Proposed deletion of Mohammed Jibrin

edit

The article Mohammed Jibrin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnotable person

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Urban. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://nscia.com.ng/, https://nscia.com.ng/service/history/, and https://nscia.com.ng/service/objectives/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Request reason:

Good day, Am not sure of the reason why I was blocked. I wasn't using two accounts on my phone, and the only activities from 27 September 2023 that I know, are trying to teach one of my students how to create a Wikipedia account and also edit on Wikipedia. So we edited the same page at very short time intervals. Also, the student used my mobile phone's hotspot to connect to the internet because she was having a network challenge. These could be the reasons I think might have made my actions look illegal. Am sorry for violating the rules but it wasn't intentional. Here is the link to a program am facilitating for reference purposes https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_SDGs_Campus_Tour_2.0,_Northern_Nigeria Thanks for the understanding. Umar2z (talk) 08:10, 30 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

You emailed me--but why didn't you just ping me here? Drmies (talk) 15:23, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Your entire range is swamped with likely socks and certainly paid editors--it comes with the territory. I don't know who your "student" is and I'm not going to check that entire range again (three ranges, actually), and frankly that whole story is a bit odd: if you can tell me specifically which other account, and which page, that might help. But in the end there's also edits like this, in Draft:ASO Savings & Loans, PLC: "The mission of ASO Savings & Loans, PLC is to build mutually profitable relationships anchored on a passion for excellence"--I don't even know if I should assume that you know now how incredibly inappropriate such edits are. As far as I can see, you created Mohammed Jibrin and then the article on the bank he helped run; they were promotional articles, and I suspect WP:UPE.
So, before anything moves here, explain the student/article by pointing at diffs, and talk about Jibrin and his bank. Drmies (talk) 15:39, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Listen--I asked you earlier, "So we edited the same page at very short time intervals"--what page? Can you answer that? Drmies (talk) 21:57, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

OK--here is what I am going to do. I am going to unblock you. BUT: you need to know what no other administrator came here because none of the ones who read my notification seemed to think that there was any benefit to the project in unblocking you. That's a serious concern, and what I think it means for you is that when you get back to editing, you need to do two things. First of all, avoid ANY semblance of paid editing, or editing when you have a conflict of interest. So edit neutrally. That means that even this kind of edit should be avoided, since listing the departments and colleges, without verification, might seem like a promotional edit. Second, clean it up. English is not your first language (it isn't mine either), and I see some problems with punctuation and syntax. That's fine--but be careful with word choice, because for L2 writers it may be more difficult to determine if a word is neutral or not. When in doubt, don't make the edit, or first look and see how words and phrases are used elsewhere (in good articles--not bad ones). OK? Good luck. Drmies (talk) 21:56, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Drmiesthanks for the time and consideration. I assure you that I will do my best to improve. Thanks for believing in me Umar2z (talk) 22:10, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Categorisation

edit

Hi and thanks for adding categories to articles. Unfortunately some of the categories you are adding are too broad rather than specific. For example at Miralem Pjanić you added Category:Muslims but the article already had the category Category:Bosnia and Herzegovina Muslims. Others are inappropriate such as adding Category:Nigerian people to an article about the city of Jos. AusLondonder (talk) 14:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please take at look at Wikipedia:Categorisation for more information, especially WP:CATDEF and WP:PARENTCAT. Thanks. AusLondonder (talk) 14:51, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
