Cocoa Tea
editAloha. While I admire your speedy deletion skills, I have to ask why you deleted Cocoa Tea. This is a valid article (created by an anon newbie) that I was trying to bring up to Wikipedia standards when you deleted it. Please reply. --Viriditas | Talk 09:22, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting my talk page
editHi Stormie,
Thanks for reverting the vandalism by anon user 130.68.2.63 on my talk page. Do you know anything about him, or was this just an admin job you were doing? He seems to have a real problem with the Baha'i Faith for some reason. I did come over here because of a reference someone quoted to the Baha'i Faith entry, but AFAIK I haven't touched any of the Baha'i articles around here, all I did was say hi to Rick Boatright (who I have seen elsewhere) on the talk page there. Weird. PaulHammond 18:10, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)
- I think his grudge was probably with the Baha'is rather than me - but I think you might have gotten me into something now - have a look here. PaulHammond 02:25, Jan 31, 2005 (UTC)

ethnic sterotypes
editThanks for updating the status on List_of_ethnic_stereotypes. It seems to me that if there is a list of ethnic stereotypes, then it would be appropriate to put an "ethnic stereotypes" section on most, perhaps even all, pages for each ethnicity. I am curious what other wikipedians think of this. I was thinking of picking a random ethnicity and adding it myself, with information from the list, to start a discussion, but I figured there is probably a less controversial way to go about a discussion of this kind. --Paraphelion 11:03, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply on my talk page. I did remove some of the more offensive racial slurs and, perhaps unecessarily, changed wording to use more obscure words.. the idea was that at the very least, it would expose some readers to words they haven't heard before. Some anonymous editor, with little understanding of what a stereotype is, is putting a lot of effort into making it even more confusing and useless and I have lost all desire to work on it. My first thought when it was on the VfD was to keep, and then I thought about how to improve it, and changed my mind, pretty much out of anticipation of what you now see there; I can't imagine anyone has the stomach to correct it in detail and sqabble over some of the smaller factual errors. --Paraphelion 21:47, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Toyslove images
editGreetings. You recently voted to delete several toyslove images because they were orphans, the copyright status was suspect, and there was a URL to a commercial site on the images. The URL has now been removed, the copyright status has been verified, and two of the images are no longer orphans. I was wondering if you might consider changing your vote. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 20:38, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)

editThe deletion of Views of Creationists and mainstream scientists compared was well appreciated. However, many of the "daughter pages" that were created in an attempt by one of the creationists to preserve the POV debate are still around. Since they were a part of the page when the page was asked to be axed, could you delete them too?
These pages are:
Creation vs. mainstream science in biology Creation vs. mainstream science in geology Creation vs. mainstream science in cosmology Creation vs. mainstream science in early civilization

editThanks for the unblocking -- I just tried it out from the office computer and it seems to work jes' fine. BTW, I also repossessed another login (number 13, I think) with the same password: if you want to brave that one, be my guest. --Calton 01:10, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

editFor what it's worth, I didn't recreate that article. I came upon it in New Pages, recreated by an anonymous user, and tried to list it for deletion. About ten seconds later, my IP was blocked. I sent you an email about it. I don't know much about the mechanics of Wikipedia, but I hope this sort of thing doesn't happen very often. It's incredibly annoying. Binadot 21:11, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it, Stormie. I understand the deletion process can get very muddled, especially when it comes to repeat offenders. Binadot 21:31, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I noticed the tag you put on my article for the movie 2 Days in the Valley and have been unable to duplicate a similar tag for other movie articles that I've started. And I can't find a reference to it on the Wikipedia (is it just me or are things hard to find around here?) help pages. So what's the secret for adding those tags, if you don't mind letting someone else in on the secret? Thanks, Dismas 07:41, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Return of the Untagged Image project
editYou were kind enough to contribute to the Wikipedia:Untagged images project; I beg to draw your attention to part 2 of the project - there are about 12,000 more images in need of tagging. Any assistance you could provide would be most welcome. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk)

