Goodbye
While we've almost never interacted, I've always seen you as a force for good on the project. Losing such a positive contributor to the community is always a shame, but it's especially sad that this all stemmed from the tiniest of misjudgements during a stressful situation.
You'll be missed, but I trust you to be doing the right thing. Take care, and thanks for all your contributions over the years. WindTempos (talk • contribs) 13:47, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you
Thanks for your many years of dedicated service to the project, and best of luck wherever your journey takes you! DanCherek (talk) 13:53, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
You will be missed
Joining the chorus of those saddened to see you go. I remember when I was first starting out as an editor, and at least one other admin was completely dismissive when I asked for help, you were there to help me learn the ropes, and trusted me with permissions like rollback. I honestly don't know if I would have stayed a Wikipedia editor for good after first joining if you hadn't been there to guide me. You've done an immense amount of work to make this website run smoothly, never been afraid to speak your mind even when it wasn't popular, and stood up for those who lacked a voice. We will continue on without you, but it will never be the same. Your humor, wit, and kindness above all will be sorely missed. This is the closest I've ever come to wanting to quit Wikipedia myself; I've decided to stay on behalf of the readers who depend on us every day. But I remain aghast at this situation and how poorly ArbCom handled it, and will agitate for changes, including in the membership of the committee. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 14:26, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you...
...for all you've done here and best of luck for the future. You will be missed. --Ferien (talk) 17:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Hey
just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me and the community. I wish I had done more for you during these times, but I thought that if I stayed away from it all it would help deescalate things. you've always been a net positive for the project, and I hope you'll reconsider it and return. Isabelle Belato 🏴☠️ 19:18, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you
For every administrative action you made over the years. ~~ lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 19:32, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
You're awesome
I do not recall us interacting, but I have always looked up to you as a powerful voice within Wikipedia's LGBTQ+ community and all-around cool editor. Thank you for all you've done TNT. Fare thee well, and don't be a stranger. --Dylan620 (he/him · talk · edits) 21:46, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

- For conduct which fell short of the high standards of behavior expected of functionaries, the Oversight permissions of TheresNoTime are removed. They may seek to regain them only through the usual appointment methods.
- For serious breaches of Wikipedia's administrative norms and of the CheckUser policy, TheresNoTime is admonished.
- The Arbitration Committee wishes to express that Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures § Actions by parties to a proceeding does not apply to TheresNoTime given that a majority of active arbitrators had opposed desysopping them at the time they relinquished their adminship.

A spiral galaxy for you!
Thank you for all you have done for the encyclopedia and its community. Our paths never closely crossed, but of course I know and admire your work as an admin and editor. I've always liked your user name because it had two distinct interpretations (if not more than two): There's no time...like get it done now because if not now when? and There's no time...like time is a construct and all things exist simultaneously. I hope the outpouring of love and appreciation from all your colleagues here gives you some sense of comfort and that you return after taking some time to rest and recover from the recent high drama. A (hopefully!!) kind human, supporting you
Very briefly: In real life I’m in my fifties and a senior attorney. (My most employment-worthy professional “superpower” is parsing procedural rules on the fly in emergency situations. [I think my compound-modifier-hyphenation reflex is of greater benefit to the written English corpus, but anyway.])
I supervise a bunch of young lawyers and you are a far better writer and a far more dedicated advocate than any of them. I don’t have hiring authority, but I would pitch a hissyfit and demand that you be interviewed upon my firm’s next opening, if you had a law license in my state.
I haven’t had the time or wherewithal to be competently up to date on this issue. You seem to have gone outside of procedure and gotten in trouble for breaching privacy concerns. That’s not good, but you meant well and you were brave.
Please don’t leave this project. Please step outside the Wikiverse and recognize that even though you might have done something inappropriate, you at least DID IT, and few would have, and you have that arrow in your quiver forever. You are loved and appreciated
@TNT, you are such a beautiful Song and I, personally, will miss your uniqueness on this project. I stated before that I appreciate you. Now let me add that I will always appreciate you. Your impact here is undeniable. You have affected so many of us in a positive way, even when we may have disagreed. What ever you do going forward I hope with the sincerest desire that it is successful and I have no doubt it will be. Thank you for every contribution. Your passion, your compassion and your dedication to this project has been amazing to see. Many hugs and keep singing you. Remember what I said. As valuable as your contributions are here, what makes you invaluable has everything to do with you and nothing to do with this encyclopedia. Warmest hugs! You are loved! --ARoseWolf 15:08, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
A kitten for you!
Hey, TNT, I don’t know exactly what’s happened, just that you have announced on your user page you are leaving. We didn’t interact on here much, but I was very much aware of you and thought you were a great contributor and admin, and I really admired how you put your photo up on your page, I really admire that. If you see this, thank you for your service.
Hoping for better days ahead
I'm so sorry to see you go, and I hope that'll look less like a necessary permanent solution for you in time. Best wishes to you, either way. Valereee (talk) 15:24, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
A bowl of strawberries for you!
Thank you for your incredible work on Wikipedia, which has improved the lives of so many readers who will never know your name.
As usual, I'm late to the drama and don't really understand it. It's only, alas, after leaving Wikipedia that a volunteer receives a fraction of the credit they deserved to receive while here. Good luck in the future. — Bilorv (talk) 21:04, 5 November 2022 (UTC) |
Thank you
Thank you for being a wonderful, inspiring person to work with on this project.
I hope you return someday, but I understand if you don't.

