Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Janice Bryant Howroyd. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Got it, thank you!

I have a question about removing the awards from that page and says "None of these are notable awards." -- I would argue that many are very notable (Entrepreneur of the Year from BET, for instance). Why shouldn't these awards be listed if they are accurate?

Chris denson

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Chris denson a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Draft:Chris Denson. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.
Yobtar 1, you should NOT just do this, which you have now made into Draft:Chris Denson. The edit histories of these 2 pages now need to be 'merged' (see above) as you are, effectively, taking credit for other editors edits! 220 of Borg 09:53, 31 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks for the note on Chris Denson. I copy and pasted my own writing, but could definitely use some help or advice. There are two Chris Denson's. One is a basketball player at Chris_Denson and there was a blank page at Chris_denson so I wrote the content earlier this evening for the podcast host. Since the header kept his last name in lower case though, I decided it would make more sense to create a new page, so I copy/pasted what I wrote earlier tonight and created a new article request in draft mode (and deleted my content from Chris_denson). I haven't ever copy/pasted from another Wikipedia page before, and the content that I did copy was all written by myself earlier tonight. If you know how to help approve the one I wrote since there are two people with the same name, I would appreciate that and any other notes you have. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yobtar1 (talkcontribs) 10:07, 31 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

When two Wikipedia (WP) pages have the same names they need to be wp:Disambiguated. I would suggest Chris Denson (podcaster) as a possible page name to disambiguate from Chris Denson. That other page may then need to be moved to Chris Denson (basketball), or similar. I made some edits to the former Chris denson page too, (see here) so they should be attributed to me. 220 of Borg 10:20, 31 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use thumbnails inside of infoboxes as you did to The Art of Work. Note that this is your second warning regarding this issue. Continuing to add thumbnails will be seen as disruptive editing. For more information please see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE. When adding an image, instead of doing:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

You can simply supply the name of the image. So in this case just do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

Hello Yobtar1, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page.
Comment: The second paragraph of the lead of 'The Art of Work' is a close paraphrase of, or copied, from other websites.
Thank you. 220 of Borg 01:05, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I wasn't logging in to multiple accounts for nefarious reasons. In fact I made several edits while not logged in because I forgot, and had a second account for privacy/security reasons. I enjoy contributing here and believe everything I have contributed has been helpful to the site and was done with good intentions. Please let me know how I can remedy or unblock my account. Procedural decline. Superseded by the request below. Please, do not make more than one request at a time. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:27, 13 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

In case it is helpful context, I initially made the captkoons9 account to upload images to Wiki commons, thinking I needed a unique account there to do so. Since then I have used both accounts at different times not realizing I was breaking any rules. I realize ignorance isn't the best defense, but I had no method or reason to be deceptive at all. Is there anyway I can keep one of the accounts open now that I understand the one account policy? Yobtar1 (talk) 18:01, 28 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

No relation that I know of, and my account is still suspended. Have explained the new pages, edits and contributions I made -- all to notable figures and companies. Made a mistake by having two logins but nothing was added to be spam or advertising. Would love an explanation or reasoning to continue to block my account rather than just allowing me to use the one login going forward. Based on contributions I've made to the site, I think its clear I have only benefited the pages I contributed to.

Decline reason:

I have looked at the editing history of Zdogg2114, and frankly the claim that there is "no relation that [you] know of" is absurd. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:28, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on JJA Venture Search, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yobtar1, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Proposed deletion of Innovation Crush

edit

The article Innovation Crush has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not pass WP:N.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
