Deletion discussion about Akhmed Yakoob

Hello This is Paul, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Akhmed Yakoob, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Akhmed Yakoob.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Vanderwaalforces}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Vanderwaalforces: Thanks for the heads up, but I created this as a redirect and didn't have any input into the article's content. I do hope you'll contact those who did. I've added my thoughts to the discussion anyway. This is Paul (talk) 19:19, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Ways to improve Thomas Kingston

Hello, This is Paul,

Thank you for creating Thomas Kingston.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

You need to show significant pieces on him as a topic in quality independent sources. If he is only notable for being Lady Gabriella Windsor's husband - including his sad death - then it could be redirected / merged to her WP:BLP. thanks.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hi @Aszx5000:, thanks for the heads up about this article. I created it as a redirect so didn't have any input into the article itself. I'm happy for you to redirect it back to Gabriella Windsor if you don't think he was notable enough. Cheers, This is Paul (talk) 23:17, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Hi again @Aszx5000:. I've redirected the page back to Lady Ella's article, because he's notable for being married to her, but failed WP:GNG and WP:BIO as a separate page. The events relating to him are discussed in her article. I hope this is ok. Cheers, This is Paul (talk) 19:25, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
That makes sense to me - thanks for that. Aszx5000 (talk) 19:35, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Help request

Hi, could someone help me with this. I have tried explaining Wikipedia's policy to the user, but they seem uninterested and want to engage in an edit war. They're obviously trying to make some point but it seems a bit of a trivial matter to report it as disruptive. It could do with someone else taking a look though. Thanks This is Paul (talk) 23:44, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

The edit summary of the diff you provided contains an invitation to discuss the matter on the talk page. Is there anything in particular that's standing in the way of that? 78.28.44.127 (talk) 00:30, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
The onus is on the ip to explain why the link should be changed, and to do so before changing it. There are hundreds of links to COVID-19, and to change them all in the way suggested would require a discussion and consensus. The place to have that discussion would be at WP:COVID. The invitation was added at the end of a long rambling edit summary, and was only added after the edit had twice been reverted. This is Paul (talk) 00:45, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
This looks to be a content dispute which is outside the scope of the Help Me tag, so I have deactivated it. If you have concerns about edit warring, I would suggest WP:AN3 - RichT|C|E-Mail 00:57, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
ok no worries, I think it is more an edit war issue as there seems to be a lot of reverting going on from that ip address. I don't want to go over the WP:3RR rule so I'll mention it at WP:AN3. Cheers, This is Paul (talk) 01:02, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
On closer examination it looks like I've only reverted this twice, so I'll do it once more. It's after 1am in the UK so if the edit is the revert is undone again I'll report it in the morning when I'm feeling a bit fresher. This is Paul (talk) 01:11, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
