Wagners
editHi Zigzig. I should have some freee time this weekend, so I'll make a start with Henry. Arthur can follow next. I've more or less finished an initial read of Henry's chapter in that book, so I reckon I can make a decent start. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 23:24, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- On the redirect ... hmmm, it looks like that bit below the line ("This is a redirect from a page that has been moved/renamed...") has been added recently to moved pages that are now a redirect. I've certainly never seen it before, but when I look at some of the redirect pages for articles I have moved from userspace, it appears on them as well. Must be an across-the-board change. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 21:24, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- No, a page move will always automatically leave a redirect. I was always under the impression that a post-move redirect in userspace could not be deleted because it would affect the edit history, but I've just spent some time looking around various help pages and policy pages and now I'm not so sure! You may be able to request deletion of the redirect by putting this at the top of the page: {{db-g7}} (this is the speedy deletion template for "author requests deletion"). Try it on one; I'm not sure if it is "allowed", but let me know either way! Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 22:13, 20 January 2014 (UTC) — To get to the redirect page itself rather than the article to which the redirect is pointing, you'll need to add &redirect=no to the end of the URL (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Zigzig20s/NathanielThomas_Lupton&redirect=no. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 22:14, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- That's an interesting question. I don't know how significant the monetary/resource cost is – probably minimal at an individual level, but across the whole of Wikipedia perhaps more noticeable. I'm not even sure where to go to ask that question ... I've never been that good on the technical side of Wikipedia (LOL). I've always found the Village Pump pages useful for finding answers to Wikipedia-related questions. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 22:38, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about the picture
editIt was my mistake to remove the picture as you pointed out on my talk page.
I was going to contact you about Elkman Infobox Generator, which would simplify your editing if you are willing to use it. Existing and some other properties with refnums before some date in 2010 have the infobox set out with the refnum. Having the refnum keeps the page off of the right hand box for Wikipedia talk:National Register of Historic Places, which is the list I have been fixing. The NRIS database and the elkman infobox generator are not guaranteed to be free from errors, so it is good to look at your sources also.
I have noticed that you have made heavy use of NRHP.com, which is useful, but it is just a commercial listing of the same NRIS database. But NRHP.com does not discriminate. A small fraction of its listings were never listed (e.g. owner objection, etc) or removed (delisted). So some caution must be applied to that and other lists that copy the NRIS data.
To answer another question of yours, I can't put the maps on those sites. If you can supply the geocoordinates for the site and set " | locmapin = Mississippi," the map will be generated. Good wishes in adding to MS sites. KudzuVine (talk) 18:06, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- NRIS database is the official listing except for new listings/delistings. The Weekly listing gives the updates and also listings back in time.
I have done much on South Carolina sites including many plantations, but school keeps me busy much of the time these days. KudzuVine (talk) 18:43, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

after all these years
edityou still manage to catch articles which your reqphoto seem so incredibly absurd. Campbell barracks actually has signs that say no photographs, believe it or not. In all WP:AGF - think of something else please. It is a military establishment that has strict control on public access and is not the sort of place where even media with permits are allowed much leeway. After the tasmanian rocks all these years ago, where no one actually goes.... oh well have a good new year. satusuro 16:18, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- exactly the same stance with isolated rocks in Tasmania.
