Hi Sirex98. You posted here regarding 216.231.162.9's edits. 216.231.162.9 now is claiming to be sockpuppets here. Please consider contributing to AndreLapalme SSP if you have anything to add. Thanks. -- Jreferee t/c 09:45, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Most of this was already in the pending RFCU for the AndreLalme case. Thanks for the info, every bit helps. I'm making your report a subpage of the AndreLapalme SSP case. RlevseTalk 22:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Message

While browsing Wikipedia here at school I get yet another vandalism message. I personally believe schools should not be allowed to edit under IP addresses, but only under personal logins. Anyway, so you know, this IP address is Da Vinci College in Gorinchem, Netherlands and you will quite likely find more and more vandalism from bored kids from this address in the future. While it's nice to do a grammatical edit here at school without needing to log in, I could always use my actual account as well. I suggest permanently blocking this IP from editing. Greetings etc, 213.124.168.231 (talk) 09:50, 30 November 2007 (UTC) Oh and I don't know who wrote the HTML and CSS here but there's no such thing as float:center : )

Well my css and html is not that good, I've never took a lesson, just what I learned here and a few websites as well as looking at other peoples work. also about your request I replied to your talk page if you hadn't already read it.▪◦▪≡ЅiREX≡Talk 14:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Was looking for where I used float:center just saw it was from Marlith message to me, but I'm sure I've have made a few minor errors myself :-)▪◦▪≡ЅiREX≡Talk 14:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I took the liberty of looking up the college and then tagging the IP with the SharedIP template. There is a link to the college's website or I believe to be the college's website as I only know a few words from the country. Anyways, have a good day Rgoodermote  14:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Nice userpage!

Speaking of userpages, I need a little bit of work done on mine. I want it to look like a diagnostic check (hmm, a racer who's interested in Wikipedia? That's weird) from an old Commodore. Please respond on my talk page. Best, --Gp75motorsports 15:23, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I was hoping to have it look like a C64 performing a self-diagnostic, with the above quote (the one in parentheses) somewhere in the mix. --Gp75motorsports 15:47, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Alright I'll try something later today, if you don't like it just revert it. :)▪◦▪≡ЅiREX≡Talk 15:50, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I didn't actually save it; when I spent about 15 minutes adding and deleting various things, and finally decided to give up. Do you want me to save this time so you can see what happens? --Gp75motorsports 01:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Computer Poker Players Edits

The computer poker players page is a page dedicated to a discussion on poker bots. The Poker bot pro is a 100% legitimate poker bot that in my opinion is better then most of the other ones out there. Until you can explain to me why Win Holdem, which is a commercially sold poker bot plays better or is in any way more legitimate then the poker bot pro I will continue to re-edit the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.18.247 (talk) 13:49, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

References/Reflist

Regarding the most trivial thing ever, I've noticed you some time change the references/ tag to reflist. The style guideline suggests references/ should be used when there are ten or less, and reflist when there are ten of more. I don't know if you were aware of that or not, and personally I don't really care one way or another, but I thought I'd just bring it up. :) 2005 (talk) 05:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka 3

Thank you for your support throughout my RfA process. It was quite a ride! And a very close call, but I'm very happy that the third time, well, you know.  ;) Thank you also for your very thoughtful question (and appreciating my answer!). Now, especially since it was such a controversial nom, I'm going to take things very slowly for awhile. Plus of course it's the holiday season, so there are plenty of off-wiki distractions! I'm working my way through the exercises at the "admin school", and will phase very gradually into my use of tools. Thank you for believing in me, Elonka 00:57, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I think you meant "7|-|E" instead of "7E|-|". But the rest looked awesome. Thanks for the personalized message!  :)

You're Welcome, Glad you liked the congrats spam(was thinking of sending it to you without keys!) :) , I'm also glad you made it, your RfA was like an episode of Survivor. :) , oh as far as the "7E|-|", in leet the = teh , so the translation acts up when you tranzlate ba|<k in 4th, kinda like Internet translators , if you were to translate something that was written in English then translate it into Japanese then back to English you get something goofy like this....

