Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello, Severestorm28, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to ask me on my talk page or place {{Help me}} on this page and someone will drop by to help. Again, welcome! ~ Destroyer🌀🌀 16:51, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

How do I sign my posts?
You can sign your posts in multiple ways. The easiest way (for me) is to use 4 tildes (~~~~), without the parenthesis, at the end of your post. If you are using Wikipedia's VisualEditor, on the top menu hit "Insert" > "More" > then "Your signature". If you are using source editor, hit the 4 tildes next to "Sign your posts on talk pages". You can find more information on signatures at Wikipedia:Signatures and Wikipedia:Signature tutorial. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:54, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Unsigned message from IP user

What does it matter if I get banned from Wikipedia? You wrote on my talk page that if I get banned I won't be able to make meaningful edits. What does it matter since I can't make meaningful edits across the board? For example I can't correct the Project Veritas / James O'Keefe article (can't remember which one) where you say he puts out misinformation and falsely call him a conspiracy theorist. Alex Jones is a conspiracy theorist. James O'Keefe is an investigative journalist. If I removed such nonsense I would likely have my edits reverted immediately.

My "vandalism" shows the closed nature of Wikipedia as I've known for more than a decade. How open is this platform when any edit is immediately reverted within seconds because the thought police are notified of it? It's not really an open platform if there's literally changes reverted in seconds, and that is what I was experimenting with. Will those small changes be reverted and how fast. It probably doesn't happen on all articles. Like I had an article about myself and somebody comes in and edits it and says I'm a mass murderer.. There won't be any reversion of it in seconds. but if it has to do with leftist issues then of course yes.

So if I provide a medical textbook that shows the reality that gender assignment is nonsense and wrong. You'll allow the complete rewrite of the article? Because that's what would be required. There's nothing wrong with transgenderism. This is not transphobic. I do not doubt that with all the things that are screwed up in the environment that people can be born as the wrong sex. I totally believe that. But doctors do not assign gender at birth. A person is either male or female by their DNA and by whether they have a penis or a vagina. This is scientific medical fact. Whether someone feels different is irrelevant. Someone feeling different is the very basis for transgenderism.

The problem is when the Internet came about everyone was given the power to publish their own ideas without credibility and scrutiny and the caveat of that is that lunatics can come up with the idea of gender assignment at birth and then convince enough people that it becomes a movement to make it mainstream, defying all science and reality. but nonetheless none of this will ever make it to wikipedia because it's a leftist platform. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.198.55.252 (talkcontribs) 21:52, October 29, 2021 (UTC)

@76.198.55.252 Hmm, when you edited Sex Assignment, I think you put down your opinions for Sex Assignment. Furthermore, you informed your opinion, and "There is no such thing as Sex Assigment", when you put it down, and on to that, I reverted it because I thought was unnecessary editing. Maybe try not sharing your opinion, since it is viewed public. Maybe submit an edit request later, and try to inform more on to you thinking. Thanks for talking with me about the edit. Severestorm28 (talk) 12:51, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
@Severestorm28 Here is an article for you on medicine https://www.news-medical.net/health/How-is-the-Sex-of-a-Fetus-Determined.aspx .. The first paragraph: "One of the most exciting things to look forward to when a new baby is about to be born is the question, will it be a girl or a boy? While many and astonishingly diverse answers have been offered to this query, the use of modern ultrasonography offers an accurate answer from early pregnancy onwards." There's nothing mentioned about a doctor assigning anything. Whether a baby is a boy or a girl is solely determined by, among many other factors explained in the article, their genitalia. Here's another medical journal on the subject: https://journals.lww.com/obgynsurvey/Abstract/2009/01000/Sonographic_Fetal_Sex_Determination.22.aspx ... Just because the left-wing politicians and activists have dominated much of the Internet and convinced major organizations like WebMD to redefine definitions on their websites you cannot redefine Biology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.198.55.252 (talk) 16:17, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
@76.198.55.252 I think you should clarify it more if you want to add that. But if you want to edit, please inform and clarify. Plus, don't make it your point of view, and you can edit. However, if it is strong enough to confirm that edit, we can leave it where it is. Severestorm28 (talk) 16:28, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Indiana State Road 39, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Belleville. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Ezekiel Clark

I'll just answer you here to stop pinging the other user who may not necessarily be interested in this conversation. I again agree with the decline on the Ezekiel Clark draft as I don't see him as notable quite yet. You can read WP:GNG if you'd like as that sort of sets a baseline for what notability means on Wikipedia. I don't think there are enough independent sources out there that would indicate notability. There are some like you pointed out, but I personally don't think there is enough. Then we can look at WP:NTENNIS guidelines, and he doesn't meet any of those either. So as of now, I don't think he is notable. He may be in the future, but we need more sources for that to happen. Adamtt9 (talk) 21:53, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

