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shaquille McDonald. I am posting this here since what I have to say is not relevant to the article in question. In this comment, you refer to my actions, and those of other editors who share my opinions and editing patterns as arsing, a waste time, idiotic, destructive and as WikiFail. Civility being one of the five pillars Wikipedia, I respectfully submit that if you cannot make a comment calmly, you should not be making it at all. Best Regards. Sir Sputnik (talk) 07:17, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- 1) I don't think I was referring to you in particular. 2) I don't see why anyone would take offence at this comment - it's a simple statement of irony ... that no one could be arsed to change it ... myself included. 3) I strongly believe that those who go around wasting everyone's time deleting marginal, but factually correct articles should find stop and find something useful and constructive to do. You might disagree with this, and that's your right. 4) I do believe all my comments were made calmly ... I was simply highlighting the irony of those in the project who were deleting articles, and yet hadn't maintained the project guidelines ... resulting in confusion and more wasted time. Not so
[11] Podolski isn't even on the current roster there. Are you sure you actually looked at that reference before stating, "[t]he source listed in the article to cite the current squad section lists Podolski as a midfielder" and then pointing me there? The reason I reverted you (and you're now in an edit war) is that I looked for a reference and found the Euro 2012 roster after hunting on the DFB site (in both English and German) and could not find support for the player's position. May I suggest a self-revert until you find a better source than mine? Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:12, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- I found one that supports midfield: http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=128&no_cache=1&action=showPlayer&player=podolski_lukas Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:20, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- First of all, I would hardly call three good faith reversions an edit war. In any case, for Podolski's most recent call-up against Paraguay, he was called as a midfielder. 1. The DFB has been calling him a midfielder for the better part of four years now, if memory serves. (Unfortunately, the WayBack Machine has no entries for the squad list prior to this summer.) Obviously this has caused some people to incorrectly move him to the forwards section, which is why I instinctively reverted this last set of edits, not realising that it was in the recent call-ups and not the current squad section. Sorry for the mix up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:34, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Doubt
Hi there SS, AL from Portugal "speaking",
just plain and simple curiosity: why is the 2011–12 Tercera División season wikilink in several articles (i.e. Spanish lower league clubs) being removed? First i thought it's because it pertained to a non-professional competition, but then i saw several others Tercera División season wikilinks are "allowed" to stay, as well as all the Segunda División B ones (SB is also a non-professional league).
I repeat, i am not questioning anything nor am i saying something is not being made properly, i'm just curious about the technicality. Attentively, happy editing --AL (talk) 19:06, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello! I noticed that you have tagged the article above for WP:PROD. I have already improved the article, as I look WP:GNG there is nothing that is inimical to the rules. He has managed/coached an under-23 Philippine football team, he is also the current manager of Global F.C. which by the way competed in an international competition, the AFC President's Cup which makes it notable. Also, the United Football League is the main football league in the Philippines said here, "The United Football League has been at the forefront of Philippine club football since it was revamped by the Football Alliance in 2009, Such has been the growth and development of the sport in the last three years that UFL clubs are now competing in regional tournaments like the AFC President’s Cup and Singapore Cup." If there is no issues to be solved, you may remove the template. Thanks! FairyTailRocks (talk) 01:52, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
There's a mention on the net [12] that he played for Muangthong United F.C. in the second leg of a third round 2010 Thai League Cup against Sisaket F.C., another Thai Premier League team. Refresh my memory ... do caps in league cup games against other fully professional teams meet WP:NFOOTY? Nfitz (talk) 02:58, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Hey! You deleted transfermarkt as source mentioning it's not reliable. To a certain degree I can understand your point of view, since transfermarkt's content is user generated like Wikipedia but does not state references. Although there is a high level of accurateness when it's about recent performance data, squads, etc. (especially all data created since it was acquired by Axel Springer and is used as reference at bild.de) In the case of squads of Turkish Süper Lig clubs it is even the most current and maintained source on the web. Hi. You just deleted a number of links to Nate Weiss, across a number of articles, given the old AfD. I've restored them. Please note that he is now notable per our notability standards. See http://www.socceramerica.com/article/41164/globetrotting-weiss-headed-to-chicago-on-trial.html I will in time write an article on him, as you may have seen -- directly before your deletions -- perhaps the prompt for your deletions, given the timing? -- I had left this note on the the page of user:CactusWriter.--Epeefleche (talk) 15:32, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, unrelated to the above, thanks for unlinking a redlink here after an article was deleted. However, in the case of list entries where notability has not been demonstrated, please go all the way and remove the entry – certainly on name pages, but this probably also applies to any other incomplete lists. – Fayenatic London 07:01, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Propsed Deletion of Ibrahim Coskun
Hello,
I'd like to copy my text on the talk page of Coskun. Please have a glance. Best Regards.