"Your support which is in the midst of my RfA processing thank you. That was riding in a car considerably! And 3rd being good to time, having known the very close call, but I am very happy. ; ) Your consideration deep question and thank you very (and in order to recognize my answering! ). Especially being to be nom where that becomes very the mark of dispute now, I thing intend probably to slowly take very because for a while. Plus naturally that holiday season, so is the recreation of Sawayama's off-wiki which is there! I being "admin school", being able to use my method with practice, do very gradually gradually in my use of the equipment. Believing me thank you" not too bad, babelfish lost in translation :-) ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 04:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Heh, yup, those multi-translated texts can be pretty funny. Let alone single-translated! "All your base".  ;) But one question though... Keys? Sorry if I'm being a little dense... I'm dealing with a lot of distractions at the moment. --Elonka 07:16, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Without keys (Mars/Jupiter) what I meant is I didn't want you to have to go thought the trouble to decrypt the binary/leet for such a simple message, although in your world I'm sure my cryptogram-game(if it can even be called that) is laughable! (you could make cryptograms that would make my brain fry I'm sure),I hope your distractions go away and that you enjoy the holidays  :-)▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 07:39, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I'm still not following the Mars/Jupiter part? What I did was this: I recognized that the binary was ASCII, so I converted it, expecting plaintext but then got the bizarre punctuation symbols. I wondered if I'd done it right, but I kept staring at it awhile, and then spotted something that looked like my name and realized what you'd done.  :) I didn't recognize all the "leet" symbols, so I separated each word out, and then worked back and forth like a simple substitution cipher until a bit more came through, and then the rest fell into place. But, how do the planets tie into that? --Elonka 08:26, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
When you click [show] the first time you should had see a clickable image planet Mars with a tip-tool message, when you click on the second [show] Jupiter give the second message/link, it was meant to save you time lol, but you got it anyways :-) (hence the the if you are lost message...) (if you don't see them maybe it's your browser, I use firefox). ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 08:44, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
LOL! So that's why I've been seeing that flickering planet on the left side of my screen. I remember noticing that Mars was appearing way in the lower lefthand corner of my browser (yes I use to Firefox too), but it never occurred to me to click on it. I figured it was just a remnant of one of those weird images that people keep on their userpages (I'm visiting a lot of pages while I'm working on thank you notes). You're right, those tools would have been helpful, heh! I think if I would have been moving more slowly, I probably would have paid more attention to them, but I'm multi-tasking too fast at the moment. Did you see that I got another encrypted congrats? I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. --Elonka 08:55, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

LOL, ok sorry for all that, because you're a game developer/cryptologist , I made a game(zork style)/cryptogram :) and yes I saw the one by EncycloPetey, the congrat are going to be more trouble then the RfA itself lol ;-), I'll let you get back to what you are busy with. :)▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 09:06, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

PokerGob

The external link you deleted for PokerGob is authentic. Mike Caro created the web page and uses it to communicate with people. please visit http://www.pokergob.com/mikecaro and review the content. The Hendon Mob and WPT sites are advertisements for those sites and are far less relevant. I understand why you wouldn't want advertisements on Wikipedia, however he was our first member and is involved in the sites growth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PokerGob (talkcontribs) 07:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

PokerGob I'm sorry, but the site you are trying to link to about Mike Caro cannot be used, the Link you listed above is a mirror of of the information at Caro's home page, which already exist as a external link in his article, there for the site pokergob.com, and the information that is provided is redundant, additionally adding the site (PokerGob.com) also stands as a Conflict of interest even if it did add additional content that did not already exist at Caro's official site, the Hendon Mob tournament results are relevant as a reliable database for live tournament results which may serve better as a reference rather then a external link the same is true with his World Poker Tour profile. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 21:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Doyle Brunson

First I would hardly say that iconic is peacock term keep in mind it is a wikipedia guide line not policy. "Peacock" terms are opinionated. Also the policy states "This page documents an English Wikipedia style guideline. It is a generally accepted standard that editors should follow, though it should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception". Is Doyle not an exception? Secondly it has been backed by references third please read: "peacock terms which merely promote the subject of the article without imparting real information". This is clearly not to "promote" the subject. I dont think Doyle needs any promoting. 63.76.234.250 (talk) 16:32, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

edit question from your message

First I wanted to thank you for your message in regards to proper content for the site. I understand the content on Clonie's page could be construed as such but the edits I made on the sports agent section were just editions adhering to the two other examples that were there before i posted. If you could be so kind and let me know how to best proceed I would appreciate it.

