UEFA Cup 2008-09 goal scoring leaders table
editYou said "UEFA does not include these goals in their count, and Wikipedia should not contradict what the organizers consider official. FWIW, here is a link to last year's CL stats on the UEFA website in which they include group stage and knockout round goals only. (Sorry, don't see any stats for UC.)" To be quite honest, you're wrong about you're theory here. The Overall table option takes into account all goals scored throughout the competition. It takes into account all goals scored and the table would be sortable where a reader can sort the table according to which of the three columns he/she wants. Kingjeff (talk) 03:09, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have a link to something official showing that UEFA includes qualifying round goals in their statistics? I haven't run across anything like that on the their website. I don't believe what I stated is a "theory", but I will stand corrected if there are official sources to the contrary. Thanks. SunnyDSunnyD (talk) 02:44, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Further, I see the another link from UEFA that has recently been referenced on the article's talk page discussion. [1] This seems pretty clear about the fact that only goals from the first round on are considered. Again, I'd be interested in documentation (as opposed to rhetoric) supporting your opinion that this is inaccurate. SunnyDSunnyD (talk) 03:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Player | Team | QR | FT | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|
Player A | Team A | 5 | 14 | 19 |
Player B | Player B | 1 | 15 | 16 |
Player C | Team A | 3 | 17 | 20 |
Player D | Team C | - | 10 | 10 |
Here is an example of what I have in mind for an overall table. As you can see, it's just an expansion to what usual table. Kingjeff (talk) 03:35, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I understand your proposal and would support it if UEFA considered qualifying goals official in the count, or if they present it both ways. But they don't seem to, unless you have found otherwise. SunnyDSunnyD (talk) 07:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Why does UEFA have to support this? The table clearly supports both options. Kingjeff (talk) 16:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Because they are the competition organizer and therefore a reasonable arbiter of which goals are considered official for purposes of tracking who has the most. You're welcome to your opinion to the contrary, but you were the one who called for a vote. SunnyDSunnyD (talk) 20:54, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
But you realize you're wrong? Kingjeff (talk) 00:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Umm, no, you've still yet to support your position with an argument other than "you're wrong", so I assume you have none. This is my final reply on this thread. SunnyDSunnyD (talk) 01:04, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
