Welcome to Wikipedia!

edit

Hello Tmorrisey, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 08:49, 16 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

My roommate has this really annoying habit of playing loud, shitty emo/screamo music. I can drown it out easily enough with my headphones cranked up (Thanks Valentine, if you ever read this I blame you for eventual hearing loss down the road, bitch.) But then he starts playing along with the drum part with his index fingers on his desk and this loud annoying tapping is impossible to drown out and extremely nervewracking. Should I kill him? Or should I start drumming along with the drum parts of my music until he gets the hint?

Hmm. I'll try to think up some crazy plan for you.

Civility

edit

Your comments here regarding "whiny, power-hungry deletionists" was uncivil. Please remember that the functioning of Wikipedia is dependant in a large part on polite and respectful interactions among editors. Thank you. - brenneman {L} 01:24, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

AfD de_chateau

edit

Just wanted to let you know that one of our CS maps is up for deletion. I'm not sure why they're picking on this one, but here's the link Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/De_chateau David Bergan 16:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for adding your input to the AfD page... so far it looks like an overwhelming keep, and we can head off future AfDs just by refering to the this one. I plan to "pretty up" the map pages so that they have a decent amount of content and some screenshots... but tonight I'm heading out of town for a week. Hopefully all my hard work will still be here when I get back. You're a good guy. David Bergan 23:52, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Another AfD on the CS Maps

edit

Thanks for your input on the last one, this is getting sickening, but the vote is against us right now. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Counter-Strike_maps David Bergan 21:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Mr. Morrisey! I read your opinions on deletionism and fancruft on Varco's Userpage; I couldn't agree more. Just wanna give an inclusionist fist-bump to another OP homeboy. Keep it cool, keep it krufty. -Mr. Sasiadek --Cjs56 20:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Louies logo.GIF

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Louies logo.GIF. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Accadia

edit

Hi Tom. Thanks, glad to see my recent assault on Italian towns has not gone unnoticed.;-/ Fair enough to pull me up on the lack of referencing - the stuff in the infobox is just transcribed from the it.wiki article on Accadia, which means that most of it will have come from the Italian national statistics agency ISTAT in one form or another. In fact the Italian article is in pretty good shape, it's even fairly well referenced (which tends to be even more of a problem on it.wiki than here). You might want to make it a bit of a personal project to get the English article up to a similar standard, perhaps even some of the surrounding towns as well - to be honest I'm a bit surprised that the Italian town articles aren't in better shape, given the number of people on en.wiki like yourself who must have a personal interest in them. Your upload of File:Akram Zaki Headshot.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
