Image tagging for Image:10px-Redshirt.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:10px-Redshirt.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:10px-Redshirt.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:10px-Redshirt.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:800px-Dpp.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:56, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image preview problem

edit

I've no idea why that happens, but it has to do with the 800px thumbnail preview not updating after the image has been changed. Sometimes when I update it it changes straight away, sometimes it takes a few refreshes, and sometimes it just seems to get stuck! In the latter case I go into the wikipage that it's used on and change the width by 5px, that seems to fix it... I don't think it has anything to do with the image size - that's probably because I'm using GIMP to edit and other people are using something else. Umeeksk (talk) 00:21, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alpha Superdelegates, nice addition but maybe too much?

edit

First, Tjliles, kudos on your hard work with this page. Super work! I've been plinking away trying to get it more or less up-to-date. Right now, the Obama delegates are pretty solid and there are probably 25-30 Clintons still to be accounted for. Also, I ran through and re-worked the edits that were over-written by your recent update. FYI.

Anyhoo -- I think your recent addition of the alpha list may be too much for this page. I LIKE the alpha list. I also like the by-group list. But having dualing formats on the same page seems too much. I'd almost rather go with all one or the other -- either all alpha or all by category. I see maintaining clean parallel lists to be a problem. IMHO.

Again, great getting this page up and running. Regards! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scantron2 (talkcontribs) 22:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tjliles -- a question...

edit

So - your plan is to roll over into the alpha list and ditch the other once the conversion is complete? That sounds good.

A question: will you want the names to be in "last, first" format so they'll sort properly? If so, I'd be happy to reformat those. Let me know.

Regards, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scantron2 (talkcontribs) 23:02, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

One last thing

edit

Thanks for the reply.

FYI - the sorting doesn't work out so well for me. I'm using firefox, though I don't think that should matter. Anyway, when I click on the sort buttons, it sorts the delegates by first name, not last. And if I re-sort (by name, by group, then by endorsement, for example) it preserves the prior sort. The result of this is that once I leave alpha I never can get back. Not a big deal, but I thought I'd mention it.

I noticed that there are about a dozen more delegates in the group list versus alpha. I'll track those down and insert them (using the current formatting this time!) and then clean up the colors.

Thanks again for all your help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scantron2 (talkcontribs) 23:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Status of the list

edit

Hey Tjliles,

I did a count and here's what I show for numbers:

Alpha list - Clinton 200 Obama 170 Uncommitted 387 Total 757

Group list - Clinton 202 Obama 172 Uncommitted 379 Total 753

This is a rough count. So - there are a few loose ends to clean up -- transferring over at least 2 Obama and Clinton citations plus doing a rough match to make sure we didn't drop any uncommitted delegates.

I just copied the current page to a standalone HTML file. If you want to drop section 3 out, I can finish the reconciliation tonight and won't need that history. I guess I'd be in favor of that doing that cut sooner rather than later, even though I won't be able to get to this until late PM (MDT).

Your call. Cheers!

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:800px-Dpp.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Undeath (talk) 02:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Gwatney.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. I don't use Wikinews- I don't know what their copyright policies are or how strictly they are enforced. I am seeing no evidence at all that that image is under a free license- the website you've taken it from has a clear copyright notice stating that all rights are reserved. Why do you believe the image is free? J Milburn (talk) 23:39, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not at all the way it works- consensus and practice vary massively between projects, not to mention the fact that even if it's their on Wikinews, doesn't mean it is allowed. However, that's irrelevant- here, evidence is required that images are under a free license. If you cannot provide the evidence, the image will be deleted.