This player is a professionally contracted one by Galatasaray as of 14 January 2014 for 2.5 seasons.[13] He took a part of a Turkish Cup encounter which is top-pro level football cup in Turkey, deciding the team to represent Turkey at UEFA Europa League. He also played in 5 UEFA Youth League matches and scored once in which is accepted and ORGANIZED by UEFA. He also played in A2 (Reserve League) of Turkey in 2013-14 season.
As of today (27 April 2014) Fenerhabçe will achieve the title in Süper Lig which means the contention will be over for Gala, allowing team to promote younsters at remaining 3 weeks. This player will be a regular, soon at Gala or somewhere else. This is a promising player, already represented Turkey at varied youth levels.[14]
Considering that he played in a fully professional matches, he complies with WP:GNG and he must stay. If you are going to insist that he fails, unfairly, please go ahead to delete it. It will be recreated by someone else soon, irresistably. Umi1903 (talk) 10:00, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

I'm not so sure that the difference is British English vs. American English as it is more about the exact definition of the two terms. Kingjeff (talk) 04:02, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Baseball actually refers to them as managers. However, they're closer to head coaches. But more or less I have taken a football manager in the UK as a combined roles of head coach and and director of football. Kingjeff (talk) 05:42, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
I unprodded Ibrahim Hassan (footballer, born 1990). Perhaps I'm missing something, but lots of evidence he's played for Ismaily SC including a relatively recent photo - [15]. Nfitz (talk) 22:28, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi there SS, AL "here",
a small favour if you can: can you, after removing the unreliable TRANSFERMARKT.com from articles, replace it with the reliable SOCCERWAY.com (especially if it's a ref located in the statistics chart some players have in their articles below)? I will also pitch in that action, before i leave for good on 13 July (eight years now as an editor, feeling tired).
Thank you very much in advance, ask if you need anything before that date --AL (talk) 00:07, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Transfermarkt
I see you have been mass removing references to Transfermarkt, presumably on a semi-automated basis judging by the rate of edits. I'm aware of the reliability concerns over Transfermarkt, but surely a poor reference is better than no reference? If the references are problematic, wouldn't it be better to replace them with something else instead, per WP:PROVEIT? Or if all else fails, to remove the material instead of leaving it there unreferenced. Oldelpaso (talk) 17:30, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Oldelpasso: I have every intention of replacing the sources eventually. I just find it easier to work systematically and remove all the transfermarkt references first, and then replace them. It's just going to take some time. That being said, I have to disagree with your assessment. I think it is preferable to have a few unsourced articles in the short to medium term, than to encourage the proliferation of an already very prevalent, unreliable source. Proposed deletion of Fábio Prates
Hello,
Regarding the article about Fábio Prates, during the time I wrote it, the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras in which the player has played, was listed as a professional league under the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues and thus the player should not fail WP:GNG. I'm not sure why it has been removed from the list since.

