I'm having trouble posting a page for an organization called Spirit of America Band. They are a field and marching band that won the World Championships of Marching Show Bands in 2006, and they do a lot of good work for our community, and the country as a whole. The page keeps being tagged as advertising, but I think this organization deserves mention in this enormous encyclopedia. Help!!! -point12345 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Point12345 (talk • contribs) 16:57, 4 June 2008
- Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Your article was deleted because it was considered to be spam. If you want to re-add your article, make sure it's notable enough, and also try to maintain a neutral point of view. Also, reading WP:FIRST and WP:SPAMMER might be helpful. Happy editing! AND Corp page
Hello ! We will attempt to edit to format to meet your reqirements. I do have some questions though:
This format for this section on AND Corporation was taken directly from Numenta, which is also a private company. Can you what the difference is in terms of how Numenta profiled there company and the profile for AND Corporation.
As well several other companies and institutions in the AI field are permitted to display their corporate profile on Wikipedia and why should AND Corporation not be among them ? Such as:
Singularity Institute Artificial General Intelligence Research Institute And others Which seem to be fronts for known private interests and companies.
Also in respect of the statement that “Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion” does seems to apply to companies like Numenta, however we feel does not apply to AND Corporation.
I would like to inform you that AND Corporation developed the Holographc Neural Process (HNeT) which is the first and only neuromorphic system based on phase/coherence principles and has been recognized as the Sixth generation breakthrough in Text book series as well as recognized as providing several breakthroughs in the field of machine learning field. This company also holds the core patents for complex domain neural networks (CVNN).
Thanks !

- Hi! If you think the article is notable enough to have its own article on Wikipedia, it is strongly advised that it is written by someone who isn't affiliated with the company, so as to avoid a conflict of interest. To answer your questions, Numenta has its own article because it was featured in the news. If you believe that other articles are written like advertisements or aren't notable enough, I'll be glad to help you communicate that to the community, but it doesn't change the guidelines for adding your article. Happy editing! StaticGull Talk 14:07, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

- Thank you for your support
I would like to thank the community for placing their trust in me during my recent request for adminship, which passed 72 13 2 . Rest assured, I have read each comment thoroughly and will be addressing the various concerns raised as I step cautiously into my new role as janitor. In particular, I would like to thank Balloonman for putting so much time into reviewing my contributions and writing such a thoughtful nomination statement after knowing me for only a brief period of time (and for convincing me that I was ready to take up the mop now, rather than go through admin coaching).
To my fellow admins - please let me know right away if I ever take any mis-steps with my new tools. Should I make a mistake, and you reverse the action, I will not consider it to be wheel-warring (but please tell me so I can understand what I did wrong).
To everyone - please feel free to slap me around a bit if I ever lose sight of the core philosophy of Wikipedia as I understand it - the advancement of knowledge through the processes of mutual understanding and respect. As always, feel free to drop by my talk page if I can be of any assistance. =)
Sincerely,
~xenocidic, 01:04, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

- Hi! I read the edit summaries, but they were mostly just personal attacks. If you would like to constructively contribute to the article, please discuss any controversial changes to it on it's talk page first, also listing why the change should take place. StaticGull Talk 16:18, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Lindy Fishing
I never intended this article to be blatant advertising and still believe that this was a erroneous charge. However, I have reworked it and left out the list of specific product references, as well as mention of the many professional fishermen associated with the brand. I am not trying to advertise, merely inform. What can I do? Fishn4 (talk) 16:51, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! The article you created was classed as an advertisement. If you want to rewrite the article in a neutral point of view, please make sure it's notable enough first. Also, if you're directly affiliated with the subject you're writing about, it may be wise to leave it to someone else to create the article. WP:FIRST contains some good tips too. "Speedy Deletion" of page on Ashok Mahadevan, 9:29 PM, 10th June, 2008
Dear Sir/Ma'am,
I believe that the reason stated for the deletion of the newly created page on Ashok Mahadevan is invalid, in that, in the text, there is clear mention of the individual's considerable professional achievement (he is the Editor of the Indian edition of Readers' Digest.
I do hope this is sufficient basis for the page to be put up. Please let me know whether this is reasonable and I can restore the page as seen as appropriate.

