Talk:WrestleMania XXX - Divas title match

Hey, I saw your response and I'm sure there is a reliable source of being the first time the Divas Championship is on the line at Mania as well as the first women's title match since WM 23. But like I said, it might not be relevant as other PPVs don't point out those facts. Talladega87 (talk) 18:39, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

@Talladega87: - you're sure, but have you looked? InedibleHulk looked and could not find any (the Diva-Dirt one was not written by the website, but it was a comment). In fact, I did a search yesterday as well, and I also could not find a reliable source. Maybe one will appear in the next few days. That said, I have a rather nifty solution to implement the "fact" in a note rather than in the main text. starship.paint (talk | ctrb) 02:13, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
@Starship.paint: - I researched based on looking up the last several WrestleMania's which mostly has been tag matches since WM 23 but it will be acknowledged at some point by reliable sources. But some know it from historical facts. Talladega87 (talk) 03:50, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
@Talladega87: - no need to ping me on my own talk page, I will be notified of new posts on my talk page. My point is that it can't be you researching and saying it, it has to be a reliable source. Anyway, InedibleHulk has already added the fact to the article using "cite episode" of a recent episode of Raw where one of the commentators said it. However, that is not that verifiable to everyone, so a reliable online source being explicit is better than the "cite episode", and I will look out for an online source in the future. Expect that info to remain in the article unless challenged during a Good Article review. starship.paint (talk | ctrb) 07:59, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Look, I'm not saying that I want to put it in (reliable or not), all I was saying that it's a historical note and if there was a reliable source, then perhaps it can be included. Nothing else. Talladega87 (talk) 00:45, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
@Talladega87: - success. Included. starship.paint "YES!" 01:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Nicholls etc.

I'm adding the GHC Heavyweight title defense to the Nicholls article. I reverted the edit on the Japanese puroresu template; DDT is not a major promotion and there's a pretty strong case to be made that Zero1 isn't either anymore, but I left it the way it used to be for now. I wonder how one could actually determine what's a major promotion and what's not? Just attendance numbers? リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 09:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

There was a time when NJPW, AJWP and NOAH were the big three, but recently NOAH and especially AJPW have slipped a lot. I would argue that Dragon Gate is the current #2 looking at their attendance and media attention in both Japan and around the world. This is of course just my opinion, but I would rank NOAH number three, Wrestle-1 four and AJPW five. I've actually thought a lot about Zero1 as a "major promotion" recently, since their shows draw miniscule numbers and they just basically look like a glorified indy promotion. From everything I've seen from the two promotions, DDT does actually look bigger than Zero1. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 10:07, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

April 2014 GA Thanks

On behalf of WP:CHICAGO, I would like to thank you for your editorial contributions to Money in the Bank (2011).

Open SPI assistance request

Hey there. I have an open SPI case against the editor that's been actively changing the Results section of WrestleMania articles to remove the numbers from "Pre-show" and etc. Wondering if you could toss in your two cents, too. Thanks! Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Person512 Antoshi 23:38, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Use it in good health!

Thought I'd drop in this link to help those so inclined help improve the Wrestlemania XXX article among others as you'd mentioned you were itchin' to do on its talk page. That's a sign of addiction by-the-by; take care you don't go cold turkey so we can still have good articles. :) Papacha (talk) 11:03, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Miguel gave me the clear on a smörgåsbord of images that I'll have to upload and edit proper soon, feel free to check 'em out once they're moved to the main account. Mostly Axxess images I felt were being overlooked for 'Mania; I'll attempt to Commons at least a few of them tonight. Otherwise I'm prolly gonna have to e-bash some heads for not giving the fellow well-earned credit. Papacha (talk) 18:03, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