Transfermarkt
I have noticed that in Giannis Loukinas' article you have removed two references from tranfermarkt. Is there any discussion that has concluded that transfermarkt is not a reliable source? I couldn't track one and I'd be really interested on reading it. Secondly, are you aware of any websites that keep data on international youth matches? I create many articles on football players and such info would be really helpful. Thanks in advance for your answer.Hansi667 (talk) 12:26, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Hansi667: It was discussed here, among other places. The bottom line is that too much of the data is user-generated for the site not to be considered a self-published source. As for youth caps, I know soccerway.com usually includes them, at the most recent ones. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:00, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi there. Just a cursory note that I removed your deletion tag on the above page as it is not a valid deletion criterion - the page is not an identical repost as required under G4 - and the player is now notable as he's appeared in a professional game (in the Europa League) for a pro club in an all-pro league. — foxj 20:58, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Removing links after AFD
I've noticed you like Removing link(s) to "[Player Name]": deleted by afd. I would very much appreciate if you would stop doing it to football squad templates and match (footballbox) summaries. As these only display the last name of the player, the custom is to keep it linked, even if red-link, so as you can see the first name. --SuperJew (talk) 17:06, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- I see your point if it's like a player in Arsenal or Barcelona because they are big teams, but when it's second/third tier teams, where the club page's last update is usually from a year ago (I just brought Oakleigh Cannon's squad up to date from 2012), so it is much harder to know. --SuperJew (talk) 18:32, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- And also re the notability, these players will be notable in about two weeks time when the season starts and they play a game or two. Unless a real rare injury happens, but that is very rare, like 5%, and even then they almost always will be notable the season after. --SuperJew (talk) 18:35, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Match Against Poverty
Hey Sputnik, thanks for your help with the Akwetey Mensah page. I have another question for you that I hope you have the knowledge to help me with. I created a page for the Match Against Poverty today and wanted to include the UNDP logo in the infobox. I know that UN images before 1987 are in the public domain so they can be freely put into wikipedia articles without breaking any copyright issues. I just wanted to double check with someone before I placed the UNDP image in the infobox so that I was 100% sure I wasn't infringing on any copyrighted material. If you or any other editors you are friendly with could help me out here and even edit and expand the page, that would be a big help. Thanks! Rupert1904 (talk) 17:30, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help mate! Rupert1904 (talk) 18:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- One more thing about the page. If you could take a quick look at in and tell me if you think it would be more appropriate for the matches to be in a table, like they are on the Portuguese wiki rather than a list, like they are in the German wiki, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rupert1904 (talk) 20:25, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Keidi Bare - national teams
Hello man. I saw your edit at Keidi Bare and since we are talking, I want to ask you a question and I will take as an example. It's about exactly national teams. Elis Bakaj isn't called up for his national team, Albania, for more than 12 months and so isn't included in the Squad and not even in the Recent call-ups. So my question is, should it write national years at Albania such as 2008–2013 or 2008–present. Thank you. Eni.Sukthi.Durres (talk) 10:12, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Eni.Sukthi.Durres: Best I can tell, consensus appears to be that end dates for international careers should only be included in infoboxes, if it can be sourced, i.e. if he's announced his retirement from international and/or club football, or if the manager or someone at the Albanian FA has said on the record that he won't be called up any more. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:10, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- It's ok, thanks for the answer, I wish you good work. Eni.Sukthi.Durres (talk) 20:23, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Honduras
Sir,
I included a citation that includes the following words "La Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras es el torneo de fútbol profesional más importante de Honduras". You removed it stating "Explicit" and "Precise" citation required. Can you please explain what you still need?
Op47 (talk) 19:11, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Op47: The edit summaries were mistakes on my part. I didn't realise the Profesional was spelled with only one "s" in Spanish and so I didn't find that paragraph when I searched for it. As a rule, home pages of larger site like that one don't usually have a lot of prose, so what I meant was that you needed to link the page that actually discussed professionalism, not realising that you already had. Sorry about that. That being said there are other issues with these edits as well, which is why I haven't self reverted. In the case of the article the Liga Nacional its a matter of style. Even before your edit, the lede of the article was poorly written, and introducing the word professional only made it worse, IMO. It seemed to suggest that there are higher division that aren't pro. I'll rewrite the section entirely when I have some time. In the case of WP:FPL, however, there are issues of substance as well. For the purposes of that list, there is a distinction made between professional and fully professional, and a passing mention like that without any sort of explanation of what is meant by "professional" in that context is far too vague to use it as a reference on that list. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:22, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
I do not understand
Hi, Sir