Best. t4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thanks for (talkcontribs) 07:33, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but to write in an article "To inquire about securing Clonie for an appearance at your next event please contact her agent, XXXXX at ***@***.com." is advertising and there for forbidden.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk

No, I totally understand and agree with that and didnt realize that was not allowed on the site. What i was inquiring about was that I updated sports agent and added my name and some of the roster to other poker agents, and the content I added was an identical format to what was already posted.

thanks for the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thanks for (talkcontribs) 04:33, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about the late reply, I know this must seem a bit unnerving to you, It's best that you bring up the topic on the talk page being that it's about yourself (because you have a conflict of interest). On the talk page you may wish to show the Notability of yourself why you should be red-linked and because you added the section also the notability of sports agents that 'represent poker players', also see WP:BIO, WP:COMPANY), I don't fellow the topic so the best place is to ask is there, if you don't get a timely response which sometimes happens on an individual Wikipedia talk page, feel free to ask at the help desk, thank you. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 15:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I'll do a few here and there when I have extra time.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 09:25, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Nicknames

The reason I do it is due to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) explicitly does not include "nicknames" as being part of the official legal name listed in the opening words of a biographical article. One of the articles you listed, Bill Clinton, is listed as an example on the page specifically lacking the "Bill" nickname in the format because it's not meant to be there in the first case and the article itself is wrong. –– Lid(Talk) 12:27, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

The Tiger Woods opposition is not really valid as he has had his name legally changed, however the John Edwards one is more intriguing to me and seems to be in opposition to the rest of the guide. I can not explain why in one section it tells you to do one thing and then in another tells you to do another. –– Lid(Talk) 12:38, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
I see your point, It's odd then because most of article with nickname are used like that Johnny Carson Johnny Depp, Pete Rose etc see list for William/Bill/Billy here, I think this needs to be brought up on the WP:MOS talkpage the encyclopedia shouldn't be in conflict with itself.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 13:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. –– Lid(Talk) 14:38, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Greg FBT Mueller

I appreciate you trying to keep the integrity of these articles. it appears that you have a penchance for poker as well, hence maybe why you are so defensive of this man. However, there is no record in any database that supports his claim of playing professional hockey. just because his Card Player bio says he did does not make it a fact. The URL's I have cited confirm that he was never a professional hockey player of any kind, even at the lowest levels, anywhere in the world. So, unless he played professionally on Mars, quit changing my edit.

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wimbas1 (talkcontribs) 13:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Are you his boyfriend or what? Greg FBT Mueller's birthname is Gregory, not Gregor. This guy NEVER, EVER played hockey professionally. I don't know why you are continuing to perpetrate this fraud, but you are really reaching on this, and quite frankly acting like a child. Take it for what it's worth, your hero Greg FBT Mueller, is lying himself, or has someone lying on hisd behalf about something he never did. he never played professional hockey of any kind. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wimbas1 (talkcontribs) 15:26, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Grow up dude, these are not personal attacks. I am trying to help you understand your errors. Problem is, people like you hide behind a computer all day, you cry foul when anybody dares to question you, and you have to grab for strwas when your argument starts to fall apart. All I am saying, is at the very least you need to get your so called facts confirmed, as I have ample proof to say that the statement you continue to try to undo about him never playing hockey professionally, is verified by the hockey db. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wimbas1 (talkcontribs) 16:04, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I have yet to undo any of your changes, others have done so, which I took a guess as to why they may had done so on your talk page(namely WP:COI), my suggestion if you wish to find out why your changes have been undone is to pose you comments on the Jamie Gold talk page and not to edit war, thank you. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 06:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

What is the point of saying "this article is a stub and you can help Wiki, etc," when anyone can take down an addition and my addition to the Bill Smith (poker player) article was removed in the course of a night without anyone even telling me why? I don't know Wiki very well but I do know that what I wrote about Smith was true and verifiable. APPT Season 2

Good catch with the reference for APPT Macau 2. Seems that neither Hendon Mob nor APPT.com have posted official results, but I posted what I knew from pokernews.com. Should we reference that or just wait for APPT to come around with their "official" results? Stsharp413 (talk) 05:37, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

