The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.
Australian articles
editPlease refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. Thank you.
The removal of the word Brisbane from articles will not be tolerated. In addition, inserting sources that do not confirm the text in the article will not be tolerated. Many of your edits break the Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and/or Wikipedia:Verifiability. Many of your actions are destructive. If you continue to do so, your account will be reported to blocking or topic ban (of Australia topic). TravelerFromEuropeanUnion (talk) 13:57, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- I have done none of the things you accuse me of, and I have not conducted any so-called “original research”. All the references I employ are from official sources, and are only used to support information in the articles. If you wish to specify the location of local government areas as being within the Greater Brisbane area, then I suggest that your edits comply with the proper grammatical conventions of Australian English. Otherwise, your account may be the one to be reported. StellaAquila (talk) 14:26, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- " I suggest that your edits comply with the proper grammatical conventions of Australian English. Otherwise, your account may be the one to be reported" - not using Australian grammar on Wikipedia does not break any Wikipedia rules. This is just a recommendation. If you report it, there will be no consequences for me.
- However, your falsification of sources in relation to content is seriously damaging Wikipedia, and the consequences will be severe. Also, the removal of the word "Brisbane" from articles [1] will not be tolerated. Naming Brisbane as a region - your original research [2] also will not be tolerated. This is the last warning. Yatala Drive-in
editOne thing to love about Queensland is how we draw the suburb boundaries so that things that you might think are in one suburb turn out to be in another. It happens all the time. If you want to see the current and accurate boundaries for suburbs, the Queensland Government's Qld Globe is the authority on boundaries, although Google Maps is pretty good too (if you just search it for the suburb name, it will draw the boundaries for you), but if the two disagree, the Qld Globe is authoritative. What I usually do in situations like this is add a mention of the "thing" in the article-you-might-have-expected saying something like "Despite its name, Thing is actually in SomeWhereElse." This helps other contributors from making the same mistake. Off to do that now with the Yatala Drive-In. Kerry (talk) 06:46, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, apologies. I forgot that the drive-in is technically in Stapylton. StellaAquila (talk) 06:52, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia research project, University of Technology, Sydney
editHi! I'm a researcher on the "Wikipedia: our nation's story" research project. We're currently interviewing Wikipedia contributors who work on Australian place articles, specifically Katoomba, Tasmania and the Australia article itself. I can see that you edited the Tasmania article and have edited many place articles beside this one. Would you be interested in doing an interview about your experience? You can contact me here or email me through my user page. Thanks! Francesca FSidotiUTS (talk) 21:33, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
ANI regarding TravellerFromEuropeanUnion
editThere is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.Dfadden (talk) 10:04, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
e.g.
editI notice you have replaced some "e.g." with "for example" and thought you might like to know that "e.g." is actually the preferred form according to the Wikipedia Manual of Style (which is fairly large and covers a wide range of stuff), so just look specifically at this section that deals with common abbreviations. Sooner or later someone who likes to copyedit will replace your "for example" back to "e.g." so I thought I should mention it so you don't waste more time doing it.
I don't know if you are interested, but there is a monthly Zoom session organised by Wikimedia Australia on Wed afternoon called "Drop In and Wiki" which is a informal chat to meet other Australian Wikipedians, talk about what you are working on, ask questions, etc. No need to register, just use the Zoom link at the URL above. If that time slot doesn't suit, you can organise a one-on-one session to chat with someone at a time that suits you better. Just ask at contact@wikimedia.org.au Kerry (talk) 08:28, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Null Island
editHi. While I'm sure the coordinates were added entirely in error, in this edit you overrode the related wikidata value. And placed Moneypoint power station on Null Island. Rather than in County Clare. FYI. Guliolopez (talk) 11:43, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
October 2024
editHello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to the The Quiet Earth (film) plot summary have been removed because they added a significant amount of unnecessary detail. Please avoid excessive detail and high word counts when editing plot summaries/synopses. You may read the plot summary edit guides to learn more about contributing constructively to plot summaries/synopses. There are also specific guidelines for films, musicals, television episodes, anime/manga, novels and non-fiction books. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 18:44, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for October 17
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Seascape (Auckland), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page China State Construction. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
