Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
below this message box. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Request reason:
I am neither Toby Hull or even Emu. If necessary, I am happy not to make edits to that article, as there are many other British television/music articles that I would like to edit instead
Decline reason:
Per WP:REALNAME, see explanation below. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:54, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Might I note that the username comes a little close to User:Rodhullandemu. If you are unblocked, your username might still be examined by administrators. mechamind90 01:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed an account by that name editing the Rod Hull article, which inspired my username. It is odd that account can seemingly edit the Rod Hull article freely while I am blocked without warning for starting Toby Hull one. I had an account long ago and don't remember WP being like this. I am not the actual Toby, just as the other account cannot be the actual Rod. Tobyhullandemu (talk) 07:17, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Toby! What was the name of your earlier account? Is there a reason you can't use that one? In general, we don't use more than one Wikipedia account, just to avoid confusion- I'm still using the same account I created when I first became interested in Wikipedia. We normally try to avoid usernames that would easily be confused with other users, and believe it or not, it isn't uncommon for users who are angry at someone on Wikipedia to create an account that intentionally mimicks the name of the person they're mad at- I myself have inspired lots of those, including my personal favorite, User:FisherQueer. I think that's the reason that you are experiencing some hesitation from reviewing admins, although your contibutions don't indicate that you're one of those naughty people. I've left a note for User:Rodhullandemu, asking whether he objects to another user having a username so close to his. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:30, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, I can't remember my old password and stuff! It was a while back. If Rodhullandemu objects I can get a new account, but really, it's totally different and shouldn't confuse anyone except a moron in a hurry. I guess I might reregister anyway. I would like to thank the person that fixed the citations on Toby Hull - nice! ~ Tobyhullandemu
- Hello. It's a bit more complicated than has been mentioned so far. We can't unblock this username, unless it's to request a rename, in order to prevent confusion with and impersonation of the real Toby Hull (see WP:REALNAME). I'm sorry but however clear you make it that you are not the Toby Hull, this name will not be acceptable due to its unique association with that individual. Rod can get away with it, because everyone knows that Rod is no longer with us. Once you've decided on a new name, in line with the username policy, just use the unblock template mentioned above. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:54, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
