I wanted to thank you for your help cleaning up some of the pages I've been working on. I'm not perfect! Your contributions are greatly appreciated. Silivrenion (talk) 04:06, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello,
I will work more on this tomorrow, if possible. If not, definitely the following day, sept. 17.
Thank you, Nell Nell 07:08, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
editing of bio for john prendergast
could you please be more specific.
have not had previous complaints about the profile text.
would appreciate your suggestions.
thanks. Nell 07:26, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
You deletions on John Prendergast's page
I am alarmed at all you have deleted.
This profile has been up for quite a long time. No other editor ever asked that all SELECTED ARTICLES be removed. In fact, a WIKI editor included the sub-topic, SELECTED ARTICLES.
Additionally, you have removed two photographs!
I would like the photographs to remain on the page and some SELECTED ARTICLES.
On Samantha Power's wiki page:
Articles
* "The Enforcer: A Christian Lawyer's Global Crusade," The New Yorker, January 19, 2009 * "Rethinking Iran," Time Magazine, January 17, 2008. * "Access Denied," Time Magazine, September 27, 2007. * "The Void: Why the Movement Needs Help," New Republic, May 15, 2006. * "Punishing Evildoers," Washington Post, April 23, 2006. * Abramowitz, Morton, and Power, Samantha. "Democrats: Get Loud, Get Angry!" Los Angeles Times, April 10, 2006. * "Missions," New Yorker, November 28, 2005. * "Talk of the Town: Boltonism," New Yorker, March 21, 2005. * "A Reporter at Large: Dying in Darfur," New Yorker, August 30, 2004. * "How To Kill A Country," Atlantic Monthly, December, 2003. * "Bystanders to Genocide," Atlantic Monthly, September, 2001. * Power archive from The New York Review of Books * Human Rights and Imperialism David Rieff Interview
Will you please remove the note about "resume" now.
Thanks Nell 03:03, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
John Prendergast pg.
thank you.
you didn't address the selected articles that appear on samantha power's page, nor that previous editors approved and inserted "selected articles" and "videos, multimedia" in this page. Nell 04:15, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
John Prendergast
Would you mind removing the "looks like a resume" note until we can get a biography together. Mr. Prendergast is on a book tour now, heading out of the country, very busy time. We will make the changes you request asap. Thank you. Nell 21:59, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
John Prendergat
Wow! You mean you just happened upon this page and decided to relentlessly edit it?
Thought I had explained to you. Do not have the time now to revise Mr. Prendergast's bio, and no, I do not work for Mr. Prendergast nor for the Enough Project.
I would appreciate your leaving the reads like a resume tag off. Nell 00:28, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi, It also works for video, but I do not know teh stub for that. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 09:30, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Re: John Prendergast/ OTRS
Well, OTRS is basically an open email system with volunteers who handle mail directed at the foundation. I myself am only active in a few queues for permissions—mostly dealing with images that copyright holders are releasing freely. It's a more personal and generally more secure way of identifying the people. Basically the ticket you linked to is from the Enough Project saying that they release the text of the web page you linked to freely under CC-by-SA 3.0. However, just because it's free to use doesn't mean that we should copy it; whoever put the "resume" tag on the article did so rightly, as the entire thing is a copied resume from the Enough Project... honestly it really needs to be rewritten (though the messages above suggest that you're facing an uphill climb.) If you need any more help or clarification, just write back on my page. Have a great day, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 13:37, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- If you're interested in helping, you can apply on Meta here; note that given the fact that you're handling confidential and/or sensitive information, they don't let anyone in (similar to becoming an admin, they generally expect some demonstration of "need" of the tools—I got access because being able to verify OTRS tickets was immensely helpful in my usual task of reviewing images for WP:FAC.) There's a lot more to it, I suggest that you head onto IRC (the channel is in the link above) if you have further questions, they can prolly give you more insightful answers :) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 05:44, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Fire Jenga
Hello Theinterior. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Fire Jenga, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to games. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:38, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I just searched Google, and Fire Jenga doesn't appear to be a hoax. It may not be notable, but since a PROD has been removed from the article I think the next step is WP:AfD. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:53, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the Torrie Wilson external links
In cleaning up Niniworld09's mess that she made on the page, I missed that the links were there before that you had cleaned up. Sorry for putting them back and making you do the cleanup again. (It's times like that where I think of suggesting a "redo edit" button at the Village Pump.) Thank you for getting the links section back in shape! —C.Fred (talk) 03:43, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Refund Home Loans
Just a heads-up that I've declined your speedy deletion request for Refund Home Loans. You had tagged it under criterion G4, reposting of material deleted via discussion. I don't see where there was a prior AfD on the subject; WP:Articles for deletion/Refund Home Loans does not exist. However, I am looking at the article to see if criterion A7, non-notable company, or G11, spam, applies. —C.Fred (talk) 03:47, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

My pleasure. Congratulations on your first nomination ... and many more! Here's an icon which they just developed for new contributors to add to their user pages: {{DYK contributor ribbon}}. Best, Yoninah (talk) 23:22, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
DYK for Adams River (British Columbia)
On 17 October 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Adams River (British Columbia), which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Body of an American - The wire
Hi The Interior - You make a fair point, and I may have been a little hasty. Having had another look at it, I think what irked me was the actual sentence used (it's credited to an IP address, so apologies if it was yourself who wrote it on a non logged-in session), as it's a bit random/vague - "the Irish song the Police sing along to". How about something like the following:
"A recurring piece of music used throughout the series is The Pogues Body of an American, which is always played at the detectives wakes at Kavanaugh's Bar."