It seems the hendonmob has now corrected the error, looks to be a simple problem of currency conversion, It list the winner for example, Sabat, having won HK$453,851 ($58,132 USD) when in fact it's $453,851 USD or HKD 3,540,040, which is nearly an 8 fold mistake! heh, but most of the time they are correct so i see no problem using the mob or pokernews, cardplayer etc, btw nice work on all the updates you have done, especially the WCOOP =) ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 08:40, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. I was also considering something that I also mentioned to Compy90. That is redoing the WPT, EPT, APPT and LAPT results pages (From all seasons) so that the formats conform with the style we used for final tables for the WSOP and WSOPE. It seems that the tables (with payouts, prize pool, entrants, etc.) are far more useful and nicer to look at than the ones we currently have. I am just seeking out opinions on this. It would require some research to go back and get entrants and prize info, but it wouldn't be difficult information to find. Thanks for the input. Stsharp413 (talk) 19:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Good idea, You're right, it would look better that way, with # of -Day Event: date # of Entries, Total Prize Pool etc. I wouldn't mind the reformatting or helping out if you want to do it. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 20:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

To tell you the truth I didn't know before now of any guidelines for currency symbols, until I read this which states in part "Fully identify a currency on its first appearance (AU$52); subsequent occurrences are normally given without the country identification (just $88), unless this would be unclear." and "If there is no common English abbreviation or symbol, use the ISO 4217 standard". btw here is a list of Currency signs if you are ever in need of them.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 02:59, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you :-)

And please don't apologise for standing up for other articles. I fully expected opposition to that move; my last list merge resulted in a nasty AFD review. My current project of consolidating Solar System lists is not earning me many friends, so I deeply appreciate the vote of confidence. :-) Serendipodous 10:23, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I've been thinking, List of moons by diameter does contain asteroid and minor planet moons as well as planet and dwarf planet moons, so maybe it still has value. On the other hand, I suppose I could merge all the info for minor planets into List of moons, but then I'd have to find sources for them all. Serendipodous 12:31, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Actually, after re-reconsidering, the diameter list only contains 27 of the 104 known asteroid moons, so it isn't really comprehensive. But then, neither is List of minor planet moons. I think the best way to solve this problem would be to transform List of minor planet moons into a comprehensive, referenced and sortable list. Sometime later. Serendipodous 12:49, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Sorry I was away, Yes the other article isn't comprehensive, is it ever your plan to merge the list of minor planet moons with the list of moons list? it may make the article a bit large though.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 06:53, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Sorry; I've had the flu. :-) No, I don't think I would; the 104 minor planet moons would overwhelm the list completely. I think it's best to keep them separate. Serendipodous 19:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Can you let the latest edits on his page slide for a day? Rafe Rickrolled the entire Tiltboys list by phone, and this is his just desserts for a day... I will revert them after the day is up, but let us tilt the Tiltboy properly for a day!

Hi

You must have had my talk page on your watch list all this time.

No worries about creating problems for me. I was looking for something to do today and thought I might add some of the missing parts of the poker probability articles I used to work on. Not likely that I'll be here in any significant capacity, but it's nice to know somebody remembers me. Certainly I remember who gave me my first barnstar.  :-)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Latest edit on Frank Kassela's article

Is it really necessary to go into that much detail on his final hand in the $25,000 NLHE Six-Handed event? I personally find that, when written in that way, it doesn't sound neutral in tone and also isn't consistent with the rest of the article's detail. Wouldn't it be better to, for the time being, mention that he came third in that event and possibly elaborate further once we can be sure of the POY results? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 01:26, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

feel free to re-edit, to made sound more neutral.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 01:35, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
I made it very simple for the time being. If Kassela wins the POY, I feel it can be given a little more detail. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 01:41, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of HORSE winners template

