Simcoe County roadsigns
editHi. I made a realistic (county logo is self-made) sign for Simcoe County Road 124 (Image in the List of numbered roads in Simcoe County and Hurontario Street articles, and would like to replace and complete the existing sign images with them. However, there is a notice in the edit source box not to upload more signs. You made the basic signs; did you put up the notice?
Also, my sign appears faint and blurry in articles. Would making a larger filesize help with the image quality? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Transportfan70 (talk • contribs) 22:11, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

editHey. Not sure how often you visit still, but I would be interested in collaborating with you to see if we can make the Canadian (and esp Golden Horseshoe) roads the model standard. Send me a message when (hopefully not if) you get this. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 01:14, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed. The articles as they are are very barren and often without references. I'm sure you know the joy of finding reliable sources for Ontario road articles - I have been trying to coax the MTO into giving me access to the traffic and geomatics office, which has the archives for the county and provincial road system. I'm currently working on a List of numbered roads in Durham if you're interested in helping out when you have time. Cheers, ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 05:58, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- Nice to see you working on the numbered roads in Durham... One of the first projects that I started on Wikipedia was the list of roads in York Region, maybe you want to check it out? Here's the link: List of York Regional Roads. If you don't mind, I'll start working on your article right now...

- Here's a weird one while we're on the subject. According to Paul Foster (who emailed me), Harbour Road was known as Durham Regional Road 62 until it was transfered to the city of Oshawa in 2002. Searching the net brings up nothing on it, however, it is signed still as DRR 62 on Google Maps, Bing, and my 2010 edition of Ontario Back Roads Atlas from MapArt (who are HQ'd on Bloor Street just up the road). It is not shown in the Transportation Master Plan, and, interestingly, on the AADT data[1] is the text "Harbour Road (R.R. 62) Now City of Oshawa", with (R.R. 62) crossed out. The question is, since the official cartographer even has it wrong, should we include some information on the previous existence of this numbered road? - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 18:33, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
New infobox for Ontario roads
editAfter a looong discussion at WP:USRD (since the Canadian equivalent is effectively dead), I have created a new infobox. I've been making this for the past couple weeks after having too much trouble getting infobox road to work outside the King's Highway system. It uses 4 different colours, depending on the type of road (blue for freeways, green for provincial highways, yellow for county roads, and grey for any other street. I figured as one of the few active people for Ontario roads, I'd bring it to you first rather than just springing it on the articles.
- Template is at User:Floydian/Infobox Ontario road
- Tests are at User:Floydian/Infobox Ontario road/test
Feel free to test out any road or value on the /test page to see if you can break it. Documentation is limited so far but all the parameters are laid out, and generally compatible with the current Infobox road template. Cheers - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 17:36, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Road Names
editI've always wondered where they came up with the name "Fourteenth Avenue" for the concession north of Steeles. To me,
Queen = 1 Bloor = 2 St. Clair = 3 Eglinton = 4 Lawrence = 5 Wilson/YM = 6 Sheppard = 7 Finch = 8 Steeles = 9
So, I was wondering where the extra ones went. Your listing "Roads in Toronto" seems to explain that, with Davisville, Roselawn, Castlefield, and Glencairn showing up as extra concessions. I was wondering where you got this information, it seems a little strange. Especially Roselawn and Castlefield both being concessions, they're maybe 100m apart... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.226.164.77 (talk) 21:58, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- None of those roads were concessions, and that article needs cleanup or deletion. Davisville... maybe, but I'd have to check into that. In Scarborough, Passmore is also sandwiched between Finch and Steeles. That still doesn't account for 13, and Scarborough also follows the concession grid of Durham, unlike Toronto and York. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 06:22, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Umm... Which article are you referring to? Did you mean this? I'm trying to organize the concession roads in Toronto in a tabular format, as opposed to the one we have right now, but it's really never "formally published". Smcafirst the Roadgeek (Road talk) at 05:21, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

- I have never understood 14th Ave either, but 16th Ave is the sideroad before Lot 16 in Markham Township. You can't match the concessions in different townships so Lot 1 in Markham starts on the north side of Steeles. North York is simple to understand in that the road allowances are every mile and a quarter (2km) north from Eglinton. Similarly N/S concession roads are east and west of Yonge Street at the same interval, between Victoria Park and the Humber River (Scarborough and Etobicoke are different townships with unique layouts). South of Eglinton in the former City of Toronto the lots run the opposite way, but Queen, Bloor and St. Clair are the concession roads, that same distance apart. Any intermediate roads on lot lines were acquired from adjoining landowners and not laid out in the original township. Passmore is a concession road, it is Steeles that falls in an irregular place, being the northerly boundary of the Township of Scarborough, and they had a little bit left over. You must have noticed that concession roads don't always line up across township lines. Every concession road jogs at Steeles, and Ellesmere does not match up with York Mills. I can't answer all your questions but the web site at [2] has maps of every Ontario township. That should help. Secondarywaltz (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
3 markers
editTake a look at Ontario Highway 407 to see how to use three markers. Cheers, ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 02:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Discussion about Infobox road
editHello. There is a discussion at Template talk:Infobox road about the addition of customizable colors to the template. It would likely lead to {{Infobox Ontario road}} being replaced by {{Infobox road}}. Any comments regarding Ontario in this discussion are greatly appreciated. Thanks! —Fredddie™ 05:59, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

editHey, I happened to see the 'say no to fair use' thing, and I was wondering- could you tell me what's going on with that? What page should I look at to get information about this? Thanks for any help. Geographyinitiative (talk) 07:57, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
