Welcome!

edit

Hello, Uptopclickllc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello Uptopclickllc. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Skerrit Bwoy, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Uptopclickllc. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Uptopclickllc|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Star Mississippi 17:00, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

My firm does consult for Skerrit Bwoy. We handle his marketing. While reviewing his page I noticed that you guys requested more information, so I created this page specifically for the purpose of helping you guys with the more info you requested. If I did something wrong, I would most certainly correct any thing I did wrong. I am not too familiar with Wiki. My apologies. If you would like me to remove my additions and citations, I will. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Star Mississippi 17:02, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Your It appears that my girlfriend who has the "WizGirl" account was unaware that I created this account and that caused confusion and you have blocked my page. if this can't be rectified, I will accept your decision, but I do find the process for editing very confusing and not inclusive at all. The editors have been quick to pass judgment of wrongdoing and do not take into the account that inexperience people will make mistakes. I find this very un-fair. I have no problem with you deleting my account but she shouldn't be punished.

Decline reason:

Accounts cannot be deleted; they can of course just be abandoned. You have not proposed a new username. I am declining this request. PhilKnight (talk) 20:36, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • You're blocked because you're using your company name (WP:NAMEGUIDE), which could be remedied with a new username. But unlikely to be unblocked to continue to edit about your clients since several of us have raised concerns about your clients' notability. Your girlfriend claims no connection to your account so we'll see what the SPI decides. I am not unblocking at this stage Star Mississippi 19:32, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes I didn't tell her i was doing this smh ugff I really goofed here. I'm getting the riot act now. I would happily just delete my account completely and never mess with this again lol. Uptopclickllc (talk) 19:37, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would, request a new username if that will help, I'm not sure how to do so however. Uptopclickllc (talk) 20:44, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.
Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public. You may instead email the Arbitration Committee at arbcom-en wikimedia.org with your username and appeal.

Administrators: CheckUsers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. Therefore, a Checkuser must be consulted before this block can be removed. Administrators undoing checkuser blocks without permission or the prior approval from a checkuser risk having their administrator rights removed by the Arbitration Committee (per this announcement).

Appeal Block

Hello I would like guidance on how to regain the ability to edit and create pages. Uptopclickllc (talk) 17:30, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

WP:GAB explains how to contest your block. You will also want to read the block message above and, I'm afraid, the attempt to mislead from Wizgirl1470 over at User talk:Wizgirl1470 which was pretty much the nail in the coffin here. Frankly, it will be hard for you to get unblocked. --Yamla (talk) 17:36, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yea I remember the issue. It wasn't really trying to mislead it was ignorance to the process. However is there any pathway? a life time ban seem draconian. Uptopclickllc (talk) 18:43, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I disagree that it was ignorance of the process. But you aren't trying to convince me. --Yamla (talk) 19:28, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Not at all. My main concern if there is a rehabilitation process that I can participate in Uptopclickllc (talk) 19:44, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
The general expectation is that you have refrained from all edits (via this account, via any other account, while not logged in to an account) for at least six months. In this case, you'd need to convince us you understand WP:USERNAME (by picking a new username), WP:COI and WP:PROMO (by explaining what was wrong with your edits and how you'd avoid writing about clients or customers or your own business in the future), and tell us what you plan to write about instead. You'd also need to address the problems with WP:SOCK. There's no rehabilitation process to speak of. It's not like anyone believes you could never be a constructive editor. You just need to demonstrate you understand what you did wrong, convince us you understand Wikipedia's policies, and convince us your future edits would be significantly different. --Yamla (talk) 19:47, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay so do I approach both task at the same time? 1) picking a new name and then 2) Explain what I did wrong. I understand why sockpuppetting is an issue this was not my intention at the time. In the future I have no intention of fully writing articles for my clients as it is obvious in doing so it may come accross wrong. I simply want the ability to make minor edits to their pages in future, updates to releases and so fourth. I am frankly to nervous to do anything else. Uptopclickllc (talk) 19:54, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
You should refrain from even minor edits to your clients' pages. You can make an unblock request stating what username you want and explaining what you did wrong and what you'd do differently. WP:GAB explains how. --Yamla (talk) 19:59, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay its understood Uptopclickllc (talk) 20:01, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Where would i go to appeal? I did request a name change. Uptopclickllc (talk) 20:02, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
You appeal here. WP:GAB explains how. You'll want to note that you already requested a username change (and indicate what you requested it be changed to). --Yamla (talk) 20:03, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Uptopclickllc (talk) 20:13, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Please note that I have already requested a name change. First of all I want to say I am sorry for violating the rules of paid contributions last year and sockpuppeting. I contend that it was inadvertent on my part. I should not have attempted to edit from my account while my girlfriend was working on the same pages. In addition after researching a bit more on how wiki works I do not intend on creating any pages for my clients. Prior this incident I would make corrections to grammar or spelling errors I would notice while reading articles. That is my intention now. I also would like to join the community again to network with other contributors and learn more about the proper way to utilize the platform so I can guide others on how not to make the mistakes that I made. I am willing to follow any steps necessary for reinstatement. Uptopclickllc (talk) 20:29, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This request might have worked before the sockpuppetry, but now as previously advised you will need to wait six months without editing Wikipedia before requesting unblock, to help rebuild trust by demonstrating that you can refrain from sock puppetry. 331dot (talk) 09:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have not been editing in over 6 months. But if my account is blocked from any edits how can I prove to be a good citizen with my account blocked and my name change not approved? I am really looking for a clear pathway here. Uptopclickllc (talk) 15:14, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