WikiCup 2022 November newsletter
The 2022 WikiCup has drawn to a close with the final round going down to the wire. The 2022 champion is
- Lee Vilenski (1752 points), who won in 2020 and was runner up in both 2019 and last year. In the final round he achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on cue sports. He was closely followed by
- Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
- BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
- Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were
- Sammi Brie (930), who scored with a featured article, good articles and DYKs on TV and radio stations,
- Kavyansh.Singh (370), who created various articles on famous Americans, including an FA on Louis H. Bean, famed for his prediction of election outcomes. Next was
- PCN02WPS (292), who scored with good articles and DYKs on sporting and other topics and
- Z1720 (25) who had DYKs on various topics including historic Canadians.
During the WikiCup, contestants achieved 37 featured articles, 349 good articles, 360 featured article reviews, 683 good article reviews and 480 In the news items, so Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors. Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.
- Lee Vilenski wins the featured article prize, for a total of 6 FAs during the course of the competition and 3 in the final round.
- Kavyansh.Singh wins the featured list prize, for 3 FLs in round 2.
- Adam Cuerden wins the featured picture prize, for 39 FPs during the competition.
- Z1720 wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 35 FARs in round 4.
- Epicgenius wins the good article prize, for 32 GAs in round 1.
- SounderBruce wins the featured topic prize, for 4 FT articles in round 1.
- Lee Vilenski wins the good topic prize, for 34 GT articles in round 5.
- Sammi Brie wins the good article reviewer prize, for 71 GARs overall.
- Sammi Brie wins the Did you know prize, for 30 DYKs in round 3 and 106 overall.
- Bloom6132 wins the In the news prize, for 106 ITNs in round 5 and 289 overall.
Next year's competition will begin on 1 January and possible changes to the rules and scoring are being discussed on the discussion page. You are invited to sign up to take part in the contest; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to have a good turnout for the 2023 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners and finalists, and thank all participants for their involvement! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. I'm just caught up with seeing that you're gone... That makes me VERY sad. You've always seemed like a valuable editor and you always did little things to help me (and likely others,) out during my time here... I don't know what led to this, but I really hope to see you back at some point. Best of luck!!! You'll be missed. SPF121188 (talk this way) (my edits) 20:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

- At Wikidata, an interwiki link can now point to a redirect page if certain conditions are met. This new feature is called sitelinks to redirects. It is needed when one wiki uses one page to cover multiple concepts but another wiki uses more pages to cover the same concepts. Your feedback on the talkpage of the new proposed guideline is welcome. [2]
- The www.wikinews.org, www.wikiversity.org, and www.wikivoyage.org portal pages now use an automated update system. [3]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 15 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 16 November. It will be on all wikis from 17 November (calendar).
- There will be a new link to directly "Edit template data" on Template pages. [4]
Future changes
- Wikis where mobile DiscussionTools are enabled (these ones) will soon use full CSS styling to display any templates that are placed at the top of talk pages. To adapt these “talk page boxes” for narrow mobile devices you can use media queries, such as in this example. [5]
- Starting in January 2023, Community Tech will be running the Community Wishlist Survey (CWS) every two years. This means that in 2024, there will be no new proposals or voting.

I have seen you are interested in the pronunciation and it is not the first time I see the options A-N-I or Annie. I have an other pronunciations you might also can include as a possibility. - (talk page watcher) The disruptive edit that the IP address you are editing from made was this edit. Keep in mind you did not necessarily make this disruptive edit, as IP addresses can be shared by multiple people. What I would recommend (if you are not the person who made that edit) is that you create an account by clicking this link (and read the relevant policies and guidelines) so that you do not receive irrelevant and/or unnecessary notices like these. - The Wikisources use a tool called ProofreadPage. ProofreadPage uses OpenSeadragon which is an open source tool. The OpenSeadragon JavaScript API has been significantly re-written to support dynamically loading images. The functionality provided by the older version of the API should still work but it is no longer supported. User scripts and gadgets should migrate over to the newer version of the API. The functionality provided by the newer version of the API is documented on MediaWiki. [6][7]