editThanks for not being too trigger-happy. I was pretty embarrassed when I realised that I'd let it happen. Ambi 14:19, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hello Stormie. Thanks very much for intervening. Ambi has finally edited the talk page, we may start to move forward constructively.
I should point out that I would never just revert someone else's well meant contribution, even if I thought it of low quality. It is almost always posible to sensitively incorporate the best parts of their work into an updated article. I have, howver, been reverting the unjustified revertions.
Is there an explicit policy about this? (I mean about being sensitive to others contribution, not the three revert rule.) If not I think that there should be one -- never completely revert well intended contributions. It's an extention of the "be bold not reckless" theme.
Could you have a look at other revertions that Ambi has made? I am aware of a few other revert wars she has started. It worries me very much that she is on the arbitration committee.
This sort of thing can destroy Wikipedia. I for one will not be writing another article for a while -- it just takes too much angst.

Military history of Puerto Rico
editHi, how are you? I submitted the above mentioned article to be considered for featured article status. I would be honored if you could take a look and express your opinon here: Featured article candidates # Military history of Puerto Rico, Thank you very much Tony the Marine
Friendly Chat
editHi, I just thought that I would let you know that Linuxbeak has nominated me for adminship. I would like to invite you to participate at WP:RFA if you wish to do so. Thank you and take care Tony the Marine
Stormie, it is always great to hear from an old friend. Thank you for your kind words. You that I've always considered you as one of my Wiki mentors. If I am elected administrator, I will be looking for you for advice and guidance.
I need a favor. On May 31, 2004 I created the article Arturo Alfonso Schomburg and on December 2004 another user wrote about the same person with the title Arthur Schomburg. I don't want to do the merge myself because since I'm one of the parties involved I don't think it would be proper. Could you look into this when you have time? Thank you buddy, Tony the Marine
Thank you
editStormie thank you for the merge. I believe that the article should be titled as Arturo Alfonso, since that's his birth name and he never changed it. What happened was that when he moved to the states, people started calling him "Arthur". They "Americanized" his name. Like me, my name is Antonio but, everybody called me Tony since I was a child. Take care Tony the Marine
Question
editStormie, do you think that it would be improper to move the comment made under my son's vote in my nomination to the comment section? I'm afraid that the comment placed there will create a distraction to the voting process and turn into a debate but, I don't dare move it because people may take it the wrong way. What do you think? Tony the Marine
Thank You
editWhat a year! My first year in Wiki, a featured article and now administrator. Thank you for your support. I feel honored to have befriended you so, now I'll be pestering you asking you for advice and guidance (smile). Tony the Marine (UTC)
Stormie - I recently posted an article for Nurofen - it uses some material from the Nurofen.co.uk website which is publically available. I am an employee of the brand owners and we have no objection to this information appearing in it's original form on wikipedia thx
- Thanks for that - I see you are posting from an ip address that appears to belong to Boots. I have rewritten the article anyway to give it a more encyclopedic tone, please jump in and add to it! —Stormie 00:52, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
RickK
editStormie, I just found out the sad news that RickK is leaving Wikipedia. He was a very dedicated contributor and I learned alot from him. The thing that worries me the most is that I have seen some good wikipedians quit the project because they believe that the project is to soft on vandals, trolls, etc. Do you think that Wiki policy should change in anyway to discourage those who want to destroy it and encourage the good Wikipedians that are here to stay and those who left to come back? I don't know, I just hate it when good people leave. Marine 69-71 06:30, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
prpoint
editdear stormie
I have given some useful links in the Public Relations. I find that you have deleted the same. May i know the reason
- My apologies, I only intended to remove the links to the Yahoo groups, not the other websites, but it rolled back all of your changes. I have restored the links you added to prpoint.com, primepointfoundation.org and imageaudit.com.
- As for the Yahoo groups.. we don't tend to go in for links to forums, discussion groups, search engine listings, etc. on Wikipedia except maybe in cases where there are no actual useful websites on a subject. And as you can see from the external links section on Public Relations, there are heaps of useful links already. —Stormie 00:01, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
Request
editHi Stormie, I would like the edit history of Nina Sky redirected to Natalie and Nicole Albino, I believe that I did a pretty good job merging the articles but, I don't want to mess up the edit history. Can you do that for me? Thanks alot. Tony the Marine 05:10, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- (P.S. One of the reasons that I suggested the merging of Nina Sky into Natalie and Nicole Albino and their respective edit histories, is that the information in the latter was pasted from the article I originated except for the first sentence.Tony the Marine 05:43, 15 July 2005 (UTC))
Thanks for Support Saving User Photo
editThank you for the vote to keep my user page. I was banned here a year ago because a tiny minority of admins decided I wasn't suitable, well now I'm back, and I don't plan on getting banned again. It only took this guy Raul654 a few hours of me being reinstated before he started attacking me with his pals. I'm a lot more defensive now than when I started more than a year ago, that's for sure. Once again, thanks for helping me keep my user photo! Plautus satire 15:13, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
Tri Nations
editActually, Stormie, the post-match interviews aren't available to me. I'm from the States, where the Tri Nations isn't available to residential TV viewers (with the possible exception of people with big satellite dishes, which I don't have), not even on pay-per-view. I updated so quickly because I had a live (text) match tracker up on my computer. Cheers! Dale Arnett 15:14, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