Please understand in WP:AGF - you created a dumb request - a highly secretive (for good reason) army installation - you want a photo? You want me to pull my head in. No, sorry there are actually restrictions on that site, and if you dont like my response, too bad. It would be foolhardy to actually ask someone else to take a photo there, and asking them to break federal laws and regulations. Sorry. satusuro 16:40, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
I am not the owner of anything on wikipedia - look at the CC business - nothing is owned, but I do know common sense when it comes to military sites. Have fun when you are in perth, but from your tagging isolated rocks in tasmania you give me no confidence that you know what you are tagging most of the time. There are lots of photographs taken already for commons about perth - if you are here, dont forget to actually catch up with locals - they might actually give you an idea what to take, rather than tagging. satusuro 16:45, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Just a reminder, if I see a request and I know the location or the person, which from my experience it will not be legally or practically possible to get a CC based photo and see it as a ridiculous request, I will revert it, regardless of your personal feelings - specially in the example of the campbell barracks - which could get a person into legal problems. I am not a sort of oh what a great idea responder to requests that might put a potential photographer in physicial or legal danger, but from your response that echoes your response all those years ago - I will in fact alert you to the legal or practical issues at the same time seeing you seem to be a sensitive soul. Have a safe journey to australia, and enjoy your interactions with the liberal politicians. satusuro 16:54, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
I look forward to seeing how many of your tasmania photo requests you actually find humanly possible to do when you get there. Good luck. satusuro 16:56, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Pretty sure you made similar claims about an impending visit before when confronted about the blatant overtagging. Locals advised you then of the remoteness of the places you were tagging from Perth and the distance from any sort of transport. Seems to be a recurring theme... editI take no pleasure in reminding you the pointlessness of the creation of the stub https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_James%27_Church,_Greenough,_Western_Australia
First its only notability was from a deadlink based on none other than a liberal party website. There was no attempt to discern the denomination, in either the lead and only sentence, in the title of the article, or in the project tag at the rear (Christianity is irrelevent and a pointless indicator).
If it had been created in good faith, the denomination (Anglican) should have been identified in the category, in the lead sentence, and some effort beyond a liberal party unstable website refernce, as well as an Anglicanism project tag. Since none of that was done, and a WP:SHOUTING edit summary, I fail to see where the editing of such a stub can go, there was no attempt at clarifying anything to do with the WP:N, WP:V of such a church. satusuro 17:25, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Orientation
editTrust your travels went smoothly.
Your missed the Perth meetup yesterday, you could have had the opportunity to meet real live wikipedians.
First WikiProject Perth no longer exists as such, you have registered in an inactive project, almost 90% of the peoples names on that list are no longer active or regular editors here on wikipedia en. Try finding the talk page for the project - it redirects to the WA project. Someone forgot to turn out the lights.
Second, before you get too carried away with offers of photographs, please take a very close look at
and your enthusiasms for suburbs you need to take a close look at
and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Cottesloe,_Western_Australia
and also the other locations you claim you might access.
Also note that the commons categories, image titles, and descriptions are a real mess, no one appears to check for errors or make corrections or cleans them up and there are repeatedly serious errors throughout the collection attributed to Perth and its surrounds. Please do not add to the errors, check with other editors - it is well worth speaking/messaging other active editors when here in Western Australia.
Also please note that Perth should preferably never be stated as Perth, Australia - no such place exists - it is Perth, Western Australia.
Very important if you are out and about take care of the sun/uv rating (current Sunday 2nd February 9.5 Very High) see http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml - UV Alert from 8:20 am to 4:40 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 13 [Extreme] also http://www.bom.gov.au/uv/ - the cool breeze from the east in the city area is deceptive - the uv can burn you badly if you are not prepared.
Have a safe stay - and try to communicate with locals, it might make some of your plans/ideas a lot easier satusuro 04:16, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
reply
editAs I warned you if you are just from the uk - it can kill (I know of a number people who have died from incurable skin cancer/melanoma here in western australia :( ) Your isolated thing doesnt work, as in most cases things like meetups and wikimanias are in fact a very useful way to understand the users are humans too (not sharks) and are actually things beyond their usernames (how many people do you know who are called in off-wiki situations First of January, my equivalent in Javanese)... and it is possible to interact a thousand times better than on line interactions. Get a HAT, get more covering clothes, and use sun screen. Apply something on your burn, it can be problematic if left untouched by something to reduce it. I will look at the commons issues later tonight or tommorow. Take care, and dont pride yourself in your anonyimity or obscurity, make sure you go to London Wikimania 2014, and I will buy you a beer or tea, whichever fits. satusuro 08:55, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
lack of local knowledge
edithttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Garrick_Theatre_%28Guildford%29&diff=593687313&oldid=583758642 is not a good idea - the photograph (as I have suggested in a previous message, never ever assume that commons titles or descriptions are correct... many uploads on commons are by non english speaking visitors who have no idea where they are....) is not of the garrick theatre -
Guildford has a very good set of signs and tourist information what would clearly not identify the building as what you claim, and it simply goes back to check first with a local - putting something up like that simply shows how easy it is to be caught out. satusuro 10:02, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
However, please refrain from attacking me aggressively for being foreign and not local. The appropriate way to communicate with me would be to say, "Thank you very much for your edit, but I believe this is incorrect..." I have never interacted with someone as blunt as yourself, in life or online. - you must have indeed had a very sheltered life, I am neither attacking you and if you dont understand the problems and extraordinary ease of online misinterpretation - you are projecting a lot of stuff back on to me that is not intended in any way.
