- Why do the current sources not count as reliable and secondary? Among them are: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (considered by Wikipedia “among the top academic institutions in the world”), NPR member station KQED-FM, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Reneé Ritchie from iMore (considered by Wikipedia “one of the 15 most important Apple analysts and writers”), and Figma (a multi-billion-dollar-valued company) just to name a few. Wikimga (talk) 21:35, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- The sources are reliable and secondary however they don't show that the subject qualifies for a WP article. For example the Figma article is about 3 people - it's not a profile of Khoe herself. MurielMary (talk) 00:30, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- I don't understand. This person is one of the inventors of augmented-reality face filters. Anyone who has taken a selfie with computer-generated overlays on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok or similar applications has been using a derivative of this invention. Would you agree that Snapchat, TikTok, or Instagram are noteworthy creations? Would you agree that millions (if not billions) of augmented-reality face images have been created? This is only giving one example of the contributions to computer science (and society in general) this person has made. Wikimga (talk) 03:52, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the person might be very notable and very significant, but the criteria for having a biography on Wikipedia include how thoroughly the secondary sources cover the subject. To show notability there need to be articles written solely about the subject - not about the subject in passing, or as one of a group of people. There is a similar comment from another reviewer (S0091) on the draft from November 2021, stating that more significant coverage is needed. MurielMary (talk) 11:15, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- you probably didn't read this then: https://capd.mit.edu/people/may-li-khoe/ Wikimga (talk) 16:29, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I read that. It is a profile written by an institution which employs her, therefore although it is of interest, it's not an objective secondary source. It's very common for academics to have profiles like this on their institution's website. You need to find significant coverage of the subject in independent, reliable sources e.g. an interview with her or a profile of her in an independent and reliable source. MurielMary (talk) 10:27, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- like an interview in Rene Ritchie's podcast? https://www.imore.com/how-design-and-operations-really-work-apple Wikimga (talk) 23:18, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- No, a podcast is not a reliable source. I suggest you read the guidelines on reliable sources and what qualifies as one and ask at The Teahouse if you have any further questions. All the best with your wiki editing. MurielMary (talk) 01:33, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: May-Li Khoe (July 7)
editI'm sorry, but the sourcing here helps the subject meet our general notability guidelines nor WP:NARTIST. I see a few interviews, which can only be used in *very* limited ways in Wikipedia articles because they are primary sources, other primary sources (i.e. patent documents don’t do anything for notability), or non-notable publications or passing mentions.
We need *significant* coverage in notable media outlets or by notable publishers. Examples: magazine and newspaper reviews and features about May-Li Khoe specifically; books or white papers written ABOUTMay-Li Khoe; television and radio features ABOUT May-Li Khoe. You can find other guidelines at WP:NBIO and also take a look at WP:NARTIST. If her work is held in major collections at museums, that could count towards notability.
If those are available, please improve this submission. If not, then it appears to be WP:TOOSOON for May-Li Khoe to have a Wikipedia article.
I hope you will consider improving existing Wikipedia content about other subjects of interest!
If you have any questions please ask them at WP:TEAHOUSE.
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia!
