Speedy deletion nomination of Shafer Auto
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Shafer Auto requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:36, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
Regarding your article
editI saw your comment contesting the speedy deletion of the article Shafer Auto. I'm replying here in case the page is deleted before you get a chance to read the message. First of all, if you are doing this for a friend whose grandfather founded the company, that represents a conflict of interest that you must declare. Additionally, just getting information from a friend of yours is not enough. An article needs to have references to published reliable sources that are independent of its subject. If you want to work on the page bit by bit, it is recommended to start it as a draft and submit it through the Article for Creation process when it is ready for mainspace. This is a good way to get feedback on changes that need to be made for a page to be suitable as an article. That being said, if your only source of information is a friend with close ties to the company, then it likely doesn't meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies and organizations. Thank you. TornadoLGS (talk) 02:00, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
How to draft. Please tell. 1st talk. Do I do this? Tyshkovsky (talk) 22:23, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, you'll want to start the page as a draft by placing "Draft:" in front of the intended name of the article. There is more information about drafts at this link. I also suggest reading Help:Your first article and the notability guidelines for companies and organizations, since the business might not be notable. As a caution, since you intend to write about a company, the article cannot be an advertisement and should not come across as one, or it will be eligible for speedy deletion under criterion G11. You can also ask for advice at the Teahouse. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:10, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Thanks. Tyshkovsky (talk) 02:52, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
