Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:US 191Y

edit

A tag has been placed on Draft:US 191Y requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Hi @WWWHHHHYYYYYY. You need to make a special kind of page called a Redirect Page, not an Article Draft which you have done here. See instructions on how to make a Redirect Page on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_make_a_redirect

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi @WWWHHHHYYYYYY. Thanks for your recent Draft:US 191Y. You need to make a special kind of page called a Redirect Page, not an Article Draft which you have done here.

See instructions on how to make a Redirect Page on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_make_a_redirect.

Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 13:16, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I attempted to use the redirect creation page mentioned before I created that draft page, and every time I did, it directed me to make a draft. Is this because this account is new? WWWHHHHYYYYYY (talk) 13:19, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You're correct. Since your account isn't autoconfirmed, you can't yet create any pages in mainspace, so that's why you were prompted to create a draft. You'll be autoconfirmed after your account has existed for 4 days and you have 10 edits, though, so that should come fairly soon. For now, I've created the redirect at US 191Y. If you want to create any other redirects before you're autoconfirmed, you can request them through WP:AFC/R. Welcome to Wikipedia! PlanetJuice (talkcontribs) 14:09, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
OH, okay. I see the page says that now. Leave it to me to not notice stuff. Thanks. WWWHHHHYYYYYY (talk) 14:39, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mark Robinson

edit

Hello "WHY", welcome to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've taken an interest in editing the article at Mark Robinson (American politician). While I know you've tried to be as neutral and factual as possible, I've removed some of the material you added because I did not believe it conformed with our policy on synthesizing source material, which you can read at WP:SYNTH. Also keep in mind that the reliability of Salon and Jezebel is contested on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources), and for an oft-contested article on a person who is at the center of American culture war debates, it might be better to avoid these altogether. The New Republic has a somewhat better standing here, and local/Triad news has also covered the event Robinson was involved in (with good detail), so I think it would be better for you to stick to those sources. Happy editing. -Indy beetle (talk) 08:58, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I see. Thank you for letting me know. WWWHHHHYYYYYY (talk) 13:42, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

  Hi WWWHHHHYYYYYY! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at 2020 Sparta earthquake that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
