Hi
editHi. I noticed you created a couple of category pages the other day, Category:Songs Written By The Miracles members and Category:Songs written by The Miracles members. The second category, which is formatted more properly, is the one with all the articles in it, so as part of some cleanup, I'm removing the other one. There is some content there: a list of songs, which you might find useful, so I'm copying it here for you. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of any further assistance. -GTBacchus(talk) 05:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

- You Beat Me to the Punch is, also, already a article.--Halls452 (talk) 02:15, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi. I've been doing cleanup on your edits to The Miracles for quite some time now, and I just wanted to make sure you were aware of Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view. All articles are to be written from an unbiased standpoint, avoiding opinionated language ("the classic 'The Tracks of My Tears'") and weasel words (a phrase like "This has miffed many fans" cannot be included with a reference and a better idea of who these fans are. Otherwise, it reads as a personal opinion). Please review Wikipedia:Neutral point of view for more information. Thank you. --FuriousFreddy (talk) 23:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- After reviewing more of your edits, I would like to ask you to again please review this policy, and also to review Wikipedia:Manual of Style, and make sure that your edits are in line with these standards. Thank you. --FuriousFreddy (talk) 18:43, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Freddy !! Willgee here . A while back you hinted that my calling The Miracles' "The Tracks Of My Tears" a "classic" could have been biased and /or a personal opinion. However, I consider myself a Miracles "expert" of sorts and have as you know, written many articles about this group and their songs for Wikipedia and elsewhere, and continue to do so. I have long known the facts about this song and the awards it has won, and later included them in the song's article . I am re- posting them here :
The Miracles' original version of The Tracks of My Tears has won the following awards and honors:
- The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) ranked it at #127 in its list of the Songs of the Century - the 365 Greatest Songs of the 20th Century.
- Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
- Chosen by Rolling Stone Magazine as #50 in its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
- Chosen as one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
- Preserved by the United States Library of Congress into the National Recording Registry .
- Winner of "The Award Of Merit" from The American Society of Composers,Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) for the song's writers, Miracles members Pete Moore, Marv Tarplin, and Smokey Robinson.
- Chosen as #5 of the Top 10 Best Songs of All Time by a panel of 20 top industry songwriters and producers including Hal David, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Jerry Leiber, and others as reported to Britain's Mojo music magazine.]
....So you see, the professional opinion about this song being a "classic" isn't just my opinion...it's a matter of music industry fact and record. a lot of other people also think so as well. -It is also by far The Miracles' most covered song...far more so than the song your editors term the group's "signature song", Ooo Baby Baby. If any song is the Miracles' "signature song"...It's The Tracks Of My Tears " - thanks again, Willgee.(User talk:Willgee|talk)

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Willgee! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 121 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

