AirSage

Hello, Smlsmith511. I know that "Smith" is a common name, so feel free to ignore this suggestion if it is inappropriate. But if you are in any way related to Cy Smith, you should take a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest before editing AirSage. Essentially, Wikipedia contributors are asked not to edit pages that might promote the interests of individuals or organizations we are associated with. It's not a rule as such, but it is a generally accepted behavioral guideline. Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 02:56, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:AirSage logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:47, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of AirSage

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on AirSage requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:34, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why the article was deleted

You said:

I am a college student taking a telecommunications class and have decided to focus on an Atlanta based company: AirSage. I have decided to put together this wikipedia page because I found that most of the information on the previous wikipedia page for this topic was outdated and irrelevant. I am doing my best to keep the information unbiased and neutral, but as I am getting most of the information from AirSage's website, it is hard to tell what is promotional and what is factual. Could you perhaps provide me examples of how the AirSage wiki page is currently promotional so i can avoid them while completing this page?

Phrases such as "providing unprecedented insight into the behavior of consumers at specific locations and at different times during the day." are clearly promotional, but the bigger problem is that it is a Close paraphrasing of the original. I've found that if I copy and paste the material, and try to rewrite it, that it still ends up too close to the original. A better approach is to find more than one source (always desirable), then, put them aside, and write about the subject in one's own words. After writing, return to the original text, and determine whether it is too close (if you have a better memory than I do), or if some points would be better made by an explicit quote and attribution, with the quote suitably short.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:34, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
