Roger Toll

I found a source for the Roger Toll story so it's not your basic attack page. Please note, that you don't need to add extra categories when tagging them. Articles with deletion tags are automatically categorized. - Mgm|^(talk) 13:07, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/DrugChart

Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/DrugChart was submitted as a diagram including the links (as stated in the submission). Of course it is meaningless without them. --Thoric 03:57, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Looking at your recent vote on Single-phase transformer, I find your opposition to the drug chart a tad unfair in comparison. I would say that the Single-phase transformer diagram is less stunning, and less meaningful without the article. --Thoric 01:27, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

I know Thoric has spoken to you about this already, but I've been trying to decide whether to promote it or not for a few days now. You were opposed partially because the image was meaningless without the overlaid text. Have you seen Image:Drugchart.png? Hi. "Port 80" is a newcomer's first and only contribution and it's not self-serving vanity. In the future, please be kind and not use words like "unencyclopedic", "a lot of nonsense", "I don't think this page should exist on wikipedia." FSF Screenshot Template

First, forward the email you received to permissions at wikimedia dot org for recordkeeping. There are instructions for creating a template at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Creating new tags or sub-category. You could call the template {{FSF-screenshot}}. It should say something like "The FSF will permit the use of "screenshots without restrictions" of programs they own the copyright of. This does not include all programs licensed under the GPL or LGPL." I would ask on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags before creating the template. If no one objects, you can create it and list it on WP:ICT. It should be listed under Any purpose copyright, but probably not in GNU licenses. Superm401 | Talk 21:23, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:13, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue I - March 2006
Project news An independent military history peer review has been created for the benefit of the project. A number of articles have already been reviewed, receiving significantly more feedback within the project than they did on the generic peer review page. The project's Collaboration of the Fortnight got off to a great start with Ferdinand Foch and is now focusing on the military history of Spain. Two new task forces—dealing with warfare during classical antiquity and the Middle Ages—have been created. An effort to build a catalogue of high-quality maps for use in military history articles is now underway. The newly-formed translation department is looking for volunteers to help with translating featured articles from other-language Wikipedias.	From the Coordinators Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in. Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. Current proposals Proposed guidelines for categories of military people are currently being discussed. A number of issues have already been resolved, but the proposed scheme is still in draft form and further input would be very welcome.

Reply to "Your UNIX-category image" on Commons

It took me a few minutes to figure out what image you meant, but I finally figured it out. ;) Now, about the GPL comment- here is why I do that. In Section 3, Part A of the GPL 2.0, it is stated:

Accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable source code

I realise this requirement is met in itself, but some older text editors refuse to edit SVGs. Thus, I inlcude the source just in case. I will edit the page to no longer include the "must include" part. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. ~Linuxerist E/L/T 02:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, i guess I will remove it. When I first tried to make SVGs in Inkscape, I thought of SVG as a type of graphic that could be scaled, and nothing more! ~Linuxerist E/L/T 10:35, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I am still getting used to Inkscape myself, as I have been using The GIMP for about 8 years, though just horrible drawing at first. I have mainly gained SVG knowledge merely by expirementing. I once had a weird idea to open up an SVG in pico, and sure enough saw it was an XML file. ~Linuxerist E/L/T 11:03, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Oh sure. ;) I guess I should have noted I recently switched to emacs, so don't get me wrong there. I hadn't realised about xpm's before, though I guess it makes since. shortcut

I removed the shortcut because none of the other portals have shortcuts listed at the top. When navigating from portal to portal, only the technology portal's content is shifted down because of the shortcut box at the top; shortcut boxes are more appropriate for project space than content pages like portals and articles.--ragesoss 19:18, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism?

This was a simple mistake from my side. I checked an article I watch (pH) and found the image Image:Sarahvulva.jpg in that article. I checked other articles edited by the same IP, and looked for the image in them It was in the Sarah McLachlan aritcle. However, I must've waited until some other fellow had removed the image, and then pressed edit, and removed the first image line I saw. Sorry for not checking better, but it was not intentional harm.