- I see Kimber's back again and up to the same old tricks. I don't know why Kimber is so insistent on this even with proof or references. We may have to talk to him/her/them soon to resolve this. BTW, The Temptations songs "Fading Away", "The Further You Look, the Less You See", "Don't Send Me Away" and "Slow Down Heart" may need references and data that I can't provide to keep a article for any of them in existence (Since they're B-sides; one is already being redirected). Maybe you could find some info for those articles, enough so the articles won't end up getting directed to another one (i.e. The A-Sides or the albums). Thanks.--Halls4521 (talk) 04:55, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi Willgee, that's strange to put on your user page, that is unless the two of you are in love! Best, --Discographer (talk) 23:00, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I've been in love with Claudette since I was 15 years old, sadly, like the song says, " She doesn't even know that I exist" (LOL)[1] (User talk:Willgee|talk)
songs written by the Miracles members.
editAs every song written by a member of the Miracles is already listed under the person's name this is a duplicate category. If you still think the category should continue to exist I will take it to CfD. There is already a debate regarding a similar named category in regard to the Bee Gees which is at CfD and looks like it will be deleted for exactly the same reasons this cat shouldn't exist. --Richhoncho (talk) 23:34, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Richhoncho- Hi. Willgee here. Re: songs written by The Miracles members
I don't see the difference between a category called "Songs written by The Miracles members" ,and songs written by Holland-Dozier-Holland , yet, no one has tried to delete or redirect that category.. Until I started this project 3 years ago, no one at Wikipedia had ever taken the time to document a complete, comprehensive, history of The Miracles, or of the songs that they wrote. (I think that you've probably gathered by now , that Smokey didn't write all of those hits by himself...in many cases , the other Miracles , Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, the late Ronnie White, Marv Tarplin, and even Billy Griffin, co-wrote , and even co-produced them...so , a category simply called "Songs written by Smokey Robinson" would not be entirely accurate.(though a sub category by that name would be O.K.) Nor would it make sense to have 3 separate categories listed as "Songs written by Brian Holland", "Songs written by Lamont Dozier", and "Songs written by Eddie Holland", since they wrote the songs together. So, to me, it just made more sense to consolidate the writings of all of The Miracles into one category. To leave out all of the songs composed by the Miracles ,(which has been exactly what's happened at Wikipedia until now,)simply didn't make sense to me, since up until now, all of the works of Motown's other writers had been present , accounted for,and so credited.
In fact, one of your own editors, GTBacchus, initially helped me with putting this category together, adding a list of additional songs, many of which, but not all of which, I've had time to write articles for. But , I'm working on it.( I just completed an article on The Contours 1964 "B" side hit, That Day When She Needed Me, which was written by Smokey). Of course, what the editors ultimately decide to this category is up to you.I just thought I'd state my reasons for having done it that way,and why I don't think it should be deleted. Many Thanks, Willgee. (Willgee (talk) 08:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC))
- Several things here...
- The Miracles is a marketing name to sell the performance of music, it is NOT a a "songwriting co-operative" or partnership, so comparisons with HDH are not appropriate.
- With the exception of The Bee Gees (which is presently up for separating) and the De John Sisters (who wrote one song jointly) there are no other songwriter categories by band, although there are separate entries for different members of Chicago, the Beatles, REM, Status Quo, and 100s of others.
- As the individual members of The Miracles all have separate songwriting categories, which means the category is a duplicate.
- As it is a duplicate I shall list it for deletion - when I do I will let you know.
- I don't have any "editors," we are all individuals striving to improve WP.
- You shouldn't post on my user page, but on my talkpage...it's alright I have have moved it.
- Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 09:58, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

edit When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to I'm On The Outside (Looking In), please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:
- If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
- If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. --hulmem (talk) 00:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Hi Willgee, we can't use this image because it's non-free and somebody will take this out since it's not a free rationale image. The only way we can use this, is if we got permission from the image uploader, which is User:FuriousFreddy (talk), to take the image out of The Miracles main article and use it in the book instead. An image like this can only be in one thing at a time, which you know, not two. Best, --Discographer (talk) 07:06, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- PS - I'm for using this image myself, so I hope FuriousFreddy don't mind. Best, --Discographer (talk) 07:10, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Willgee, what do you know about Charles J. Dorkins? I find on Google that he's a Tuskagee airmen, though I don't know if this is the same person or not (age-wise seems to make sense!). I'm waiting for him to continue with his editing on this article as I'm interested in wanting to know about his Motown affiliation. If you find anything out, won't you let me know? Speedy deletion nomination of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles LIVE!
editA tag has been placed on Smokey Robinson & The Miracles LIVE!, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. De728631 (talk) 23:00, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Ooo
editHi Willgee, you know (I'm sure you do) that the beginning part of "Being with You" - the "ooo" "ooo" "ooo" "ooo" bit - by Smokey Robinson, happened to be highly influenced by his Miracles song "Ooo Baby Baby"? Notice the similarities. Best, --Discographer (talk) 19:58, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Willgee! Hey, I seen you placed this in Book:The Miracles. I had placed it there also on my last edit of the book as titled "{Have a) Happy Landing", however I placed it under Songs rather than Singles, since it's the B-side of "You've Really Got a Hold on Me". I always thought "(Have a) Happy Landing" was the song title!?!?! Best, --Discographer (talk) 12:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