editHi, I found your user page from the list of australian administrators, and since you're also from NSW, I was wondering what you thought about Template_talk:In_the_news#Brogden. There appears to be (imho) little concensus to keep Brodgen there, but nothing's been done about it. Thanks. Enochlau 11:25, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

The deletion is not to prove a point, but to prevent SPUI from subverting a valid AFD by recreating deleted material, albeit in a different space. This is clearly what he's doing. The paragraph he keeps reinserting is a cut and paste job from the article deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/White Horse Circle. Turning a delete into a merge/redirect is clearly an abuse of AfD. If we're to allow such things we might as well shut down AfD as we allow every vanity article to be merged/redirected to the subject's hometown, or an advert for a local bar to be merged/redirected into an article on beer, and the like. It's ridiculous. If SPUI wants to improve the article on Hamilton Township, more power to him, but he should actually write something about the town, I'm sure there's more to be said than, like every other town, it has a circular strip of asphalt, which for some reason he needs to describe in great detail. -R. fiend 21:22, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
3RR does not apply to vandalism. --SPUI (talk) 21:24, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
David Campese's point totals
editDavid, I noticed you'd put a comment on the Wallabies page asking how Campese could have 64 tries and 315 points.
Answer (which you probably know by now <G>): Tries were only worth 4 points when he started his Wallabies career. The 5-point try didn't come in until 1992.
Cheers! — Dale Arnett 03:23, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

editCan you please take a look at this person? He's been going around adding fansite links to a ton of game articles. I'm not sure if it qualifies as linkspam, since the sites added are at least somewhat notable (the ones I looked at, anyway) and it's obviously not an advertising vandal. Revert, or is he mostly harmless? -- Saikiri 23:12, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Thumb Nails
editThanks Stormie for the info on thumbnails and how to create them plus how to position a picture in the screen. Really impressed with the quick response from a real person as opposed to the usual auto "new member" reply I thought I was about to read when I clicked on the message box.
By-the-by you might like to know I came on this site in response to an article this afternoon on PM Radio 4 (UK) in which wikipedia was mentioned. (If the radio article is to be believed you can use wikipedia to find what PM is if you don't already know).

I see that you have removed the {{badJPEG}} tag from Image:ACTBrumbiesLogo.jpg, since the original image on the Web page you retrieved it from was in JPEG format. This is fine; the intent of the tag is to indicate that ideally the image should be a PNG, and to encourage someone else on Wikipedia to redraw it to achieve a smaller file size and a cleaner image. In this light I have reinstated the {{badJPEG}} tag. If you disagree, please let me know. —Bkell 22:37, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