I do not understand the reality of what is the reason for deleting the subject for a player to play in the Premier League, and the subject incomplete, and there are external links which are considered as references and sources for his data base to the sports sites ميناء (talk) 21:19, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- @ميناء: In order to have an article on Wikipedia, a subject must meet certain criteria called notability. For footballers the relevant guideline is WP:NSPORT, which says that a footballer is notable if he has played for his country's national team, or in one of the fully professional leagues listed here. This is not the case for the three articles in question. Additionally, in the case of Mohammed Jabbar Shwkan, the article is not sufficiently different from the article deleted following this discussion, meaning the article meets on of the criteria for speedy deletion. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 21:26, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Sir Sputnik: Generally if these are the conditions existing here, actually I do not have an argument in defense of the objective
But I am surprised by these conditions that prevent writing on the subject of the famous player in his country, which plays in the Premier League, only that he did not play in the national team.ميناء (talk) 22:01, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
By the way I read here in Wikipedia for players did not play in the national team, and topics published long ago and did not delete ميناء (talk) 22:15, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Deletion
Hi, What should I do to articles about Fabrice Mbimba, Jun Jie Cui, Chan Man Kin, Risto Kägo, Fabian Malcolm, Bill Nicolls, Lui Muavesi (footballer, born 1980) remained in wikipedia? Bogic (talk) 13:18, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
@Bogic: I'm afraid there's probably nothing you can do. The issue with the subject of these articles, not the way they are written. In order to have an article on Wikipedia a subject must meet certain criteria, called notability. For footballers and football managers, there are two relevant notability guideline. The football-specific notability guideline, WP:NFOOTY, says that any footballer who has played for his country's national team or for a club in one of the fully professional leagues listed here. Played, in this context, means played an actual match. Simply being called up to the national team or signed to a fully-pro-league-club without actually playing is insufficient. For football managers, the rules are more or less the same. A manager who has managed a senior national or a club playing in a fully pro league is notable. The second guideline is the general notability guideline, which says that any subject that has received significant coverage in reliable sources is notable. In the context of football, significant coverage does not include routine sports coverage such as match reports, squad lists, transfer announcements and speculation, etc. I hope that clears thing up. - In the former USSR championships were played among professional teams called the master teams (Russian: команда мастеров), and the championship among amateur teams, called teams of physical culture (Russian: коллектив физической культуры). The team received the status of a professional team she had to win the regional championship among amateur teams. For example: Only in 1950, when the "Steel" was renamed "Metallurg", the club took part in the championship of the republic. Two years later, Zaporozhye club has managed to become the champion of Ukraine, so he got the status of the masters team and received the right to act in the national championship teams of class "B". MtG Succession Box
Heya Sputnik, I'd like your opinion on the succession boxes, for example on Raphaël Lévy's page. It says 2012–13 Team World Champion. Wouldn't it be less confusing if it just said 2013 instead? Similarly with National champion? Personally, I think it'd be better to just use the year the WMC was held rather than the pro season that fed the WMC. For PoY & RoY, using the season is of course necessary (as well as the official standard), but otherwise I wouldn't. Hahahopp (talk) 09:26, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Consistency debate
First of all, Happy New Year. There's a discussion on WT:FOOTY which for some reason has to do with consistency. Someone told me I was making an inconsistent edit on a player article by linking one club by its fullname while the other clubs in the article have shortened names and I don't understand why the edit is considered inconsistent. I think you might want to take a look. – Michael (talk) 03:25, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion reversed
Hello, Sir. On 25 January you tagged Soud Al-Jinaie for speedy deletion as a repost of a page deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Soud Al-Jinaye. I deleted the article, but I have now received a message from the author of the article, drawing my attention to the fact that the new version of the article says that he "joined the first team in 2013 making his official debut vs Al Ahly SC on 12 November 2014". This is a significant difference from the situation at the time of the deletion discussion, so I have restored the article. You can, of course, take it back to AfD if you still think it should be deleted. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 18:48, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

- @Rukkiet: Unlike the other article, the issue here is not sourcing, but the subject of the article. For a subject to have an article on Wikipedia, it must meet certain inclusion criteria called notability. For footballers specifically, there are two relevant notability guidelines. The football specific notability guideline, WP:NFOOTBALL, says that any footballer who has played for his country's national team or in one of the fully professional leagues listed here is notable. Unless I'm missing something, this does not appear the case as Yotsapon Teangdar has not played for Thailand or in any Thai Premier League matches. The general notability guideline says that any subject that has received significant coverage in reliable sources is notable. In the context of football, this means detailed coverage going well beyond the routine sport journalism listed in the article. If I am missing something, please let me know. Sir Sputnik (talk) 06:04, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

- Unfortunately neither of these sources are sufficient. The first source says only that he was part of the squad not whether or not he actually played in any matches, which is what is required to meet WP:NSPORT. As for the second, facebook is not reliable source. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:33, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Sir Sputnik: OK, From this news and videos Link 1Link 2 this match he played for Buriram United against Esan United. At the begin of video clip, you can see his face explicitly.Rukkiet (talk) 22:32, 12 February 2015 (UTC+7)Thailand.