GA review

Hey Starship! I noticed that you have nominated NXT Arrival for GA. I will review it but can you also review Cody and Goldie? Plus, it will be amazing an NXT article to promote to good article. Cheers! FairyTailRocks 12:36, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you for the criticisms and some reminders in sourcing, I will keep that in mind. Anyways, I have reviewed other GA before like American football and basketball but this my first time reviewing wrestling articles. It wouldn't hurt if I review this since I am an avid wrestling fan. If you agree/disagree on this offer, I respect your decision. Just keep up improving wrestling-related articles. :) FairyTailRocks 05:47, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah it was already restored and removed all the unnecessary details. Sure no problem, if you're done with Wrestlemania and all the pictures, you may respond to some problems regarding NXT Arrival. At the meantime, I will find another GA reviewer for my article. Thanks! FairyTailRocks 02:09, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Hey! Before I start my review for NXT Arrival, there's one more thing I like to ask. Since you're in a shopping spree, could you find any decent or good photographs of Goldust, Cody or both in Wrestlemania or in any occasion on Flickr? Those photographs of Triple H are pretty badass. FairyTailRocks 09:58, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
We could crop/zoom this to focus more attention to Goldust. For Miguel Discart's pictures, I only found this which is kinda blurry. Also cut off some excess in Cody's picture. Well, its better have some than never. Thanks! FairyTailRocks 13:34, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Please also upload the Big Show. FairyTailRocks 13:39, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Not really, as there is a picture of them in any occasion (Raw, Main event, Smackdown, etc.) I accept that. Also upload the picture of Cody you sent to me. Thanks! FairyTailRocks 07:29, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of NXT Arrival

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article NXT Arrival you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of FairyTailRocks -- FairyTailRocks (talk) 02:21, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Warrior

One thing after another in this photo saga, eh? Anyway, if the passing of the torch screenshot doesn't get deleted we should probably leave that on and get rid of the Randy Savage chokehold. It's obviously a more important moment, and despite being low res, it's better quality. The Savage one could be useful on Randy Savage though. We don't want to go from not having enough images on The Ultimate Warrior to having too many (of varying quality no less).LM2000 (talk) 06:00, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your work for project professional wrestling, for quality articles, putting your money in the bank of extreme rules, for gnomish work on quality with entertaining edit summaries, for remembering The Ultimate Warrior and wrestling for fairness, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

--Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:24, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: - wow. I am really honoured - did you really read my edit summaries back until 2012? Haha! I will continue editing as such... there is more coming from me :) but really, thank you Gerda! starship.paint "YES!" 06:45, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
bzzt: before proclaiming someone precious I always look what he did then, it's easier and less hurtful than looking into "pride and prejudice" on my user page ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: - I see. I skimmed through "pride and prejudice" a bit. When I started reading it, I would have supported a ban as well. As I read on, I realise that... maybe I can't really comment because I've never worked with that editor before. Some part of me would still call for a ban - but I guess I will approach further disputes with a bit more empathy. Thanks for sharing.
It's funny though - have you watched the Ultimate Warrior before? Because I have never even watched a single match of his before, LOL. starship.paint "YES!" 07:13, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
To answer the last first: no, I haven't watched any wrestling. - I didn't have much contact with Adrianne and still remember her. - Back to the prejudice: This is what I know (once I counted "thank you" there and stopped at 100), also that obviously he got more and more frustrated and wanted to leave, and then in flames please (and certainly got it). Did you see my comment? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:24, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes - I saw your comment. I read a bit more here and there from the links. Unfortunately I've never had any contact with Wadewitz... starship.paint "YES!" 08:07, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Cindamuse also died, - death putting all these retirements and threats to retire in perspective. I made the first 3 items on my user page an acrostic for RIP (by just switching the order), did you see? Follow reformation ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:10, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Sigh, such is life. I did read your user page - but I failed to catch RIP. Poignant. I know not of retirements nor threats to retire... I have half a mind to stop monitoring AN/I as well. It's not very uplifting... starship.paint "YES!" 12:36, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

(I was busy, singing.) RIP: Reformation · Images · Peace. Unwatching ANI is a great idea until they ban your friends. I rescued the last one, ruined my name but don't care ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:26, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

