Your help is needed
editWelcome Yarrowplant! I see you have begun to contribute to Wikipedia. Hope you decide to poke your nose in more often.--Geewhiz (talk) 08:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I haven't been doing much editing, and our project at the Archives is going very slowly. However yesterday I came across a bad error. I would like to correct it but don't know how.
On a Wikimedia commons picture of the leaders of the Yishuv in Latrun,June 1946, the man on the far right is wrongly identified as Mr. Halperin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Latrun_detention_camp.jpg Some one has decided that this is Isser Halperin (Harel) even though Isser Harel was not held in Latrun. In fact according to Yaacov Sharett's edition of Moshe Sharett's letters from Latrun, it is Haim Alferin, a senior official from the Tel Aviv municipality. The picture appears on many websites including the English website of Isser Harel (not the Hebrew). How do I take it off that one? How do I correct it on the others (there are a lot).
Many thanks,Yarrowplant (talk) 09:36, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- I have removed the photo from the Isser Harel article.--Geewhiz (talk) 09:04, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Israel State Archives
editThe language that you restored to the article Israel State Archives was copied largely verbatim from the organization's Web site, the terms of use of which do not allow for such use. Wikipedia cannot host such copyright violations. If you want to add to the article sourced material that is written in your own words, so that it does not infringe on the copyright of the State of Israel, you can of course do so; but the content must not be a direct copy or a close paraphrase of the content on the Web site. Deor (talk) 07:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC) I work for the Israel State Archives and am responsible for this content, so there is no infringement of copyright involved. Do I still have to rewrite it? Yarrowplant (talk) 08:54, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yarrowplant, I tried to rewrite and copyedit the article, and began to get it into shape when Deor added his copyright vio tag. So basically, the last version before he tagged it is in better shape. I hope you will not be deterred and will find outside sources (not the ISA website) to back up the statements in the article, which is certainly an important one. If you can supply a photograph, that would also a valuable addition. --Geewhiz (talk) 09:00, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