I was looking for how to put up that notice! Looks like you beat me to it. I've only just added all of the templates to my watchlist, and I couldn't help but think some of them were either pointless, useless or irregular. Maybe the issue that could be best sorted is how there's a template for 2009 WSOP Bracelet winners, but no template for any other years. Is it used anywhere? If it is, then it'd make sense to have a template for every year. But then there'd be a LOT of clutter. Would it be best to just delete that template, too...? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 21:36, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

the Template:2009_World_Series_of_Poker was made by User:TonyTheTiger an excellent editor here on the Wiki, I would ask him his thoughts on his plans for it's use. No doubt an excellent editor! I'm just worried that if it IS used, pages like Phil Hellmuth or Chan/Brunson will have massive amounts of boxes. Just a question

i believe you're as good a person to know as any: May I ask what the numbers in brackets mean in the infobox of some players, such as Huck Seed or Michael Mizrachi? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 23:17, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the brackets means that they were awarded a non title event, such as a invite or closed event, Huck won the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, but it doesn't count as an official (bracelet) title, likewise are the WPT invites like World Poker Tour Battle of Champions IV only six players participated and only the winner cashed, in that case Nick Schulman in which you'll see Titles 1(+1) in the infobox with the brackets indicating unofficial as it was set up by the WPT but was not an official title either.

A key really is needed or perhaps they should be removed altogether, not sure, but it's not really useful if only a few people know what they mean.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 02:37, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

There are so many problems with them; they're difficult to understand, they don't explain what they're for, they're reported inconsistently, and I personally very much dislike how they're also included in final table/cashings counts. I'd suggested to 2005 that maybe the need to add an "Other titles" section to the infobox is an idea, although at the same time I can see it coming with its own problems... RE: Giving notice

Ah, then I bet he wouldn't like the look of me proposing to delete 14 articles that he created! ...I still feel that they're not notable enough on their own, though. As a side-note, did I do the right thing regarding subst:prod? Was it the right thing to do if I wanted it deleted and I executed them okay...? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 20:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

I can't say what you did was wrong, but I do believe that there are better approaches in dealing with such matters, In the case of any article that I may prod, I notify the original author that I've done so and my reason why there is a boiler plate template at the bottom of the prod that can be used "Author(s) notification template: {{subst:prodwarning|THE ARTICLE NAME|concern = }} ~~~~" but I prefer to use just normal written notice, In the case of a categories of articles I would notify both the creator and the project if there are conflicts in opinions in order to build a better consensus. Balloonman is very fair minded, so there should be nothing to worry about talking with him about the matter. cheers ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 22:02, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Poker-Babes

I don't think edit warring is the proper way to solve this. Poker-Babes is a self published source and is used in a massive number of articles as a reference and as an external link. This is clearly not warranted as this is not a PokerNews type authoritative poker website, it is the opinions of one person. Were it used sparingly I would not have a problem with it but it is clear somebody has been very aggressive about inserting this site into as many Wikipedia articles as possible and I don't think that is appropriate and it clearly meets my definition of 'spam' DegenFarang (talk) 02:27, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

It seems that as tho you still have a beef with user:2005 for reasons i'm not 100% sure of, but if i had to guess it because he removed an external link you gave at some point? I seem to remember a massive removal of PB as a ref anyways looking at WP:SPS your point may be valid so i'll leave your edits, but you may want leave any relevant self pub detail not found by a 3rd party source for the article on shirley rosario based on what i see from WP:ABOUTSELF, on the PB refs you removed would you be so kind to add a 3rd party reliable replacement. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 03:01, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Requesting advice

Hello, Sirex 98! I'm a new user to Wikipedia and I was looking for the page Pokernews.com. Well I found it, but then I noticed that it didn't have it's own article page. I went to the page and saw the discussion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pokernews.com, and noticed that the consensus was to have the the page solely act as a redirect to Tony G. I took some time of my own to come up with what I thought might suffice as a notable article page about PokerNews and I wanted to ask for your opinion of how I would go about presenting this to the wikipedia community to get it authorized? You can take a look here, User:AthenasMuse/sandbox. I know the main concern of the discussion was that the page you had initially created failed WP:WEB and WP:N. However, the article I roughly drafted, User:AthenasMuse/sandbox, has more reliable independent sources that include third-party sources such as: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/05/prweb525316.htm , http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-release/pokernewscom-releases-us-poker-room-and-instant-play-top-lists-198748.php , http://www.reviewjournal.com/inside-gaming/feds-eye-poker-champs-assets , http://www.wnd.com/markets/news/read?GUID=23446428 , http://www.igbaffiliate.com/events/igbaffiliateawards/winners-revealed-2013 . Can you point me in the right direction of how I should proceed? Thanks advance for your time. AthenasMuse (talk) 22:41, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Heyas, Sirex98! Long time, no see; I hope you're doing well. May I request your advice regarding one of the edits you recently reverted? I have noticed that occasionally some edits are completely removed from Wikipedia's archive if they're deemed offensive or damaging enough, but for the life of my I can't find the page detailing that policy. I believe you know which page I would like to apply it to. All the best. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 14:22, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Do you mean the Nguyen article? This addition was missing sources " His children come wide and far and so do the mistresses that he buys with his wealth"