editHi Willgee!!! Different people actually added these albums covers images. I just fixed them up as appropriately needed, and whatever else I deemed in the same regard. Thanks for all your wonderful and hard work that you've put into The Miracles articles and anyrhing in relation of, and you know you can say anything to me at anytime you like. Keep up the great work as always! Thanks. Best, --Discographer (talk) 13:20, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
MOS, other things
editHi Willgee. I noticed this edit and thought that I'd leave you a note in case you want to improve your editing. First, note that per MOS:HEAD, headings should not contain links. Second, the source was added as an external link. You can see at WP:CITE how to create proper citations. I corrected both problems. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 12:40, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Hey Willgee!!! How's it going! I wanted to ask you this, if you might instead be intersted in creating a new article called The Midnighters instead of calling it Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, where we just leave the Hank Ballard article alone, and create a new one specifically on the doo wop group. What do you say about this? The reason I'm asking, is because we can base it on these articles we have on Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and Diana Ross & The Supremes. Also, as you can see, these articles were already created in the past, but were redirected to Hank Ballard. Any thoughts on this, please let me know. Thanks! Greetings, advice for photos
editHi Willgee, I am like the photo fairy for biographies of musicians on the Wikipedias. To use photos without violating copyright, we upload photos to Commons. Sometimes if you check there, a photo already exists! The workers there have their own version of the WP:MOS and are your best bet for in-depth assistance. Like Wikipedia, there's a help link on the left of the margin.
- About your chosen photo, when you look at it closely, the copyrights are shown below the photo. If no other photo exists with the group in it, you may add it to your article, but you will have to fill out a rationale for it. It's what we fill out to upload album covers, since no other image of them is available in those cases as well. User:Discographer can explain that part. If you knew the photographer, and were able to contact him/her/them, you might persuade them to remove all claim to the photo, or to adapt a Creative Commons license. We accept 2 of the 6 that exist. I keep the explanation here in one of my sandboxes:[2].
- Two great sources of photos exist: Picasa, and Flickr. What I do is check Flickr for those photos I want, and use their email system to contact the photographer for permission to use their photo. If they agree, I explain which of the licenses we accept in Creative Commons, ask them to change it on the exact photo page(s) I'm requesting, and once that's done, upload it to Wikimedia Commons so that we, or any language Wikipedia all have access to place the photo(s) on our articles. Takes a lot of time and patience, but I've uploaded about 2,000 photos- more than any other editor of any kind doing just that, placing every one but 2 pictures in the articles. See below our little typing area, and you'll notice that our editing here is all under a CC-BY-SA Creative Commons license, too.
- Last, assuming you have free use individual photos and if you have an article and are on the verge of a GA or FA review, and wish to place all the band members together in the top of the infobox, you may create a collage of the members, which is what I suggested in the talk page of the article for The Rolling Stones. I asked User:Moxy to do it, and he's so kind and talented- the result is there in the infobox! Nice. I hope this is all helpful to explain our rules and ways. Feel free to contact me, of course! Good luck! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:34, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Whoops- a bit more
editHey Willgee, why not store your practice work in your own sandbox? I made one for you here, which you can attach to your user page instead: [3]
- Also, here is the photo chart as to what licenses we can accept from photographers in Wikimedia Commons:

editHi. When you recently edited Doo-wop, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Get a Job and Try Me (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hi Willgee! I threw something in your sandbox, hope you don't mind! I have some of these myself, so I can experiment and keep things I want to save in 'em. Sorry about that picture not being free. Well, I'll talk to you later! Best, --Discographer (talk) 19:34, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- Well, the photo isn't free use, but you can fill out a rationale for using it, and place it in the article. Many musicians who died young but famous, or very old bands like the ones you are editing use non-free images, and it's OK. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:30, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
More help
editWillgee, we usually use sandboxes for all our practice stuff- like what I saw on your user page. User:Discographer is maybe the only person I don't see bothering with that, but it sort of keeps your work private until you are ready to unveil it to the world! I'd put all your stuff in your user page in your sandbox. See this to conceptualize your own User page: Wikipedia:User page design center
- Can you give me the URL to the exact photo for The Famous Flames in Flickr? I am 99% sure that there's a copyright on it, but it doesn't mean you can't use it in the article- you only need to fill out a justification for needing to use that photo if no others exist. If User:Discographer doesn't want to do it, I suppose I can do it, but all you need to do is see the left margin here where it says, "Upload file", and then follow the directions from there. Also, see Wikipedia:Image use policy and it will give you every answer to photo use! Regarding the other photos you want, send me the URL for them and I'll have a look and see if I can negotiate a better license agreement for you and upload them. I am really pleased you are covering artists who really deserve attention! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 10:56, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