You're good, Gerda., you're good. I don't think my fellow pro wrestling editors will end up at AN/I... and if they do... I hope they're smart enough to ask for help when they need backup. starship.paint "YES!" 07:03, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
It was too early in the morning (where I live, you read it in the Signpost, pictured) for precise language ;) - I don't watch ANI, I never went myself, but I need to go for defence sometimes. Gerda, maybe you could post on his user page then. Posting on a redirect seems iffy to me. starship.paint "YES!" 07:01, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Well, I could. However, I never saw a redirected talk page before (and I saw several banned user pages, see one, two, three, three also, "I know a bank where the wild thyme blows ..."? Missed, missed, missed ...). I also didn't see by what authority he is banned, looks like getting a few supporters is enough for tagging someone as such, my post was a silent protest, - putting it on his user page would be a loud protest, I am not brave enough yet ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:22, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you ;) - you deserved an extra Precious, but normally I give only one. Today for scuttling (star ship). I had to ask what the term meant when I met it the first time, but certainly knew it the second. (Banned with great ado afterwards, see above, guess he enjoyed it.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:10, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Eh don't mention it! One is enough, haha. Anyway, I learnt scuttling from Asterix. starship.paint "YES!" 09:17, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Better? Better food? Or do you mean if I'm feeling better? Well, I don't digest being reverted easily, how about you? - I feel good because I have unplanned nice work: I nominated Cantiones sacrae for DYK, expecting normal processing time, but it will appear soon, try to improve as I can. I described my mixed feelings in the hook. Did you see the hook mentioning prison, before? (User page, will stay.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:20, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
  • I meant better food... I am rather straightforward. Regarding ColonelHenry, I see that Scott has revoked his talk page access... and apparently site bans apply for all edits... so there's no chance of him commenting there again. However, I don't think Scott can stop other people from posting on the talk page. Unless you want to comment again on ColonelHenry's talk page again in the future... I'd leave it for now. Did you mean prison in the Cantiones sacrae DYK... I can't see it... music is one of my worst suits. starship.paint "YES!" 07:24, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the better food. Talk page access was revoked long ago, but the page was redirected again more recently, preventing me (and bots and anybody else) to say something. I think it's not warranted in any case (but am not in the mood to fight, I asked precious Scott a few questions but saw no answer yet). "Prison" is in a different hook (well before the case), just look for the word, has nothing to do with music ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:01, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, found it. Interesting. I never paid much attention to DYKs in here... and the first one I've contributed to is not going well. I'd suspect it will never pass. starship.paint "YES!" 06:39, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
Did you know that I saw that one, but it looked like too much reading? (I avoid math also.) - Yesterday I had to edit an article that made it to the Main page well before being ready, - the other extreme. There's also the JCIRT discussion that made it to Jimbo's page. - Can you give me a short version of the discussion? Can the article be mentioned in a hook that is now a red link? (That's my approach if something doesn't work, like a 5* expansion would blow up an article too much.) Can you try something simple and undisputed first? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:56, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
I looked. Newyorkbrad has all my respect. However. I recently rescued another "unwanted" politician, - sure, the hook was less sensational, but better than nothing. I suggest you come up with a neutral hook without image - just her name and position would do to attract me as a reader - and ask for a fresh review. The article is decent and should be shown,my POV,
Thanks for looking through Gerda, it was indeed a rather long discussion. I will see what I can do with the article. Your Katsanevas hook was good, actually. starship.paint "YES!" 08:42, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: - may I bring to your attention in the Idstein article... In 1959, the dominant tannery in the middle of the town core was shut down for economic reasons. In 1956, a devastating flood had destroyed it. - contradictory claims? Today, new shops and apartments surround the Löherplatz, since then the market place. - should "since then the market place" be replaced with "which is now a marketplace"? starship.paint "YES!" 09:44, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes to the last. Market twice a week. - The flood is not mentioned in German. The tannery in Ehrenbach is not operating anymore. I was so surprised how much detail is offered in that article, - who cares about our (lousy) bus connections? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:57, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Can you revert my last two edits on Sports-related curses? I'd do it myself if I wasn't worried about making it three in a row.