- Hi! Sorry, but in accordance with WP:CREATIVE the subject of the article isn't notable enough. StaticGull Talk 16:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Correction:
As per the WP: Creative, journalists and editors are considered noteworthy. Particularly for a magazine with a global reach and readership such as Readers' Digest. Its on the WP:CREATIVE link.

- Sorry, but as a regional editor the subject fails to meet the criteria to have its own article. However, it might be possible to include the subject in a list of Reader's Digest editors. StaticGull Talk 16:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I dont understand
Dear Mr/Miss I dont understand why you have put my page down for a speedy deletion, it gives the people a example about what films do to influence others, as well as warns people who go to see their football team play at Priestfield (Gillingham). —Preceding unsigned comment added by ParkeJadon (talk • contribs) 15:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! The article you created didn't indicate why it was notable, and was therefore deleted. If you think the subject is notable enough and would like to recreate the article, see WP:FIRST for general guidelines. StaticGull Talk 16:04, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Mac Lee Green
Why did you delete my post on Mac Lee Green? I was hoping to greatly expand the Rocky character listings. Lazz235 (talk) 15:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- The subject of the article wasn't notable enough to have its own article. If you can find a way to assert it's notability, WP:FIRST contains some good tips on creating your first article. StaticGull Talk 15:57, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
incorrect tagging
In regards to your tagging of Mac Lee Green, A7 does not apply to fictional characters, and G4 does not apply to reposted material after a speedy deletion (especially an incorrect one!). Jon513 (talk)
Hey Whats This? Whats Up Here?
Turn Left at Gilgamesh is a legitimate entry! I have seen the play myself and worked with the author on numerous projects in the capacity of a co-producer. In fact, the play is listed in several magazines including the Village Voice as well as in the author's IMDB profile. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradleyfinkelstein (talk • contribs) 15:56, 13 June 2008
- If the play is written about by several sources, please list them in the article. StaticGull Talk 15:35, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism
I don't understand how posting a link to a live performance on YouTube consistutes vandalism. I thought it was convenient to what I wrote about. The guitar that Glen Campbell uses on the Smothers Brothers performance was a Fender Precision VI which calls into question the assertion that the solo was played in the studio on a Danelectro because that statement has no sources.
91Bear (talk) 14:24, 17 June 2008 (UTC) 91Bear
- Hi! In accordance with WP:ELNO, the link was considered inappropriate. StaticGull Talk 14:29, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
You also deleted my comment about his guitar, which may be of interest to guitarists. I thought the deletion was unwarranted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91Bear (talk • contribs) 15:05, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, I've re-added the comment[2]. StaticGull Talk 15:19, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much. The entry was being vandalized by people with a personal vendetta against the subject. Some of their entry could be considered libellous. Thanks again. Gefiltefisheater —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gefiltefisheater (talk • contribs) 15:20, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, but the credit goes to user Gail, who properly undid all of the vandalism. StaticGull Talk 15:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for sharing the credit :) I was going to ask you whether you would consider striking out or altering your warning to Gefiltefisheater (talk · contribs). Given the defamatory information present in the article, blanking it was probably the best thing to do for a newer editor. Gail (talk) 15:32, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Lok Sabha constituencies
I don't think these are suitable for speedy deletion -- they're the same as US Congressional districts, all of which have articles. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 15:41, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! It might be better to put all of the articles in a list, instead of having multiple articles consisting of a single line of text. However, I've just noticed that all of these constituencies have their own article, which seems unnecessary to me. But I don't really feel like evoking another Pokémon Test, so I'll leave everyting as it is. StaticGull Talk 15:59, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
"Speedy deletion" of pages
Hello,
You have marked for deletion the following pages I've created:
*Balasore (Lok Sabha constituency) *Mayurbhanj (Lok Sabha constituency) *Bhadrak (Lok Sabha constituency) *Jajpur (Lok Sabha constituency)
These are a part of the India Politcs Wiki project: Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Politics and the pages are linked to by: List of Constituencies of the Lok Sabha
Please remove the deletion tag or provide justifiable reasons for keeping the tag.