- @Sir Sputnik: And this is List of Buriram United 2015 from Thai premier League official website.Rukkiet (talk) 22:40, 12 February 2015 (UTC+7)Thailand.
- YouTube, like Facebook, is self-published and therefore not reliable, as is anything requiring facial recognition, especially considering there is no reference photo to compare to. The Buriram list explicitly says he has not played. I have to question why it is you bringing all of this up now, when you wrote the article to explicitly say that he had not appeared for Buriram United. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:41, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
Mark McAllister
Hi there,
I denied the speedy deletion tag you placed on Mark McAllister as a repost of an article previously deleted by AfD. I checked the deleted history, and this is a different Mark McAllister. The previous article's intro:
- Mark McAllister (born 26 April 1988 in Dungannon) is a footballer from Northern Ireland currently playing as a striker for IFA Premiership team Portadown.
The current article's intro:
- Mark McAllister (born 13 February 1971 in Inverness) is a former professional footballer who played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. in the Scottish League.
It's a not the same person, as you can see. I don't know enough about football to know if this version passes notability, but there's some references if you want to take a look. Happy editing to you. Keegan (talk) 03:55, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- To be fair on Sir Sputnik, if you look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark McAllister, it doesn't really give much away other than it's about a footballer who failed WP:NFOOTY. I reviewed this Mark McAllister and concluded that the two news sources (plus the book source supplied by the creator) let me to conclude he passed WP:NFOOTY via "Players who have played, and managers who have managed in a fully professional league, will generally be regarded as notable" Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. play in the Scottish Premiership, which is listed in the acceptable list of notable football leagues. Anyway, looks like a simple mistake - we all make them! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:23, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah if you notice they seem to have a history of adding unsourced non notable articles so might want to check more by them if you need be. Wgolf (talk) 04:16, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
February 2015
Hi Sir Sputnik,
My name is John Cuthbert and I have created the new page Mark McAllister from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC.
I noticed yesterday that having been "accepted as a submission" that latterly there was a "speedy deletion" tag attached to the page.
As User: Keegan|Keegan has correctly pointed out, Mark McAllister (born 13 February 1971 in Inverness) is a different person from the Mark McAllister from Northern Ireland.
User Keegan|Keegan has stated that the deletion has been "denied" due to the above confusion over the previous Mark McAllister from Northern Ireland. Could you confirm to me that the "speedy deletion" tag will now be removed and that the page that I have created meets your criteria and is able to stay live on Wikipedia. This would be much appreciated.
Mark McAllister from Inverness is a notable figure from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC who holds 4 records which can never be broken which are: 1. First ever Players' Player of the Year for Inverness Caledonian Thitsle 2. First ever Supporters Player of the Year for Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC 3. First Player to achieve 50 first team appearances for Inverness Caledonian FC 4. First player to score a Scottish FA Cup goal for Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC
Mark McAllister is coveted in 3 books covering 19 pages. You will see that I have placed the 3 books in the article/page:
I am currently trying to update my edit to show that Mark McAllister appears on 19 pages but I'm still familiarising my self with how to do this - any assistance that you may give me would be most appreciated?:

Your assistance here would be helpful too?
I would be very grateful for your confirmation on my first point and for any "pearls of wisdom" that you can afford me from your experience into how to include the "book pages" and "websites" which will help with additional reference points.
Many thanks in advance Sir Sputnik.

Luis Alamos
On the story on Alamos, you deleted a reference because you said the site was not reliable. Why is the site not reliable? BTW, the story on Alamos in English is the worst of all the languages. You'd think someone in England would make it better. Alamos was the fine manager who took Chile to two World Cups.BillVol (talk) 23:34, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
I wanted to comment on your post about Bryan Ciesiulka and Jacob Bushue being deleted. Both are rookies and have signed professional contracts. The team starts its season in a month. Both players are linked on the teams wikipedia page, St. Louis FC. Both players have cited links on their pages detailing the contracts they have signed with Saint Louis. Is it OK to create a article about for example Jonas Jensen goalkeeper at Esbjerg fB? Ha has played several matches in the danish 1st division, and is currently playing for at team in the danish superliga, but hasn't played any matches in the superliga? Fodbold-fan (talk) 23:28, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Capacity Olympiastadion Berlin
Hello
I have started a discussion about the capacity of the Olympiastadion in Berlin, see Talk page. I would be very happy if you could help me out with this matter, it is very confusing.
Best regards