editHi Willgee. You can try User talk:Ericorbit, who goes by the abbreviated name eo, he's an admin whose helped me out often in the past, though not much for edit-warring, more like for article deletions, moves and protection, small things like that. He focuses mainly on R&B-related articles.
I see that the last edits that both you and User talk:BrothaTimothy did were on The Miracles. So as we three are the main editors on this and other Miracles-related articles, I think that if the edit-warring concerns both you and him (which I hope not, as I work with both of you), might you contact him first about why he made the changes he made. If it's not him, then disregard. Hope this helps! Best, --Discographer (talk) 11:26, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Baby Lloyd Stallworth
editHey, thanks for the message on my talk page. We do have a problem here because Wikipedia sources need to be veritable and rely on published sources which have come under editorial control. Amazon book reviews are submitted by fans and members of the general public and totally fail a WP:RELIABLE test. I'm not questioning the notability of the group at all, but info needs to be verifiable and published in third party sources to be properly supported and cited. Anyone can put up a review on Amazon, so it is totally unsuitable as a source. Furthermore because the text has already appeared verbatim on another site before it was posted on Wikipedia, it doesn't matter whether or not it's your own text, it looks like plagiarism. It needs to be totally rewritten and rephrased to avoid appearing like copyvio. I hope this makes sense. You may also want to check WP:CONFLICT of interest if you are using your own writings as a basis for an article, even if you are trying to set the record straight. All best, and wishing you a happy seasonal period, Mabalu (talk) 13:05, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Three Hearts in a Tangle
editI wondered about this, too. The voices don't really sound to me like the Famous Flames - among other things, I think there's at least one woman's voice in there. The credits given on this site - reliable in my experience, from comparison with printed discographies - ascribe the background vocals to "Unknown" (discographic information is apparently taken from sources listed here). Also, the single's label does not specifically credit the Flames on vocals in the right-hand panel, only giving the generic (and frequently misleading, where vocals are concerned) "JAMES BROWN AND THE FAMOUS FLAMES" credit at the bottom of the label. For comparison, see the label for "Shout and Shimmy" the previous single with the Flames on vocals.

editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lee Farr, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Trackdown. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Four Tops
editHi there. I'm (temporarily) removing an edit you made to the Four Tops article - this one. I'm not quite sure what you were doing; it kind of looks like you were trying to copy something from a different article, but refs don't work in that way. Your edit added this:
- Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame- 2005.[6]
As you can see, the "6" there is not actually a citation, it's just a number with square brackets. I'm not sure if the MRRL award is worth adding, but I won't oppose it if you decide to add it back in with a proper reference. If you need help with composing a proper in-line citation (and God knows we don't make it easy to understand), see Help:Referencing for beginners. You can also reach out to me directly or ask a question on the help desk. Matt Deres (talk) 17:29, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
Dodge Dakota
editAs a long-term editor, can you please explain this edit? Also [4]. Why did you think a commercial for the vehicle was acceptable WP:RS? Have you read over what is and is not a proper reliable source? Are you familiar with WP:PROMO --David Tornheim (talk) 20:01, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- You responded here saying:
- I already discussed this issue with an editor before.
- I refuse to do it again.Jeep did make a production truck in the early Sixties called the Gladiator.
- The new recently-introduced Jeep Truck HAS revived the name .Road tests and info on the new truck are all over YouTube.LOOK IT UP.
- (You would get a lot further with fellow editors if you used kindness and civility. From the
- response you've received from other editors on your talk page, It seems you have a problem with that.)
- Willgee (talk) 20:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- Where did you discuss it with another editor? Which editor? YouTube videos are rarely adequate WP:RS. Please see: WP:RS/P. You have been here long enough, that I can't believe you don't understand our sourcing rules (WP:RS) regarding adding promotional content. I am issuing a formal warning below, because you have provided no reasonable explanation for your addition of advertising in the form of YouTube videos. --David Tornheim (talk) 20:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Hello, I'm David Tornheim. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Dodge Dakota have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --David Tornheim (talk) 20:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
This is a WARNING. Please do not continue to use YouTube videos as you have here and other advertising to promote products as you did. If you are aware of other places you have added similar promotional advertisements to Wikipedia, please remove them. --David Tornheim (talk) 20:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

editHello, Willgee,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Crystallizedcarbon and it's nice to meet you :-)

Non-existent categories
editBefore adding a category to an article, as you did to Iron Man, please make sure that the category page actually exists. In some cases, it may be appropriate to create a new category in accordance with Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, but it is usually better to use the most specific available existing category. It is never appropriate to leave a page categorised in a non-existent category, i.e. one whose link displays in red. You may find it helpful to use the gadget HotCat, which tests whether a category exists before saving a change. Thank you. . --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:43, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