The Golden Girls. I was going to tie it in with a joke about The Glamour Girls, but decided it'd fly over your head. Figured everyone sort of knew The Golden Girls. I'm not sure, but I think Betty White is still fresh. Do the kids still say "fresh"? Did they ever? Do you know who the Fresh Prince is? InedibleHulk (talk) 08:31, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

Fresh Prince? Only thing that comes to mind is JBL's silly "Goodnight, sweet prince!" I even never watched Friends... but I could have. starship.paint "YES!" 08:39, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Meh. You didn't miss much. The only one that does matter is The Simpsons. You should definitely watch every episode, if you haven't. InedibleHulk (talk)

It's worth it. Just 548 episodes. Ten days, if you don't sleep. If you can only spare 23 minutes, at least watch Homerpalooza. One of the best, and quite relevant.
"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. And it'll happen to you, too!"
Did you know there was a time when vampires were actually cool? Did you know that video's 2:47 long and Homerpalooza is the 24th episode of the seventh season? Coincidences all day. Did you know today is a special day for Cypress Hill?
My Easter egg for you, grasshopper. InedibleHulk (talk) 11:55, April 20, 2014 (UTC)
Also, it's Peter Frampton's birthday on Tuesday. He'll be 64. Paul McCartney (who appeared in "Lisa the Vegetarian") wrote "When I'm Sixty-Four". He did not write "Ruby Tuesday". That was Keith Richards (from "How I Spent My Strummer Vacation"). Homer Simpson sung "When I was Seventeen". 1764 was a leap year starting on Sunday, which have three Friday the 13ths, 13 weeks apart. Well InedibleHulk, I've been reading the PWTorch and prowrestling.net recaps of Total Divas, and apparently there's much to learn from that show regarding women. If you're trying to starve off marriage to a woman, you can learn from John Cena, he bought a house for Nikki Bella to postpone marriage to her. If you're looking to starve off sex, you can learn from Tyson Kidd and Natalya, but I can't remember how Kidd did it, sorry! starship.paint "YES!" 13:31, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

It seems WWE has repaid Canada for giving them the Harts, Jericho, Benoit and the rest by refusing to let us watch their matches. "Somewhere else" wins again. The Rockers vs La Résistance was pretty cool, too. InedibleHulk (talk) 06:30, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

Now I've really done it

Sleeping beauties, awakening dragons, royal blood, nameless children, approaching birthdays, Elizabeth of York, grandfather clocks, spinning wheels, tall tales, the whole nine yards.

Bing, bang, boom.

I didn't even know it was his birthday soon. And I forgot I'd mentioned the exact same dragon eggs with the prince a year ago (in the "Trivia" section of the "boom" link). Again, I don't think you can help. Just explaining why I may have to further postpone The Ultimate Warrior's picture issue. InedibleHulk (talk) 10:06, July 20, 2014 (UTC)

