Draft picks
Just wanted to let you know that there's a discussion on the talk page of the WikiProject Ice Hockey page about the format of draft picks pages; whether we should go with sortable tables (like the Colorado page which is up for FLC) or broken up by year (like the Devils page I'm working on in my sandbox). Feel free to chip in your $0.02. Also, my list of Carolina Panthers first-round draft picks is up for FLC; if you wanna check it out and offer any comments/support/hate lol I'd appreciate it, thanks. So what are you working on now that will no doubt become featured within a month, and do you need any help with it? Anthony Hit me up... 11:04, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Stevens sounds like a plan. Do we have enough resources on him that we could make it FA? Brodeur wrote a book, so we used that as background info; we're gonna have to use interviews and websites to get stuff on Stevens. Also, I'm working on turning the Devils draft picks and players lists into featured lists; once we do, we can definitely turn the NJ Devils into a featured topic (team, Brodeur, draft picks, players... and hopefully Stevens). New York Yankees GA
I have failed the nomination you put in to promote the New York Yankees article to GA status. I have stated my reasons on the Yankees' talk page. I think the article has a lot of potential and would suggest that you put it up for peer review so that other editors can give their opinions and suggestions. Good luck. PanthersGirl 16:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Do'h! Admittedly this was my first attempt at a Good Article review and I think I may have got it amazingly wrong (It wouldn't be the first time) and misunderstood how the whole operation works! Since my queries have been addressed you could relist the article and allow someone with a vague idea of what they're doing review it instead. Seeing as it was only listed today it shouldn't delay the whole process. :-D Many apologies. PanthersGirl 18:25, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Sakic19.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sakic19.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ccwaters 12:56, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Sakic19.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Sakic19.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:28, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Devils stuff
Hey, FYI, the Devils page is up for a front page request here. Voice your support so we can have it on this date; some people don't seem to think June 30 is enough of an anniversary to have it on the main page. For your outstanding work on things having to do with the New Jersey Devils; including the articles, lists and all that. The only reason I award this one is because the image has devils horns, so it sort of has something to do with the Devils. NJD4life 17:27, 5 July 2007 (UTC) |

- You may have noticed from my user page that I have a good feel for good articles. I disagree for the reason stated on the GA/R page. The article was never officially promoted from what I can tell as well. WikiProject Ice Hockey August 2007 Newsletter
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Sportskido8/Archive 4! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. New recognized content By Maxim
Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim

Did You Know? By Maxim
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Denisbook.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Denisbook.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:1993habs.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:1993habs.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hey, I don't know how busy you are, but if you have some time, would you please take a look at the Scott Stevens article? I've put it up for peer review, and I know the vast majority of the article is acceptable, but the lead sucks, and I've never been good at writing the lead. I'd like to put it up for GA nomination sometime this week or next, and the lead is the only thing holding it back. If you can't, no big deal. Anthony Hit me up... 13:24, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

This month's newsletter was designed and written by Wizardman, jj137, and Blackngold29. If you would like to contribute to future newsletters, please contact the Baseball WP outreach dept. |
Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest [football] Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did. In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29 |
