Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Jeremiah Clarke. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:38, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Robin Milford, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. NewYorkActuary (talk) 15:29, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

List of suicides

edit

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia! I notice that you split an entry in the List of suicides article this edit of yours, but you did not add the citation to Magda Goebbels when doing so. Just so you know, Wikipedia's Verifiability requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, and this includes list articles, especially ones containing sensitive material like List of suicides. A wikilink to the term's own article does not constitute a citation, nor does it suffice, per WP:CIRCULAR. A discussion on this matter was held on that article's talk page years ago in which this was decided. For now, don't worry, I added the citations. This is just for future reference. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Skywarp (Transformers) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Skywarp (Transformers), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Copying licensed material requires proper attribution

edit

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Draft:Skywarp (Transformers) you included material from the Transformers wiki. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this legal requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:17, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see you added some content from the deleted article Skywarp as well. Doing that also requires proper attribion, which I have added. Since that article was turned into a redirect as a result of a deletion discussion, you may be wasting your time on this draft. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:59, 11 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your user name does not inspire me with confidence. You might consider changing it. If you act like a 12-year-old, you'll be treated as such. I imagine you'd prefer that we show you the same respect that we'd normally giver every registered user and you could come halfway in that effort. Henselt

edit

Hi Aleck,

Thanks for your attention to the Adolf von Henselt article: the May 9 birthday you added agrees with Grove and Baker's as well as WP:de and I'm now puzzled over where the May 12th date could have come from and whether there's any reason to keep it. Can you shed any light on the mystery? Btw, please do use edit summaries; they greatly increase one's cred! Cheers, Sparafucil (talk)

Similar continued disruption by Smart Aleck at Carlo Gesualdo: seems like the user refuses to take part in talk page discussions to get things sorted (see e.g. the invitation at Talk:Carlo Gesualdo#The quote from New Yorker, etc.: says they will participate in discussions, doesn't do so, and continues to revert-war). --Francis Schonken (talk) 06:40, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi -- I just removed a copyright violation that you added to Mily Balakirev in January. Looks like you copied and pasted a slab of text from the online Encyclopedia Britannica. Smart Aleck, how much of this have you done on Wikipedia? Are you going to help us clean it up? Every single copyright violation or plagiarism you added has to be removed. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Arthur, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arturo (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your editing

edit

Do you reallty think hat a reader, after going to the article on Herman Göring, and then looking at the infobox that is titled "Herman Göring", then needs to be told under the image there that it is a "picture of Goring"? WHO THE HECK DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD THINK IT IS A PICTURE OF, CELINE DION?

A very large percentage of your edits to Wikipedia have been reverted by a large number of editors and bots, and you have a considerable number of warnings and complaints on this page. I think that means that you are not trying very hard to improve the encyclopedia, or that you are for some reason incapable of improving the encyclopedia, or that you are trolling us, and you need to be blocked from editing. Which is it? If you want to contribute, you must do better, your contributions to this point have been generally unacceptable.

Based on my examination of some of your recent edits, I am now going to rollback many of them. I believe you need to convince the Wikipedia community that you are not a troll or a vandal. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:03, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Note to other editors: Any editor in good standing -- other then Smart Aleck -- who feels that an edit I reverted is a good addition to Wikipedia should go ahead and restore it, with my blessing. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:17, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I agree with your revert BMK. Please Aleck listen to BMK and the other editors above. And as I have also said in edit summaries, please stop adding personal opinion, which is WP:OR and uncited content to GA rated articles, such as you have done at Adolf Hitler on the 26th and Heinrich Himmler, just now. Kierzek (talk) 02:00, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Smart Aleck- you cannot ignore this and just continue editing as before, you must respond to editors who are questioning your contributions. Failure to do so may well lead to being blocked from editing, possibly permanently. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:22, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. This message is for all editors who have been making warnings and complaints about my contributions and have talked to me about my edits. I'm here to say, I'm extremely, exceedingly sorry for all my violations in editing. Honest to God, I didn't mean to do any disruptive editing on Wikipedia. Honestly, I was just trying to improve the encyclopedia by trying to adding more detail, by adding more content and description. Also, as I have seen other editors warn to me about, I really apologize about adding unsourced content and donating copyrighted material when I'm not the copyright holder. To be honest, frank, and sincere, I never thought that I could be vandalizing Wikipedia by doing what I've done with editing for the past few weeks and months. And to conclude with, I'm terribly freaking sorry that I didn't follow your complaints and listen to your warnings. I never thought how serious the consequences could be, especially being blocked from editing. I hope you all could forgive me for what I've done with "contributions".

Yours truly, Smart Aleck — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smart Aleck (talkcontribs)

@Smart Aleck: How do you see your editing from now on? --Francis Schonken (talk) 05:58, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I see that I have to follow many rules in editing. I never realized that I broke many of them before, like adding unsourced content and copyrighted material, and now not to make the same mistake again.

By the way, Mr. Schonken, remember the talk on Carlo Gesualdo? Don't forget that we could have a discussion on the talk page. I could explain to you about my past edits that were reverted on the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smart Aleck (talkcontribs)

Content you added to the above article appears to have been copied from http://clarkhouse.com/clarkhouse-history/. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. All content you add to Wikipedia must be written in your own words. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:10, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Boston Massacre, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page.
There is a new section on the article's talk page specifically addressing the use of 'riot'. Please read talk pages before restoring contentious descriptors without even bothering to leave an edit summary. If you have a case to discuss, follow on with the thread per WP:BRD. Making non-consensus changes to long standing content is disruptive and disrespectful towards other editors.

Enough is enough?

edit

@Beyond My Ken: as I kinda predicted in #January 2018 above, Smart Aleck "says they will participate in discussions, doesn't do so, and continues...", with two more examples of disruptive editing in as many days. I suggest someone with admin powers takes action, or does this need to go to ANI before action is possible? --Francis Schonken (talk) 08:51, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Francis: I'd said that's completely up to Smart Aleck. If their responses (as above and immediately below this) are simply pro forma, then I'd say the problem is heading towards AN/I. (Just a reminder that I'm not an admin.) If they're sincere, and change the way they edit, that's different. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:48, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Again, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry about it. But I do have a question about discussing with other editors about contributions: Is it appropriate to start a conservation on the talk page to talk about the edits?

If there is a dispute with another editor about content, the appropriate place to discuss it is on the talk page of the article involved. If someone approaches you here about your own editing, that discussion should place here. If you have questions of another editor that aren't about content disputes, you can post your question on that editor's talk page. In general, the pirpose of talk pages is to facilitate communication between editors. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:48, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:16, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked your account, because in spite of repeated warnings, you continued to add copyright material to this wiki in violation of our copyright policy and copyright law. You cannot resume editing until you provide a clear statement that demonstrates that you have read and understand our copyright policy and intend to follow it in the future. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:18, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I was going to unblock you, because it turns out the page is a Wikipedia mirror, but you had no way of knowing that, and copied from it anyway. So while you technically did not commit a copyright violation, the intent was there, so I am leaving your account blocked for the time being, until you can convince us that you understand copyright law and how it applies to Wikipedia editing. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:34, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Bombshell (Transformers). This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Given your history of warnings, I'm forced to assume that you're familiar with Wikipedia policies about verifiability and chose to ignore them. You need to stop doing that. Your draft article, Draft:Skywarp (Transformers)

edit

Hello, Smart Aleck. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Skywarp".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Sam Sailor 07:18, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