I made a comment, not sure if it helps or anything. Also took a Red Seven out of the article. Just a minor edit, not sure what I'm implying with that link. Now the main characters die every week and they're fine the next, so there's clearly nothing to fear from the villains. Your entire generation is ridiculous, boy! But you're alright. InedibleHulk (talk) 10:54, July 23, 2014 (UTC)
Wait. I also now know Han Solo once said "Never tell me the odds!" And Ewoks live on Endor. InedibleHulk (talk) 11:03, July 23, 2014 (UTC)
There are lots of Darths, not only Vader. Episodes I-III had Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus and Darth Sidious (later the Emperor). What do you mean about the main characters dying every week? Isn't that Game of Thrones? But there's always SuperCena! starship.paint ~ regal 13:30, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
Every week on RAW, there are matches between top guys. Someone has to job, but it doesn't matter, because they'll still get title shots at the PPV, usually against the same guy they've recently lost to. Since the losses don't matter, and the heel has lost many times himself, when the "big match" rolls around in 3-4 weeks, fans don't have reason to fear the heel or root for the face. They just think "Let's see what WWE decides to do with these two this month."
With jobbers, you had win streaks, and when two guys on streaks met, it was special. The unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. The current Intercontinental Champion has had a negative win-loss differential for four straight years. And how many times has Cena lost the belt? 14? It's wrong in so many ways. In Game of Thrones, people don't "get their heat back" and become king a few episodes after they're killed. That show makes sense. InedibleHulk (talk) 14:54, July 23, 2014 (UTC)
  • You're right. The problem is WWE booking. It's okay not to have permanent nameless jobbers, but they don't know how to use fully their roster. Why keep leaving Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, David Otunga off TV? Why confine Titus O'Neil, R-Truth, Heath Slater to Main Event or Superstars? They should have them job on Raw or SmackDown to whoever they want to push, instead of having the IC and US champions lose in non-title matches.
  • It doesn't really matter if Cena loses the belt though because he is so protected. He also doesn't lose heat because he's so established. 11th reign (SSlam 13) - lost to Bryan with arm injury. 10th reign (HIAC 11) - lost in triple threat without being pinned after being locked out of the cage and after interference by Ricardo. 9th reign (SSlam 11) - leg was on the ropes I believe. 8th reign (MITB 11) - gave up winning position after distracted by outside interference. 7th reign (F4W 10) - attacked by Nexus during match. 6th (EC 10) - Batista MITB-esque match after Elimination Chamber. starship.paint ~ regal 15:39, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
I could rant for pages about WWE booking (but I'll spare you). I agree on the first point, those guys would be better off as Brooklyn Brawler types than...whatever they're doing. Been a long time since I've seen non-PPV WWE. Haven't even heard the card for Battleground, let alone watched it. I might do that now, actually.
As for Cena being effectively protected, all those losses hurt his legacy in my eyes. It's like they're blatantly doing it just so they can say he topped Flair, which is just one more way of spoiling kayfabe for the sake of trying to top themselves. If they'd just slowed down, kept it "real", made wins matter and stopped kicking out of every fucking finisher, WWE wouldn't be in this pickle.
But they are, and there's nothing people like me can do about it but watch UFC. Just learned UFC 178 swerved us, and now we're getting one of those classic "unstoppable force meeting immovable object" battles. 15-0 vs 20-1. And Jones' only "loss" was a DQ for beating a deaf kid too viciously. That's the old school way of protecting your heel. Cena will never beat Flair's DQ loss record, which is why he'll retire sooner. From what I've read of Battleground, just catch the first (non-pre-show) match for the tag titles. The rest... meh, highlights maybe. I don't watch MMA, but even I have heard of Jon "Bones" Jones. Speaking of Ric Flair, I see that WWE sees him as a 16-time world champion. How about TNA and PW Illustrated? The article previously said 20-time for TNA/PWI. starship.paint ~ regal 10:55, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, Flair's reigns are a bit of a headache. I see the article has three different claims. Probably for the best. Adds to the mystery. InedibleHulk (talk) 12:46, July 24, 2014 (UTC)
I fixed the 16 and 21 to sources, that's settled The 26 is the problem, could you help with that? Because I only count 25 titles (10+3+8+2+2). starship.paint ~ regal 13:41, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
No, my math is the same as yours. Another problem is we have the NWA World Heavyweight Championship listed in the C&A like it was a regional title in three separate promotions. Should all be in the National Wrestling Alliance section. Fixed that, but not sure if it's consistent with other articles. InedibleHulk (talk) 14:31, July 24, 2014 (UTC)
It still adds up to 25, because the only odd number is the 13 NWA reigns, every other championship is even. I've read a bit online and there are claims that he's won the NWA title 14 times. Then it will be 26. starship.paint ~ regal 05:41, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
