Hello, Slugger O'Toole
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Bruxton, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Shirley S. Kastor, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Bruxton}}
. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

- As I mentioned in a subsequent edit summary, Wikipedia:NPOL says state legislators, which Kastor was, are inherently notable. I've deleted your tag. -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 16:15, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, the guide allows for "state–wide office" which is taken to mean "Constitutional offices". State legislators do not usually meet NPOL without WP:SIGCOV. An important caveat in the NPOL guideline:
Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the general notability guideline.
Bruxton (talk) 16:58, 29 September 2022 (UTC)- According to NPOL, it does not require state-wide office for notability. Those who "have been members of legislative bodies" at the "state/province" level are "presumed to be notable." This isn't a "local official." Of course, SIGCOV says we could determine that she doesn't deserve an article. Can you explain why she is not notable, unlike the many other state legislators with stub articles? -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 17:12, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Shirley S. Kastor
Hello, Slugger O'Toole, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Bruxton, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Shirley S. Kastor, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shirley S. Kastor.
You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Bruxton}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Photo upload help
I notice you edit Knights of Columbus related articles so I'm asking you this question. I'd like to put a photo on the page of Patrick E. Kelly. When I look at the photo of Carl A. Anderson ( see here for the file ) , it is said to come from this source http://www.kofc.org/un/eb/en/news/executives/sk_bio.html and that link is dead. Thus I can't figure out what the justification really was as far as copyright etc. Here are the photos of the KOC leadership on a live link and I don't see any justification there. I wonder if you can shed any light. Thanks. Novellasyes (talk) 21:04, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Novellasyes - I am no expert, but the link you provided has a copyright notice on the bottom of it. Given that Mr. Kelly is still alive, and presumably someone could take a picture of him and upload it, I don't think we can use it per WP:NFCI. Good luck. -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 03:08, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! That's very helpful. Novellasyes (talk) 17:12, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Dennis Savoie.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Dennis Savoie.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:49, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted
Hi Slugger O'Toole, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 07:57, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
The article Animals in the Bible has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
no indication of notability as a topic in itself; not doing anything that the list of animals in the bible isn't
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Moriwen (talk) 22:29, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