@Adamtt9: Ok, so Clark is not notable. Then how can I decline the submission? Do I just decline it? Severestorm28 (talk) 21:55, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
No you can just leave it as is actually. Someone else will come around. It is possible that they look into it and find more sources and accept your draft into an article. If not, you can just keep working on it and improve it so that once the player is notable, you can go ahead and submit the draft for creation again. Adamtt9 (talk) 21:57, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
@Adamtt9: Alright then. Thanks. Severestorm28 (talk) 21:59, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

 Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Archiving

How do I archive a discussion with bots?

Severestorm28 (talk) 14:16, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

The full answer to your question is at WP:ARCHIVE, but I'll give you the basic template call and you can decide if and how you want to modify it:
{{User:MiszaBot/config
| algo=old(90d)
| archive=User talk:Severestorm28/Archive %(counter)d
| counter=1
| maxarchivesize=75K
| archiveheader={{Automatic archive navigator}}
| minthreadsleft=4
| minthreadstoarchive=1
}}
If you copy that entire thing right to the top of this page, it will set up archiving whenever a thread is more than 90 days old (algo=old(90d)), if there are more than 4 threads on the page (minthreadsleft=4). You can change any or all of the above variables to different effect, but generally you only need to worry about the age and the number of threads to keep track of. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 14:15, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

Robert Schnakenberg

Hi, I am Robert Schnakenberg. You keep reverting the edits I make to the Robert Schnakenberg page. This page is rife with false information put there by someone as a joke. In fact, the entire page should be deleted. I did not create it, do not authorize it, and I am not a public figure. Please allow me to remove this FALSE and in some cases DEFAMATORY information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:7000:7F00:D306:B81B:7286:113:4815 (talk) 16:12, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

First of all, I don't think that you added sources to prove why you removed the information, and second, I don't think you are Robert Schnakenberg. However, if this continues, in this way, you may be blocked from editing either way, since there is no proof that your are Schnakenburg. Please put a tag if you would like to delete it. Severestorm28 (talk) 16:17, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
By the way, you aren't in charge of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia-that is, and taking charge of one article is nonsense. No one should. Anyone in this matter may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Severestorm28 (talk) 04:00, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Vandalism warning

Why would you give User:Harryisabeast253 a level 4 warning when they haven't edited since being warned yesterday?-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:34, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

@Ponyo: Maybe it was a mistake. My apologies. I reverted a edit on Blacon, where I checked User:Harryisabeast253's contributions, in which I found a vandalism case. Should I give a warning, even if it was just 1 day ago? Severestorm28 (talk) 21:38, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
You can give a warning if it the vandalism was in the past, but it's useless to continue to pile on increasingly severe warnings if there are no edits from the editor between warnings.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:43, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
@Ponyo: Maybe block him? This user posted maybe an inappropriate message on his talk page. Severestorm28 (talk) 21:40, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
Probably because they're being warned after listening to the last warning. -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:43, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
@Ponyo: Okay, thank you for the discussion. Next time, this will be really needed in case of warnings. Severestorm28 (talk) 21:47, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
@Ponyo: Maybe revoke talk access to Harryisabeast253's talk page? Severestorm28 (talk) 22:39, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

December 2021

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page Christina Ricci has an edit summary that appears to be inadequate, inaccurate, or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 18:00, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

@Sundayclose: I don't think a edit summary I edited was inaproppriate. For advice, you shouldn't stack up warnings when I haven't edited the article for 3 days. Also, some of my other grammar edits were reverted, but no warnings were reported on my talk page. Do you have any other comments to add to this situation? Severestorm28 (talk) 18:58, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
IMO, it wasn't a inaproppriate edit summary. It may be a clear misunderstanding-I did not read the source carefully. Severestorm28 (talk) 19:10, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

First of all, I didn't "stack up warnings". I sent you one warning above. Regarding your edit, you changed "She is known" to "She is best known". Your edit summary was "Grammar edit". Your edit had nothing to do with grammar. The edit changed the meaning of the sentence. That's a deceptive edit summary. My warning above still stands. Sundayclose (talk) 19:13, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

@Sundayclose: Ok, it was a misunderstanding of me. I apologize for that edit, and will make sure indeed to carefully type edits. Severestorm28 (talk) 19:16, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

