Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion
editHello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 08:25, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Request reason:
I have made a serious mistake by engaging in an edit war and deliberately fueling the flames, even though I was already aware that this was against Wikipedia policies. I have generally always made helpful and constructive edits on this site, but tonight I messed up and, admittedly, there's really no excuse for it. I would just like to point out that I posted a message on the talk page of Jim1138 (the user who reported me) stating that I was through with this vandalism. I was, however, blocked anyway. I would appreciate it if this block could be reconsidered. Normally, I help improve articles by categorizing them, improving sentence structure, constructing info boxes, and adding appropriate links, which I took a step too far this time by asserting that my way was right. I just now skimmed over your policy on consensus and I see now that getting consensus is exactly what that IP kept telling me I needed to do, which I repeatedly refused to even look into. Admittedly, I should have probably already known about this, considering the fact that I have been with Wikipedia for quite a while now (I edited for months as an IP before making an account). Anyway, regardless of whether you choose to unblock me or not, I assure you that this sort of behavior won't happen from me again as I am a person who generally tries to do the right thing. Have a nice day. Sincerely, Survivorfan1995 (talk) 09:31, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
Accept reason:

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Survivor (U.S. TV series), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Your opinion that it was "better before" goes against MOS. The section is an overview of the series thus far. There's not even an article for the next season yet, and even if there were, it's way too early to add to this table. You also removed a template without a good reason. Also, be careful whose edit you revert. It's a good idea to check the editor's profile first. I see that you've just been unblocked, so I don't know why you would want make an edit like that so soon after. Musdan77 (talk) 01:05, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Survivor related discussion
editHey there, being that you're a regular contributor to Survivor articles, I would love to get some input from you on the discussion I started at Talk:Survivor (U.S. TV series)#Cleaning up Survivor seasons articles -- thanks in advance, Gloss • talk 22:17, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Ouch - i'm working as fast as I can! :) Gloss • talk 06:20, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Haha, no worries! Just funny, as soon as I begin working on the article some tags get slapped on it. But I'll take advantage of it, gives me a little bit of a list of what needs to be fixed. Although, what did you mean with the outdated tag? Gloss • talk 06:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oh of course! No that's entirely my fault, the article was updated to the current season but what I did was take what I had in a sandbox of mine (User:Gloss/Sandbox5) - and copy/paste it into the article, as the version I put together (years ago) was much cleaner and organized that what that page looked like when I found it. I'll be adding those seasons back in very shortly! Gloss • talk 07:02, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- I never thought ya did! My first message was just to rustle your feathers. Gloss • talk 07:07, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty

Redirecting
editI'm confused as to why you reverted my edit. You know that we've been redirecting all of the articles to their season articles or the list of contestants. We cannot simply leave a page blank, not that we should. The point of the redirect is to send readers to the correct page (in this case Survivor: Palau) when searching for Jenn Lyon. When they search for Russell Hantz, they are redirected to the list of contestants. When they search for Kelly Wiglesworth, they are redirected to Survivor: Borneo.
The point of a redirect isn't simply for the link situation. We're removing the links on other articles because there is no sense in linking to "Jenn Lyon" when the page it redirects to is a season of Survivor, when the context of the text we are linking Lyon to will obviously be about the season in the first place. Gloss • talk 02:20, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Also, not that the editor had the kindness of informing either of us, but he's began a discussion about the situation (rather unnecessarily) as WP:ANI. Nothing crazy, but you should at least be aware of it. Gloss • talk 02:34, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Nah, that isn't how it works. Blanking the page and leaving it empty serves Wikipedia no purpose. And the only way to have a page deleted is by nominating it for either speedy deletion or articles for deletion. You may think that nobody will ever search "Jennifer Lyon" as her importance decreases significantly the longer it has been since her season or even her death, but having the redirect there is simply for the few that do/will search her (and every other player who has a redirect to their season's article)'s names. Gloss • talk 02:38, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- An administrator must have found the category and taken care of it, but general practice is that you have to nominate the article for deletion in some way, or the blanking will be undone (as you saw). No worries, though, nobody is in trouble. Feel free to carry and resume working on the ol' encyclopedia. I plan on doing the same. :) Gloss • talk 02:50, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Although, while this is all going on and due to a prior AfD that has been hiding up until tonight (where the consensus was to keep), I believe the best course of action would be for you to revert the redirect and we can open a new WP:AFD. Gloss • talk 03:07, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- There was a second nomination that another editor just found with a consensus to keep. See here - and I'd only recommend it this time in comparison to the Tyson decision because this time there is opposition from another editor, which we do have to respect and allow them to state their opinion in an AfD discussion. Gloss • talk 03:17, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

ANI is a place for editors and administrators to share their thoughts on a given topic. No need to panic over another editor's opinion. Again, no worries. Gloss • talk 03:30, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Please stop putting the blame on me and making it seem like this is my fault. Every article I've redirected has not been controversial enough for any opposition to come about. Clearly this one has had opposition against it, so as I specifically suggested to you, it has to be brought to AfD. But please stop linking my name all over the place saying "but he does it" or "talk to him." Gloss • talk 04:32, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
The article was redirected following an AfD procedure. This means it can only be recreated in the form significantly different from what it was before it was redirected. In particular, there were notability concerns which need to be adressed. Thank you.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:20, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Woah
editI'm worried you're getting ahead of yourself with all of these redirects. The simple articles that could have been redirected are the ones we already have taken care of. The rest are all debatable in regards to their notability. Therefore if there are more you believe should be deleted, please take them to AfD. Gloss • talk 05:27, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Edit reversion: El Paso aka El Chuco
editMaybe I've been hanging out on different sites than you, and it's probably true that El Chuco as a nickname for El Paso isn't as widespread as L.A. is for Los Angeles. I'm from El Paso, too, and I never heard that nickname while I was there, either. But Google "El Chuco" and see what comes up. Hint: I didn't pull that term out of thin air. Nor was I vandalizing the page. Methychroma (talk) 05:59, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
MP RV
editSorry for this rv, but if you watch again, with a slightly cynical eye, you'll note that it's not really that clear what happens in the film, apart from the banter between the two of them. In that respect, there's no difference between the word play here, and in the earlier films: nothing more physical is actually identified. - SchroCat (talk) 21:33, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
El Paso Skate parks
editHow would you suggest that Trinityo12 revise the edit to El Paso, Texas to add skate parks as a El Paso recreation resource?
All suggestions would be welcome.
--Joe (talk) 17:47, 12 February 2014 (UTC):: Thanks for the reply. Yes your comments are helpful. I agree that the article needs to be neutral and will suggest that it be made similar to the Golf Course entry. Thanks for the help. --Joe (talk) 21:06, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

editHello. You have a new message at User_talk:Joe_Decker's talk page.
Re: Help needed to fix a few more Survivor links
editRe your message: I fixed the links for Earl and Susan, but didn't fix any other articles as I didn't see any external links for them. I was a bit lazy and didn't read the entire article, so perhaps I missed it. But you can fix them as here is the format for the URL to the cast bios www.cbs.com/shows/survivor/season/NN/cast/ where NN is the season number. Then you have to click the link for whomever you want to link to. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:15, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Cindamuse. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Considering Simple pest control Secrets without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! I see your point and I've just WP:PRODed the same article you went after. They'll probably block me too.
We don't just blank crap articles (no matter how crap) because it leaves a blank page there. Instead we delete them. Please take a look at WP:DELETE (I think).
PROD won't happen for 7 days (unless we get another hair trigger admin), so it'll still be there when you're back. Feel free to comment. Andy Dingley (talk) 02:52, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