- On a user's contributions page, you can filter it for edits with a tag like 'reverted'. Now, you can also filter for all edits that are not tagged like that. This was part of a Community Wishlist 2022 request. [11]
- A new function has been used for gadget developers to add content underneath the title on article pages. This is considered a stable API that should work across all skins. Documentation is available. [12]
- One of our test wikis is now being served from a new infrastructure powered by Kubernetes (read more). More Wikis will switch to this new infrastructure in early 2023. Please test and let us know of any issues. [13]
Problems
- Last week, all wikis had no edit access for 9 minutes. This was caused by a database problem. [14]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week or next week.
- The word "Reply" is very short in some languages, such as Arabic ("ردّ"). This makes the Discussion tools button on talk pages difficult to use. An arrow icon will be added to those languages. This will only be visible to editors who have the Beta Feature turned on. [15] [16]
Future changes
- Edits can be automatically "tagged" by the system software or the Edit filter configuration system. Those tags link to a help page about the tags. Soon they will also link to Recent Changes to let you see other edits tagged this way. This was a Community Wishlist 2022 request. [17]
- The Trust & Safety tools team have shared new plans for building the Private Incident Reporting System. The system will make it easier for editors to ask for help if they are harassed or abused.
- Realtime Preview for Wikitext is coming out of beta as an enabled feature for every user of the 2010 Wikitext editor in the week of January 9, 2023. It will be available to use via the toolbar in the 2010 Wikitext editor. The feature was the 4th most popular wish of the Community Wishlist Survey 2021.

Recent changes
- You can use tags to filter edits in the recent changes feed or on your watchlist. You can now use tags to filter out edits you don't want to see. Previously you could only use tags to focus on the edits with those tags. [18]
- Special:WhatLinksHere shows all pages that link to a specific page. There is now a prototype for how to sort those pages alphabetically. You can see the discussion in the Phabricator ticket.
- You can now use the thanks function on your watchlist and the user contribution page. [19]
- A wiki page can be moved to give it a new name. You can now get a dropdown menu with common reasons when you move a page. This is so you don't have to write the explanation every time. [20]
- Matrix is a chat tool. You can now use
matrix:
to create Matrix links on wiki pages. [21] - You can filter out translations when you look at the recent changes on multilingual wikis. This didn't hide translation pages. You can now also hide subpages which are translation pages. [22]
Changes later this week
- Realtime preview for wikitext is a tool which lets editors preview the page when they edit wikitext. It will be enabled for all users of the 2010 wikitext editor. You will find it in the editor toolbar.
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 10 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 12 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 10 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 11 January. It will be on all wikis from 12 January (calendar).

Problems
- The URLs in "prev" links on page history now contain
diff=prev&oldid=[revision ID]
in place ofdiff=[revision ID]&oldid=[revision ID]
. This is to fix a problem with links pointing to incorrect diffs when history was filtered by a tag. Some user scripts may break as a result of this change. [23]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 January. It will be on all wikis from 19 January (calendar).
- Some changes to the appearance of talk pages have only been available on
Talk:
andUser talk:
namespaces. These will be extended to other talk namespaces, such asWikipedia talk:
. They will continue to be unavailable in non-talk namespaces, includingWikipedia:
pages (e.g., at the Village Pump). You can change your preferences (beta feature). [24] - On Wikisources, when an image is zoomed or panned in the Page: namespace, the same zoom and pan settings will be remembered for all Page: namespace pages that are linked to a particular Index: namespace page. [25]
- The Vector 2022 skin will become the default for the English Wikipedia desktop users. The change will take place on January 18 at 15:00 UTC. Learn more.
Future changes
- The 2023 edition of the Community Wishlist Survey, which invites contributors to make technical proposals and vote for tools and improvements, starts next week on 23 January 2023 at 18:00 UTC. You can start drafting your proposals in the CWS sandbox.

I know you aren't logging in every day right now and don't mean to be impatient. I just wanted to make sure you are of discussion because I know some people disable pings. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 17:40, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

CSV file
Hi. I'm currently working on User:KiranBOT/MOSTREFS (history). I have created a pywikibot script utilising CSV files that works fine through my computer. But if I run the same script from toolforge, then the CSV files remain unchanged. I fiddled with file permissions, and path in the script but still no effect. Would it be okay if I sent you a detailed email including the .py file? If you are uncomfortable, I can send the script in plain text. —usernamekiran (talk) 01:28, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- courtesy ping to @Mz7 and JJMC89: as TNT seems to be on a wikibreak, and you are the only folks that I know who are well versed in pywikibot. —usernamekiran (talk) 01:35, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- You're welcome to send me an email, though the issue you describe could indeed be caused by quite a few things.. — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 16:54, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- nvm. I think I found the issue, more testing is needed. —usernamekiran (talk) 17:40, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

Tag request
Hey TNT! Would you mind creating a tag for the WP:AntiVandal script? It should link to that page and have the description Edits made using the [[Wikipedia:AntiVandal|]] script.
