Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! General sanctions relating to Covid

edit
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has enacted a more stringent set of rules. Any administrator may impose sanctions – such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks – on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Woke

edit

I removed a number of the see alsos you added as inappropriate. You could try justifying them on the talk page. Doug Weller talk 12:31, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure this is the correct talk page. Sorry, I am a beginner. I'm not sure what the standards are for adding things to the see also. I thought some of the social science articles I added had interesting parallels to this lexical one, they were talking about similar phenomena with different kinds of language! Is this enough to merit their inclusion? I don't know!

At the top of an article there should be the word talk that you can click. I though panic, etc simply don’t apply. MOS:ALSO is relevant but it can be subjective. See WP:SIGN to learn how to sign your posts. Doug Weller talk 18:17, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Eh, this is too hard. I'll continue my low level contributions without trying to step into the big leagues of the talk page and controversial articles like this again. Thanks for everything you do for this encyclopedia! Werner Zagrebbi (talk) 18:27, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, and thank you for contributing and being so polite! Doug Weller talk 18:42, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

June 2022

Hello, I'm Doug Weller. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Alfredo Stroessner ‎, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The text you changed was backed by the source, yours was not. We follow the source, not interpret it. Doug Weller talk 12:36, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the info, I'm really a beginner. I thought the "state of siege" wording was unusual, and I substituted for a more common near-synonym. I didn't intend to change the semantics of the article. I'm not sure what the rules are for what names to call things, (its probably just about what is in the sources isn't it, and I didn't look at those!) but I do think the change makes the article read a little more easily. Werner Zagrebbi (talk) 17:58, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Werner Zagrebbi it might, but we have to follow the source. Doug Weller talk 18:12, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Stuart J. Ritchie

edit

Hi @Werner Zagrebbi, thanks for adding an image to the Stuart J. Ritchie page. I would like to encourage you, however, to familiarize yourself with proper image placement protocol on Wikipedia, especially when a page has an infobox with an image parameter specifically for this purpose. You have been an editor on Wikipedia since 2020, and this is quite basic knowledge. It is rather sloppy to simply dump an image on a page without taking the time to do so in the proper manner, and it creates unnecessary work for other editors. Cheers!
