geo-coordinates for Republic of Macedonia pages

Hi, The Anome

I appreciated much the recent insertions/additions of geographical coordinates made by your bot to new Republic of Macedonia settlement articles. Since a few weeks ago many more new pages now exist. When time permits could that be done for all those new pages ? Best.Resnjari (talk) 06:31, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

@Resnjari: Thank you! If these pages are already correctly categorized, the bot should be able to add coordinates to most of them in its next monthly run. -- The Anome (talk) 10:00, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
Cool ! Thank you for the info ! Best.Resnjari (talk) 05:23, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Lord Buckethead

Lol, I just watched the video twice again, didn't realise first time around, I did another google search, I found this interesting 1, looks like someone tried to find out who it was but didn't get an answer from Barnet Council because they don't hold the records, they asked the returning officer, but they only hold the records for a year it seems. I don't know if that's any help to the article know. Govvy (talk) 09:28, 6 July 2017 (UTC) Govvy (talk) 09:28, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Orwell's list

Earlier this evening The Anomebot2 tagged Orwell's list with {{coord missing}}. That article isn't about a geographical location, so there's no reason for it to include coordinates. It would seem that the bot mistakenly thinks the article is about a location, though I'm not sure why it would. Clearly I'm missing something; could you clarify? Best, – Arms & Hearts (talk) 01:20, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Thank you. Why that happened is a mystery to me: something clearly went wrong there. I will investigate. -- The Anome (talk) 13:08, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Sary-Ozek, Kazakhstan

I have serious problem to verify the existance of this place and question the coordiantes your bot has put on it. The coordinates is far away från the main road. Can you clarify from wh~ere you got the info?Yger (talk) 08:32, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

@Yger: The existence of a place of that name in Kazakhstan can be attested to by a Google Books search for "Sary Ozek Kazakhstan". The bot found the coordinates in the NIMA GeoNames database, on the basis that both Wikipedia, and the GeoNames database each have just one entry with the properties name="Sary-Ozek", country=Kazakhstan, and type=populated place, and that the match also passed a variety of heuristic checks against false positives. The record in the GeoNames database is as follows:
2 -2343162 -3235256 43.25 67.65 43:15:00N 67:39:00E 42TUN9041089462 NK42-01 P PPL KZ 14 Nrus SARYOZEK Sary-Ozek Sary-Ozek SARYOZEK Sary-Ozek Sary-Ozek 2013-04-23 1,2,3,4,5 1 rus_Cyrl2Latn_BGN_1947 2015-10-26
Note that the coordinates in the GeoNames database are quite coarse. A look at a satellite view of the approximate location shows a settlement here: 43°17′04″N 67°40′12″E / 43.28451°N 67.67010°E / 43.28451; 67.67010, which may or may not be Sary-Ozek.
-- The Anome (talk) 11:06, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
@Yger: Further digging suggests that the native-script version of the name is Сары-Озек: there are articles in ruwiki at ru:Сары-Озек and ru:Сарыозек (Алматинская область). I hope this helps. -- The Anome (talk) 11:34, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Since the ruwiki disambig pages at ru:Сарыозек and uk:Сариозек also seem to suggest there's more than one Sary-Ozek in Kazakhstan, I'll also remove the bot-generated coordinates. Thanks for your help spotting this. -- The Anome (talk) 11:19, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
After further deliberation, I've replaced the article by a redirect to the disambiguation page Sary-Ozek. I can see no reason to believe this place exists other than apparently database-generated pages. The name was ambiguous anyway: if the place does exist, the article should be recreated at Sary-Ozek, Kyzylorda Region, per standard naming conventions. I've also updated https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7424832 -- The Anome (talk) 12:00, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Many thanks. I have now deleted the entry on svwp. We have in svwp, for good and bad, articles för all populated places in Kazakhstan, which have an entry in geonamnes , and this one is missing. So I rather have it deleted on svwp, uñtil a more substantial source exist of it existance.Yger (talk) 12:12, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
With help from User:Kabelleger on Commons I have now been able to sort it out. The text in the stub seems to relate to the place that exists on svwp (and geonames) as w:sv:Saryözek (translitteration IS hard). Yger (talk) 16:52, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
@Yger: I have now created Sary-Ozek, Almaty Region, and linked this to the svwiki article via the wikidata entity. -- The Anome (talk) 19:25, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Destination user

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Destination user requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi @The Anome:

I'm letting you know that I removed the expert needed template from the Social Credit System article, which you added in December 2015. Back then, the page looked like this, with a paltry four references. I hope you'll agree the current page is much more thoroughly explained. Thanks Greg (talk) 20:12, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Per this block you laid down[119], having "troll" in one's username is a violation of the username policy? The only thing I see on WP:UPOL regarding trolling is names that invoke a emotional reaction. Boomer VialHappy Holidays!Contribs 17:43, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I removed the coordinates for Santiago River (Eastern Mexico) because they were incorrect, referring to the Grande de Santiago River.