Does that sound ok? Gus Haynes (talk) 22:39, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Cheers, I'll bang it in, and thanks for the feedback -- that was proper grown-up discussion and concensus and everything. Splendid. Gus Haynes (talk) 22:51, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- A shiny star for my user page! Many thanks :-) Gus Haynes (talk) 23:20, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi it's Forrest writing back about "...references that appear in reliable third-party publications..." on the Dean Silvers page.
Dear The Interior,
I cannot thank you enough, answering my problem would have been enough, but you found an article for me and are willing to help me out, you are truly awesome.
So I think I may need a little help referencing the article you posted, because I already referenced a magazine article from Blackbook (http://thefilmstage.com/the-dean-silvers-indies/) but for some reason that didn’t register as a 3rd-party reference.
So can you please show me how to post both articles correctly? http://www.filmmakermagazine.com/issues/summer1994/obsession.php http://thefilmstage.com/the-dean-silvers-indies/
Also, I have a Wikipedian account (with cookies) under the name "Stair roy" but I think things got a little messed up when I started using this new account.
Thanks,
Fsilvers (talk) 17:43, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Template talk
Sure! I started creating them a couple months ago... I basically just went around to various music templates I liked, copied the framework and tinkered with it (eventually you develop a rhythm). Check out my page (User:Wikkitywack) - I have a list of all the templates I've created with links. For some of the more involved ones, check out {{Merle Haggard}} or {{Waylon Jennings}} - and for examples of band member organization check out {{Showaddywaddy}} (awesome name, eh?) or {{SNFU}} (under "Substantial Edits"). Yeah... so just look at the framework, and if you have questions I should be able to guide you. Cheers, Wikkitywack (talk) 00:10, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Forrest , "...references that appear in reliable third-party publications..." on the Dean Silvers page, I just put in the article.
I just put in the article (I hope it works) for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Silvers.
Also, I didn't know Blackbook was considered a "trade magazine" (it doesn't really look like one on the website www.blackbookmag.com, it sorta seems like it is about everything), if it would have said "trade magazine" on the page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlackBook_Magazine) I probably wouldn't have been going crazy this whole time.
Thanks again for all the help (and I mean all of it), and also for addressing the "reliable sources" tag.
Re: DYK clarification
Technically, you are right. But please consider three points:
- WP is (should not be...) a bureaucracy
- the first time an editor writes something DYK eligible, they are likely to miss some deadline; but going easy on them (and telling them that next time we won't) makes a friendly editing atmosphere and encourages them to write more DYKs
- the article in question was written by a student (see his/her talk page) who was not supposed to go "live" as early as s/he did; s/he made an error and despite having one of the best articles in his/her class, she now stands to loose out on the main page feature...
--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:40, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- You mentioned you raised this issue on a wider forum, can you give me a link to it? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 20:21, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Knapsack DYK
Thanks for your note. I used the "page size" tool for that estimate, but I'm not familiar with it and may have misinterpreted the results. There's no need for you to feel badly. We're all just doing the best we can and there's no reason you would have given the article special scrutiny, especially considering the editor. That said, there's been considerable discussion over whether the DYK process creates incentives that reward quantity over quality. Anyway, thanks for helping out with the DYK system and your other contributions to the project. Will Beback talk 08:22, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Odd messages
Some have called that a "canvassing website",[3] so I guess they're canvassing for it. There's almost nothing we can do about it since he used a throw-away account. If we had evidence to suspect someone of using a sock we could request a checkuser. Will Beback talk 04:58, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello
I just got on wiki and read a message about this "Did you know" thing. It would seem I nominated a Korean War article I created recently for DYK but I think there is some misunderstanding. I'm not sure what all this is so as far as I know I did not request anything about that article. I don't know if there is anything expected of me as result so please if you know anything about this send me a message. I will try and find out a little more myself but you were the one who left a message on my talk page so I am to assume you know what this is about. thanks --$1LENCE D00600D (talk) 00:49, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think I understand a little better now but as for the "war crime" statement, the North Koreans did exactly what convicted war criminals in the German submarine force were doing in WW2. (firing on survivors from sunken ships). You can remove it if you like and I can re add when I find a more specific reference/citation for it. thanks again--$1LENCE D00600D (talk) 01:03, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Everyone likes an attagirl (or attaboy). I agree, gorgeous city. I dont understand what the fuss is about with San Miguel Allende as it totally pales in comparison.... well except maybe the Sanctuary of Atotonilco. Working on expanding Guanajuato state at home and Coyoacán at work (dont tell my boss). Dont know why I find this so addictive!
is that an order?
I just revisited http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheela_Na_Gig and commented on the discussion page... it was a relief to see the page intact, I'm about to thanks the editor who seems to have been keeping it together for the past 5 years. Cheers, Fennel (talk) 07:33, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
