I'd be happy to help. Is there anything specific that needs attention? GhostPirate 04:17, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the suggestions. Whenever I have some free time, I'll crack open my copy of All the President's Men and see if I can add some more citations. The articles you linked to do need work, and I'll be glad to help organize and improve them. GhostPirate 05:27, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism notice

edit

I noticed the warning you gave me on my talk page. It was all a misunderstanding. I reverted my own edits, so it has been taken care of.

I do, however, ask you to assume good faith, not only with me, but on wikipedia in general. The message you gave me was a level 3 notice, which assumes bad faith. A level 1 or 2 warning would have been more suitable. J-stan Talk 16:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Funny, another coincidence: I was about to reply to your message when, at the exact same time, you added to my page. So anyway, I have no objections to your removing your notice from my page. Thanks! J-stan Talk 16:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you just accidentally reverted the vandalism, and I accidentally tagged you as the vandal. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I do think my level three warning was probably justified based on the content and scope of the vandalism, but it's easy to forget to assume good faith when specifically patrolling for vandalism. I will do my best to keep that thought in mind. All the best.. Ukulele 20:29, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Theatrix-cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Theatrix-cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pekaje 20:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, thanks for the catch. I went back and added the fair-use rationale for that image and a few others I had forgotten about. Ukulele 20:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use image problems

edit

I notice you have uploaded the image Image:Dresden files rpg.jpg with the {{current tag name}} fair use image tag. However, this tag seems unrelated to the content of the image, and as a result it may qualify for speedy deletion. Image:Dresden files rpg.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why Image:Dresden files rpg.jpg can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the {{Non-free web screenshot}} tag that you have placed on it with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it. However, you must not remove the speedy deletion notice. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Gavin Collins 13:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The request to delete this image was declined by admin, RockMFR and a message was placed on the nominator's talk page directing him to Wikipedia's policy about Fair-use. - Ukulele 21:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dresden Files

edit

No problem Uke. I watch the AFD's and try to be as fair as possible on the material. Even though it looks like I vote Delete to a lot of things, I always to try to offer alternative viewpoints on policy that might help an article that fits in the gray area. I've seen Gavin's RFD and read through most of the points. I decided to stay out of it either way so that I could discuss articles in AFD without finger-pointing on either side of the debate. I noticed that happening a lot. The side that agrees with Gavin will say that arguments are attacks on Gavin and vice versa. So I felt it's best to not get involved and just do my best with the work in front me at any given time. (If reviewing deletions on wikipedia is to be considered work at all)

I'm sorry the article was redirected, but I'm glad the closing admin noted the AFD with text about a future rebuild.

I did recently get an email from someone building a new wiki called "fancruft" that might be interesting. It's the Illusion On-Demand people. They contacted me about the project because they saw that I wrote their wikipedia entry. They said that they were noticing a lot of AFDs from RPG, Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres and asked if I thought it might be a good idea to have a "safe" wiki for articles that are failing the wikipedia notability guidelines. They asked me if I had ever edited on Scifipedia and I told them I hadn't because they don't use a GNU license and I've been told they have a degree of central editorial oversight. These guys seem very cool and if you're interested in helping them out by copying some articles over, I'm sure they'd be glad start bringing on editors. If you're interested you can email them at info@illusiontv.com

I think I'll start working on some things for them soon.--Torchwood Who? 00:33, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dresden files rpg.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dresden files rpg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:23, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Clay duke

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Clay duke, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://trendsbuzz.com/about/clay+duke.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of Clay duke

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Clay duke requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
