Writing about yourself here = bad idea
editPlease do not write an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged - see our guideline Writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 12:22, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
The article Orchestra JB has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Cannot find enough coverage in reliable sources to justify inclusion
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. doomgaze (talk) 13:50, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I was not writing about myself perse.....merely including my involement and contribution to the success of Come Alive......The article itself was primarily about Jimmy Brown and Orchestra JB which is no relation to me whatsoever. Come Alive was noted for being unique in the dance market and featured in BillBoard magazine, and got constant airplay on national radio all over the world...I still recieve royalties on it today.
It was based on fact and truth and others also contributed to the article, so I am very surprised by peoples attitudes towards this, as it was noteworthy. i now seem to be deleted everywhere on wiki. Andrew Gold (late musician) was married to my sister so I have a connection there too. My own band had rave reviews in Melody Maker, Sounds etc.....REM requested we supported them on tour in the 80's. So how is the article not noteworthy.
Orchestra JB
editHi Torro, thanks for the email. The reason I have proposed the article for deletion is because I cannot find any reliable sources to support what is written there - all information on Wikipedia has to be verifiable in order to prevent inaccuracies. Also, I'm not sure that the subject is notable enough for inclusion; you can find our criteria for having articles about musicians at WP:MUSICBIO and as far as I can see Orchestra JB does not fulfil the requirements. I may be wrong, however, so if you disagree then you can remove the PROD tag in the edit window and we can take the article to WP:AFD, where other editors can discuss the article a bit more. Also, since (I am presuming) you are related in some way to one of the two Mr Browns, it might be worth reading over the Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest pages. Cheers, doomgaze (talk) 14:25, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Orchestra JB
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Orchestra JB, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}

Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Well, I'm trying to be helpful, at least. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia of Verifiability and Notability, so adding stuff you just happen to know, or about people you happen to know, isn't good enough without justification. Learn the rules and guidelines here, just as you would when joining any club or online forum and you might start getting somewhere. So, I've given you several links now as to why your additions are being reverted or deleted, and when you've read them you may understand more. Cheers, Stephenb (Talk) 09:45, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

I don't think anyone has been helpful here! I am not a computer geek and don't understand most of what goes on here...all I was doing was adding an article of interest which other people had added to as well.
It seems there are too many on here that want to be judge, jury and executioner, and who can#t be bothered to research the subject as it does not appeal to them.
I am as note worthy as other Billy Brown's on here...some whom have no more notability in their lives than others. I can at least say that I have achieved something in music. I have been written about many times and thanked personally for my writing.
Orchestra JB was noted by many as unique and a breakthrough in dance music at that time.
it seems funny how all in one day, a few people decide that an article is suddenly no good any more, when it was up for a good amount of time without any problems with others contributing to the article.
I will continue to put the article up no matter how many times it gets deleted as my opinion (and others) is as valuable as yours!!!

A tag has been placed on Orchestra jb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}

- Please note: It's not necessarily other people's job to ensure that an article is up-to-scratch and includes citations. If you want the article, you may need to do some work yourself! Adding articles whinging that other people haven't done their research, while not including any of your own, doesn't go down well. Try looking at the Wikipedia:Article wizard and following the guidelines. Stephenb (Talk) 09:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
The article was not a whinging one at all ....not have I whinged.....do a search yourself......I'll save you the time here http://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=681&source=hp&q=orchestra+jb&aq=f&aqi=g2g-v3&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=a13c5ef4288ebfee

A tag has been placed on Orchestra jb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