If WP:RS are added then that's a different story. WP:BLP tells us "We must get the article right. Be very firm about the use of high quality sources. All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be explicitly attributed to a reliable, published source, which is usually done with an inline citation. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." is why removed the content, do you disagree?▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 18:09, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm not disagreeing in the slightest; I was looking for an advice page detailing when it's appropriate to request for an admin to remove the edit entirely. Whilst writing this comment I double-checked a couple of pages and believe I've found what I'm looking for: WP:CRD. Specifically, under section 2. I know there's a lot of speculation regarding Nguyen, but it is all merely that. This would be my first time submitting a request of this nature so I'd appreciate you telling me whether you agree that this is what the facility is for. Thanks for your time once again! JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 19:15, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I think I'm in the same boat as you :), I hadn't made such a request before. I'm not sure if the Nguyen edit meets the threshold of a redaction or not, You might want to ask Ballonman (as he has been an admin for quite some time) who may have a better idea then me on if a redaction is necessary over a revert.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 20:08, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Many articles experience BLP violaitons, but unless the edit is so egregiously offensive that it indisputably needs to be removed, it is usually not oversighted. The only time that edits are made impossible to see is if it contained specific false information or was so offensive as to challenge cultural norms at a primal level. There are several reasons for not deleting every occurance of vandalism; but it boils down to being able to view a complete history of edits.
For example, I don't know if the two of you remember a case from a few years ago where somebody made some highly inflamatory hate speach or something on wikipedia using an IP address. They were able to identify the person who made the edits because they had previously vandalized an article using their real name.
Another reason for keeping the information is so that people who get bad information can investigate it. Can you imagine reading the above live today. Having a discussion about it, somebody challenges you, so you come back to wikipedia and its no longer there. "But it was there, I swear it." Then you go through the history and can't find it because it had been oversighted? By having the deleted record there with a note that it was vandalism/unfounded, if gives you a better sense that the community is watching the articles and involved. It also lets you know that you weren't crazy when you can't find something you know was there.
In short, I wouldn't revdel the above comment.---Balloonman Poppa Balloon 15:32, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Those are some really good points Balloonman Thank you for the reply. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 15:44, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

WSOP Results Page

It seems pretty pointless to me to redlink certain players on the results page. Firstly, it's completely arbitary. What determines a notable player? For example, for Event #6 you marked Adam Geyer as a notable player, but not Marvin Rettenmaier who won the WPT Championship just two weeks ago. Secondly, I really don't see a point to it. Past bracelet winners are already marked out, and if a non-bracelet winner was all that notable they would have a page. I look forward to hearing your response on this issue.Compy90 (talk) 02:22, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Rettenmaier was an oversight on my part so I agree with you there, I suppose a list on notables without articles could be on the talk page or the project instead, I notice there are a lot of over looked online pros have made strives over the past few years as well as this series as well some older players. I was hoping to bring attention but perhaps a better way then redlinks could be done I hope to find some time to make some articles myself soon on new or older players like Isaac Haxton or Ted Lawson etc

Adam Geyer has been a online pro for years known as Csimmsux on FTP & Simmsux on Stars winner of 3 FTOPS Bracelets and has 4 WSOP FT. I think someone like Geyer is more notable the a random that wins a bracelet.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 14:34, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

