Bugs

edit

Why do you say that Bugs is not just the Bunny? When people say Bugs, they mostly refer to Bugs Bunny. I redirect the article, Bugs, to Bugs Bunny, because it is the most common use of Bugs. -- SNIyer12(talk) 04:23 31 May, 2005 (UTC)

No it isn't the most common use of bugs, and I'll keep changing the bloody thing back if you do. --Spotteddogsdotorg 04:26, 31 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
If you want the disambiguation page, please see Bugs (disambiguation). SNIyer12(talk) 04:30 31 May, 2005 (UTC)
I have now linked the bugs page to the most common usage. --Spotteddogsdotorg 04:37, 31 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you simply mark the page for deletion again, but locate the actual debate at a different page (i.e. Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Some page/2). However, it's generally frowned upon re-nominating a page that just survived a deletion debate. If you want to go that route, I suggest visiting Wikipedia:Votes for Undeletion. "TV personality notability"

edit

Perhaps it's because I neither live in the US nor bother to watch TV (or for that matter am interested in "personalities"), but your criteria (on your user page) for a keep vote look pretty reasonable. (At this point, I'm not saying they're right, just that they're reasonable; indeed, I've a hunch that they're not right, as simpler criteria such as verifiability are all that's required.) Also, your first criterion for delete vote, Does not meet any of the "keep" criteria above, seems similarly reasonable -- indeed, it's pretty much implied by the fact that you have a list of keep criteria. But what's the rationale for the other delete criteria? To me, (ii) Transient broadcaster, i.e. has been in over three markets over the past ten years, (iii) Is not in Los Angeles or New York and (iv) Is under 40 seem utterly arbitrary.

If you think this merits a reply, please reply here. I'll be watching this page. -- Hoary 13:39, 2005 Jun 26 (UTC)

  • There are over two hundred markets in the US, and thousands of people on televison, the majority are not notable, save for those in the top two markets Los Angeles and New York, which have stations that can be seen outside of their respective markets, and in the case of New York the major 4 affiliates are distributed abroad. As for the transient issue, there is a lot of turn over in the industry and most of the "talent" is interchangable replacement parts to the point that you have trouble telling people apart. As for the under 40 guideline, the majority of those who are over 40 in the industry have a higher probablity of actually being noteworthy and not an anchor bimbo type. --Spotteddogsdotorg 04:12, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • I thought that the post-Carter era has emphasized opinions from "the heartland", and thus would have expected that faux-hayseed "philosophers" and programs would be springing up across the continent. But even aside from the midwest backlash, doesn't stuff come out of places like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia? (If not, so much for another myth about the US!) Back when I still took the trouble to watch television, I had trouble telling apart even the "personalities" I was told were the most famous -- though perhaps too much of my concentration went to the bimbos. -- Hoary June 28, 2005 04:25 (UTC)

Er, what?

edit

I found your comment on my talk page rather confusing, but I believe the main point is that you accuse Mothperson, myself and several others of sockpuppetry? I would like to direct you to our policies on civility and personal attacks; unless you have any evidence, throwing wild accusations is not going to get you anywhere. Obviously, holding the same opinion as someone else is not anywhere near evidence of sockpuppetry. Radiant_>|< July 7, 2005 11:01 (UTC)

So its OK that you all do that but if anyone else accuses someone of it its not OK. Lovely! Spotteddogsdotorg 7 July 2005 15:00 (UTC)

Problem

edit

Hello, this user has taken a great many images off of my website and is using the domain for my website as their user name, something which I object to. I have narrowed down the suspect list to three persons whom I have had run-ins with, and am wondering how I can remove the content from my site from this one or get my standard usage fee. TheSpottedDogsOrganisation 01:07, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

What's the domain name? -- Hoary 01:40, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

The domain is spotteddogs.org. Most of the directories that the images came from were not protected, but they are now to avoid poaching. TheSpottedDogsOrganisation 02:40, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

This is a painfully obvious lie. Please see the discussion above.--Pharos 01:54, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

This is not a lie, and I hate to distrub your free hippie co-op here, but some of us are capitalists. Now people do stupid things when you threaten to sue them over copyright infringement as one of the three people I suspect and contacted did by asking for the images removal. As for your "GNU Free Documentation License" it is hippie BS. TheSpottedDogsOrganisation 02:40, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I would like to see this lawsuit filed against yourself in a court. I hope you win.--Pharos 02:46, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Pharos, you are obviously not a reasonable person and I would definitely not contribute to your silly project, since it has no crediblity at all as anyone can just go and put whatever up on it regardless of where it came from. It will this site's downfall since anyone can edit it. TheSpottedDogsOrganisation 02:58, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

You mean "anyone" like Kaibabsquirrel with whom you apparently had a dispute and is the reason you want your images removed? Anyway, just don't become like Sollog and dedicate your life to fighting Wikipedia. That way lies madness.--Pharos 03:10, 19 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
"TheSpottedDogsOrganisation", your edits to WP start at a curious time and are curiously similar in gist, tone, and idiolect to those of "Spotteddogsdotorg". Yet you claim that you are somebody else. • I have no idea what you're talking about. Your account is less than a half hour old, so I can't say anything about any alleged previous interaction between you and Spotteddogsdotorg. The reason Spotteddogsdotorg was banned has nothing to do with your brand-new account; the reason was continuous vandalism, which Spotteddogsdotorg never gave up on.--Pharos 18:47, 31 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I hacked Spotteddogsdotorg account after he was mean to me on the televison news talk board. He had a very easy password that I was able to get. He promised to send me an old WCAU tape because my mother left me and I wanted to remember, but he did not. I then made all sorts of vandalisms using his name and a anonomus proxy software to get my revenge on him. He has also made fun of me there and has been really mean to me. You should not be mean to people that have had their mother left them. I think the revenge has ended now, but the people on the televison news talk board said I am crazy and was going to kill myself. I am not going to do either and I have given up on the televison news talk board since they are mean people who think I am crazy and have nothing to contribute. I showed that mean person that they are useless since they got screwed up here. Those people think I am crazy but I am not. I tried to hack Spotteddogsdotorg's website but he banned me. So I made it so I could screw with his preciuous Wikipedia. That is what you get when your mother leaves you. If you have any old WCAU newscasts when they were CBS please talk to me. Ever since my mother left I have wanted to relive those days. MrPhillyTV 17:23, 6 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image:LeonHarrisWJLA2005.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:LeonHarrisWJLA2005.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Localzuk(talk) 01:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Qcuds.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Qcuds.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned fair use image (Image:BolarisWCBS2005.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:BolarisWCBS2005.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Image:IEPromoWJLA1993.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:IEPromoWJLA1993.jpg.

Thank you. Tony Sidaway 21:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:IDWNVC2005.jpg

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:IDWNVC2005.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Fair use rationale for Image:IDYES2002.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:IDYES2002.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Orphaned non-free image (Image:AlpineTowerNJN2001.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AlpineTowerNJN2001.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:23, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Mpud.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mpud.jpg.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:36, 26 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 19:36, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
