List of current UFC fighters

edit

In response to your "same surname as nickname" edit, this is actually kind of a complicated occurance that comes about because fighters are listed by their UFC roster name, which occasionally lists fighters by their nicknames. In the case of Gleison Tibau, Tibau is his UFC listed name, but it is not his name by birth, it is a nickname. I have listed it as such to show that it is a nickname, and will leave it as such for the few fighters for whom it is appropriate.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 06:15, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Luiz.Cane.Fan.Photo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Luiz.Cane.Fan.Photo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:52, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Exercise in futility

edit

Since you do not respond to any messages on your talkpage, whether in actions or directly in the form of an answer, I do not know why I am even putting forth this effort:

Your edits to Ford Fiesta are less than helpful. If you prefer "bhp" to "hp" then fine; but deleting all of the   is highly destructive. The nbsp shows up as a space, but ensures that there is no linebreak between "1.6" and "L" (for instance). Your deletion of all of the no break spaces is a massive headache, and I saw it too late to simply undo your edits. I just visited Wikipedia, and it was highlighted that I have a message. So I'm replying. I'm not sure how I've done anything less than required/practical. For 20 years or so, I've spent WAY too long online. Yet Wikipedia follows completely different (clunky) ways to do simple things such as PM'ing. I've spent half of my life helping others, and that's all I ever want to do. I'm extremely selfless, much to my own cost (in every way). I'm not rude either. I'd never ignore a contact, even one from a complete stranger.
My edits to the Ford Fiesta page took several HOURS of painstaking checking & rechecking. I politely request you learn the difference between BHP and HP. Not one of my edits were based on preference. To do so would be moronic & selfish. I cleaned the page the one uniform & correct set of terms.
The NSBP thing is completely my error. I thought it was a coding problem, as I've seen many sites suffer when edited from many different character sets etc. I thought that's what it was, since it was in random places (or, at-least, so it seemed). Sorry for that mistake. (Torydude on Mr.choppers Commons talkpage)
First of all, I reposted your message from my Commons talkpage here so as to make the conversation legible. When someone makes a large and well-meant edit such as yours (clearly not vandalism), I usually will just repair the parts that do not work. Yours was just a little too big and confusing, and I also saw that you had never before responded to any messages on your talkpage, which made me somewhat less considerate. Your reversal of all the NBSP's made a big mess, and I chose to undo your entire edit instead of trying to cherrypick the parts which were actually useful. As far as HP vs BHP, Wikipedia (in spite of my preferences, and apparently yours as well) considers them as equals. Wikipedia editors have at some point decided that metric horsepowers are labelled PS, while HP and BHP are seen as synonyms for 746W. This decision (one that I do not personally agree with, but cooperate with nonetheless) means that another large chunk of your edit was made pointless. Additionally your edit was followed by a series of other edits, making it very hard for me to untangle which parts of your work were useful, which ones were neutral, and which ones were actually destructive. In any case, my aim in posting on your talkpage was to explain my actions instead of just running roughshod over you. Best,  ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃  (talk) 11:05, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