Blooket sources

There are several books on Google Books that mention "Blooket". For example, "Deepening In-Class and Online Learning" by Swartz, L., A Nyman, D. and A Livingston, M.: "Blooket is a quiz tool that enables students to review content in a multiple-choice format. (Students can be put into randomized groups to encourage camaraderie and collaboration). Blooket will show students the correct answer if they get it wrong.)"[1] That source also states: "There are many apps that can be used innovatively for book trailers and much more. Animoto, Answer Garden, Blooket, Google Keep, Padlet, Prezi, Storybird, Storyboard That, Toontastic, and Whell of Names are just some of the apps available." There is also[2] and[3] If you use these references, be very careful about copyright. Also, I don't think Wikipedia favours the use of Google Books, but it's perfectly possible to create a reference using one of the templates (such as cite book)[1] then just provide a live URL to Google Books. Hope this helps, if you decide to resubmit your draft article. SpookiePuppy (talk) 15:48, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

@SpookiePuppy: Thanks for the books and sources, they really help. I think I should edit maybe tomorrow on this one. Severestorm28 16:35, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
Also, there are a couple of things that might help improve your draft article. Be sure to start sentences with a capital letter, also a capital letter is required for headings and subheadings. In the references, try and add as much information as possible. You may have to go to the code and insert additional parameters. In particular, try to add the names of authors. For example: this review[4] I just found. I've added a short quote to that reference as well. But you can see how much more comprehensive the reference feels with the author parameters added. Hope this helps.

Huggle question

Is Huggle avaliable on iPad and iPhone? Or just Computer?

Severestorm28 20:37, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

The Huggle manual's page on installation mentions only Windows, MacOS, and Linux, so presumably it isn't available on iPad and iPhone. (Mind you, that's a step forward from how it was years ago, when I used to use Huggle. Then it was Windows only, so that I gave up on it when I stopped using Windows and became Linux-only.) The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi Severestorm28. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! --Guerillero Parlez Moi 23:31, 18 December 2021 (UTC) Guerillero

@Guerillero: Thanks. I recently had a problem, in which I used rollback for the first time! However, I used it 10 times to revert vandalism. Again, thanks! Severestorm28 00:44, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Diff

How do I do a diff (meaning a user's edits)? Severestorm28 15:45, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
There are a few ways, most of which are explained at WP:LINKDIFF. Probably the most straight-forward way is to go to either the user's contributions or the page history, and find the timestamp of the diff in question. If you click on that timestamp the URL will look something like https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Severestorm28&oldid=1062794671 with the last string of numbers being the diff. Then, use Special:Diff/1062794671 to link to the diff. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 15:59, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Followup question: Primefac answered as if you were asking how to link to a specific diff, but I read your question as asking how to pick out the specific changes an editor has made from one point to another point. There is no general way to do this for arbitrary diffs, separated by other edits by other editors. In the history page, you can select a start and end datestamp to compare those two states of the page. When there has been considerable back and forth, you can sometimes use this comparison to figure out the residual net changes. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 17:08, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Politialguru

Your comments at SPI are unhelpful. The above case is just an example - there are others. You do not request a CU when an IP is the only sock. But that's not the only thing you do wrong. Most of the time your comments restate what others have already said or they say things that are obvious to anyone looking at the report. So, I think you should avoid commenting at SPI completely.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:30, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

@Bbb23: Thank you for commenting. I will avoid commenting at SPI completely, as like what you said. I did not know my comments are unhelpful until this point, and so I will stop commenting. Severestorm28 22:33, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject Weather 2022 C/B Class Drive

Hello Severestorm28! WikiProject Weather is doing a drive during 2022 to get all new 2022 weather articles to at least C class, with the hope of B Class. I thought you might be interested in the WP Weather drive, so I wanted to drop a message about it. Elijahandskip (talk) 14:05, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

@Elijahandskip: Sounds good! Do I add my name to the list? (participants) Severestorm28 16:25, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
@Severestorm28: You can, but it is not required. Elijahandskip (talk) 16:34, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
@Elijahandskip: How do I add myself to the participants list? What "code" or "link" do I need to add in order to add myself? Severestorm28 16:55, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
@Severestorm28: Use #~~~~. Elijahandskip (talk) 16:57, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
@Elijahandskip:   Done! Severestorm28 17:47, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

swanage drinking bench

Hello you keep deleting my edits to Swanage

Swanage does have a drinking bench, as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSF91Ot20n0

Can you please try and communicate with me instead of reverting my edits and making threats? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.171.181 (talk) 22:40, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