If I may interject, I'd noticed a while ago how few mostly-online players have Wikipedia articles. Viktor Blom and Brian Hastings are the only two that spring to mind for me and they've since made notable live accomplishments, too. If a discussion about what constitutes notability and also which poker players are deserving of articles arises on Wikiproject Poker or elsewhere I would be very keen to contribute. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 20:52, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
In the past I would wait til an online player broke out live so article being notable wouldn't be challenged so easily i've notice over the years that there have been many online players both in both cash and tournament that have made a name for themselves just primary online however to be on the safe side I still wait for either a live win or that they have made multiple final tables to go along with their online success, I suppose there may be other exceptions like Isil & Brian Hastings (now with a WSOP win) or even non-tournament players with a lot of TV & print exposure like Viffer.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 21:49, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

You make a very good point with Viffer! I had been trying to think of a player with substantial TV time but as yet no article. What website do you use for information of online tournament poker wins, if there is one? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 23:35, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

opr / pscope there is also p5's ratings but when i find a result i use the date & tournament name to search for articles, normal pokernews or cardplayer.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 01:41, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

On the subject of notability, I've noticed that David Tuchman doesn't yet have an article. Might you think he's a good candidate? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 01:10, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Don't that much about him but I doubt it just yet, there not much coverage on him as a reporter/commentator that I see and not much as poker player either based on his results, he is mostly known for commentary for the webcast of the sunday million on pokerstars and the wsop but not a lot beyond that I can find. I would wait til there more copy on him in case someone afd it. I haven't found too many interviews of him but this one is funny Tony Kendall (poker player) was hilarious in it. also he makes a mentions wikipedia of all things. feel free to get a 2nd opinion as i said don't much of him. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 04:55, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

DegenFarang

I noticed some exasperation on your part on Amalthea's page with regards to why DegenFarang has begun to stir the shit again. The answer's fairly obvious to me: DegenFarang was unblocked last time after promising not to edit poker pages or talk to 2005 for six months; Six months almost to the day afterward was the start of this month. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 12:14, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

I tried to give a heads-up what might turn into a greater problem then I notice him WP:GAMING the system claiming AGF and acting like he just wanted to improve articles that were made by user:2005 after trying to AFD them!
His action proved otherwise an example of gaming Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Carmen_Media this was quite striking he had AFD seven of user:2005 articles then he said in this afd
"Your false accusations are not appreciated. I again ask you to stop making this personal and to assume good faith - in accordance with Wikipedia policy. I wasn't aware who created this article or the other. If one user created two spam articles that exist only to promote businesses, perhaps that might be cause for some kind of investigation into whether that user is being paid to promote businesses on Wikipedia, but that's above my pay-grade and outside the scope of this AFD. DegenFarang (talk) 19:48, 18 February 2013 (UTC)"

There are 4,169,961 articles in the English version of Wikipedia and he AFD seven articles all by 2005 in less then a week, The five pointed out by User:Toohool here and the malformed afd of Shirley Rosario and Steve Badger he later tried to get user:Rray one of the most polite editors i've come across blocked for (ironically) hounding him! but it backfired. ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 03:13, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

TCOOP?

Hi Sirex98,

I saw that you created the wikipedia pages for the Spring Championship of Online Poker and also the page for the World Championship of Online Poker. Do you think that a similar/equivalent page for the Turbo Championship of Online Poker would be a good idea? I would create it myself, but I serve as the Head of Public Relations for PokerStars, and hence, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to create the page.

What do you think?

I didn't create either the SCOOP or WCOOP articles but have been the majority updater in the last few years, I haven't been as active with poker articles as much as I was pre-black friday I still need to update last year's WCOOP :-)

It's difficult to be enthusiastic about online poker when you're not allowed to play in the country you live in. Unless someone else does it may be something I'll do in the future.

On an unrelated matter, Since you are in PR I wanted to mention that it is unfortunate that since BF there no longer any repositories of free-use images or media available for wikipedia editors to use the last being lasvegasvegas.com before it's closure, It would be helpful if new Poker related images were available either on Flickr under a Creative Commons ShareAlike License or Wikimedia Commons. It's been frustrating that even old photos keep getting questioned after a free use site closes down. :( as you can see on my commons page. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sirex98 or deletion attempts ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 21:08, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

btw You can also make your request and get feedback on it at WP:POKER, I don't want you to think I'm the only one that you can make the request to, you are correct that based on WP:COI that you yourself can not create any article that is in connection to your company but are welcome to get feedback from other poker editors.
