editHello, I'm Cresix. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Wilkes County, North Carolina, because it seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. - The external links have been challenged appropriately. Read WP:ELNO. Wikipedia is not a link farm. Do not edit war. If you disagree with the policy, get consensus on the article talk pages before restoring. Cresix (talk) 23:04, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- "Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files ... Wikipedia articles are not: 1. Mere collections of external links or Internet directories. There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. Now, instead of arguing with me, please address this issue on the talk pages of the articles if you disagree. That's the way disputes are resolved. Cresix (talk) 01:18, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for not responding sooner; I've been offline. Some battles are not worth fighting, and this is one of those battles for me. I won't revert any more of your edits, even though I disagree with what you are doing. I'll spare you a lengthy explanation of what would happen if I decided to add links to every public library in every county in the U.S., and user X decided to add every Department of Public Health, and user Y added every Chamber of Commerce, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. I think you get the picture about the linkfarm concept. But as I said, I have more important issues to manage here and in the real world. So you won't get any more resistance from me. By the way, there's no such thing as a consensus between two editors, which is why I asked you to discuss on article talk pages. See WP:CON. But that's a moot point now. Have a good day, and thanks for your willingness to discuss this. Cresix (talk) 23:27, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

I have started a centralized discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject North Carolina#NC Gen Web links that you can point to pending a consensus outcome. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 17:19, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
