I just said I'd drop by and leave a note - for the most part, the label "conservative" isn't WP:DUE for inclusion in the opening sentence of an article about a politician. Most political labels aren't, apart from exceptions where the reason they're notable is for holding those positions, like the Marjorie Taylor Greene article you mentioned. With the articles you added "conservative" to, none of Michels/Lake/Vance/Dixon/Johnson have received high enough levels of coverage specifically for their conservative views to include it in the opening of the article. Good attempt at compromise

Hi, Ulis255, I wanted to commend you for your attempt at compromise in this edit at Drag queen, after some edit-warring by another editor inserted unsupported opinion into the article for a second time. Good job; trying to find compromise wording is in the best tradition of Wikipedia. I'm about to roll the article back to an earlier, stable version before the edit warring started, and this will remove your improvement as well, and I just wanted to explain about this. This article has been around for 20 years, has had 1,500 editors participating, and the stable lead was hammered out in discussions by numerous editors on the Talk page of the article. In addition, this article is in the controversial topic area of gender-related controversies. For these reasons, I feel that it is best to discuss any changes to the lead at the Talk page, and come to an agreement there before changing the lead.

Just to be completely clear: I actually thought your change to the lead was an improvement, and in discussions at Talk, I may well support something like the version you added. But it should be discussed there, first. I hope you join the discussions there, I'll be interested in your thoughts. Thanks, and once again, welcome to Wikipedia! Drag queen

I've reverted your latest change to the lead at Drag queen, for the reasons stated in the edit summary, and at the talk page. Your initial instinct to go to the Talk page with your concerns was the correct one, but just because you don't get a response within a week this time, isn't necessarily a green light to go ahead when a previous attempt was already reverted once before. You really need to get consensus now, before trying to insert your change a thrid time. I've gone into greater detail about this at the Talk page, but I'd just say that editing an article on a gender-related topic is difficult for any editor, and very difficult for a new editor. Editing the WP:LEAD of the article, is even more difficult, and editing any article under ArbCom discretionary sanctions brings an additional level of risk. I'd recommend you try switching your attention to a topic which is not so fraught with mines and potential difficulties, where you could hone your skills as a Wikipedia editor, before trying something so difficult. But that's just a bit of friendly advice from another editor, and you're free to continue to attempt to edit that article, if that's your preference.