I have already stated (now third time) - never take commons titles or descriptions at face value - and if you had been actually walking between the Polo club oval on the helena river flat, and the former Guildford Cinema - you might have seen some signs on the route, and you would have learnt a lot! If you have been to Guildford, it would be useful to know if you have walked the area... If you havent I could offer a lot of clues as to your journey - it is up to you. satusuro 10:54, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
And just in case you misinterpret that as well, I could do the polo club article in less than an hour if you ask... I happen to know something about the Guildford locality and related subjects. But if you are going to take that offer the wrong way, I have lots of other wikipedia things that I am doing anyways. cheers. satusuro 11:51, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
I have a very large amount of unloaded photos of guildford on hard drive storage, and an intimate knowledge of guildford - as well as the capacity to go and do photos on demand in next day or so.. can i help with anything.. ? satusuro 12:24, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, and my apologies for what might seem a slight brusqueness - will see what I can do in the short term, will let you know when it is up... satusuro 12:50, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
One very small very little request and very small favour for the day - would you please stop tagging articles that I have obviously created with reqphotos, it would be really appreciated, as it really gets quite un nerving as I am sure you have no idea how trollish it looks... I have never asked anyone for reqphoto ever in my 90.000 + edits, it would make me feel less under obligation to help (where I can) regarding Guildford and it surrounds. I am sure you would appreciate that I dont go wandering through your edits and try tagging anything, or any other persons edits - specially with anything like that. It would be much appreciated if you could consider that withjout replying, but just accepting the request.
Also I learnt an (about an hour or so ago) important person at the place in my work place died yesterday, any offers I made about photos in the short term are delayed indefinitely - possibly for a week or so... satusuro 15:11, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Your sympathetic and understanding answer makes me agree with you, a waste of time, bye satusuro 00:45, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
The Old Ship
editHi Zigzig. Hope you enjoyed your time in Brighton! Yes, The Old Ship is on my to-do list; part of it (the former Assembly Room to the rear) is listed, although oddly enough the rest of the building is excluded. In any case there's lots of info in my books and other sources, so plenty of scope for an article. Not sure when it will be—I need to finish both Wagners first—and likewise with Kings Gardens. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 13:28, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
- Although Chichester Terrace (here's a pic I took in 2009) is part of the Kemp Town development, I tend to agree that each separate part of the estate needs a separate article (Chichester Terrace, Arundel Terrace, Sussex Square and Lewes Crescent), given that they are each separately listed at Grade I. Actually, List of books set in Brighton and Hove (or maybe just Brighton) would be worth writing – I have seen a comprehensive list (mainly novels) somewhere in one of my books! Boodles, in general
editBoodles have set up COI accounts on here to edit the articles associated with them, so I have removed any puffery or promotion like wording from all associated articles. Also [[Boodles (company)|Boodles]] is the correct link. Cheers. Murry1975 (talk) 18:34, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Duplicate pic
editHi – on the image you want to get rid of, go into the edit window and put the following code below the =={{int:filedesc}}== heading:
{{Duplicate|''Name of the image you want to keep''}}
This will then add it to the category of duplicate images which will be "speedily deleted" by a Commons admin. Nice church BTW (and nice weather over there!) Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 12:51, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Using parks as an example: start by typing the name of the new category (exactly as you want it to appear, and including the Category: prefix) in the Search box. You'll see a page that looks like this: [1] Then click the red link where it says Create the page "Category:Parks in Cottesloe, Western Australia" on this wiki!. In the edit window that comes up, put at least one parent category under which you want your new category to sit. In this example, I would suggest Category:Cottesloe, Western Australia and Category:Parks in Perth, Western Australia. (You'll need to include square brackets around them.) When you save the page, the new category has been created and linked to its parents. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 15:42, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- I've fixed it by creating Category:Parks in Cottesloe, Western Australia first and then completing the creation of the Grant Marine Park category (first link you added to my talk page) by adding "Category:Parks in Cottesloe, Western Australia" as its parent. On the second link, the bit where it says "This category contains only the following page: ... Grant Marine Park" is because you had accidentally created a page called Grant Marine Park rather than a category. Remember to always use the Category: prefix when creating a new category. The other thing to keep in mind is that when you are creating a series of categories, always start at the highest level and go downwards: so start by creating "Category:Parks in XXX" and then do all the "child" categories (Category:AAA Park, Category:BBB Park etc.), remembering to link each one to "Category:Parks in XXX" as you go. Then if you have further sub-categories (e.g. Category:Birds in AAA Park), create those next and link them to the appropriate parent. Hope that helps. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 16:23, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- I've added a speedy deletion template ([2]), as I think it qualifies for the speedy deletion criteria. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 18:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Difficult to say, really ... I suppose the tag isn't universally popular (tags on Wikipedia seem to be a regular source of disagreements between editors). Best thing to do is just to state your case on the relevant user talk pages and explain why you are adding the tags, but if you face too much resistance just move on to something else. Note that the tag will automatically add the article to a hidden category, "Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in wherever", which gives a useful overview of what is needed in a particular geographical area. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 19:27, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Looks like the incorrect Westwood Park category has already been deleted, so that's fine; the code you would use to add it to the speedy deletion requests page would be this (you can tweak the wording in the second part
- {{speedydelete|I intended to create a category but did not use "Category:" as the prefix.}}
- Regarding the date templates, they are maintenance templates which add the article to a hidden category depending on whether dates are in dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd format. Apparently they are being added automatically to articles at the moment to assist with the monitoring of date formats. If you have written an article in a particular date format and want it to be preserved, you can manually add the following code at the top or bottom of the article – it won't be visible, but will add the article to the hidden category:
- {{Use dmy dates|date=February 2014}} or {{Use mdy dates|date=February 2014}} depending whether you want day first or month first. The "date=" bit just shows the month and year you added the template. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 13:10, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

editJust following up an earlier conv - I took over 700 pictures in Kalgoorlie last year (all yet to be uploaded, as I've been busy with other things), but the Miners Hall of Fame is only open a couple of days a week (is behind a locked gate at several hundred metres' distance the rest of the time) and is also a *long* walk from the centre of Kalgoorlie (there's no buses to or anywhere near it). Not sure if you were aware of that, but thought I'd let you know. Orderinchaos 17:08, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

I would need to look into Cuckfield, Park Hill (Windsor) and the Union Bank connection (I have a little information about it, but no more than is in the Hanningtons article). WIth regard to John Russell Green (10 June 1890, Chicago — 22 November 1933, Paris) there may be an interesting story — though I do not yet know the end of it. He left four wills (dated 1925, 1928, 1932, and 1933). The 1932 will left various bequests to his sisters and their children, with the residual to go to his French mistress, Madame Berthe Randon. His estranged wife, Ellen "Mousie" Breth of North Carolina, a 1917 Ziegfield Follies showgirl, was left nothing in either the 1932 or 1933 will. As his death approached, Berthe, who was caring for him, let his sisters know that he was dying (of alcoholism, apparently, although the official cause seems to have been said to be tuberculosis). The sisters rushed to Paris and had him write the 1933 will on his deathbed, leaving nothing to Berthe. Berthe claimed this will was invalid, as he was not sufficiently cogent to change his will at the time, and also alleging the undue influence of his sisters. (It was testified that at the Clinique Eugene Manuel, where he died, he was known as "Monsieur Whiskey.") The first two trials went against Berthe, but I do not know how subsequent trials turned out. He is buried in the Cimetière du Père Lachaise. - Nunh-huh 01:14, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I am trying to figure out if he achieved anything with his life. Simply being an heir does not make one notable, but many heirs do end up being prominent in their own rights (sometimes in business, sometimes in patronage, etc.)Zigzig20s (talk) 09:29, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Re: Golladay Hall
editThis house isn't individually listed on the Register. This webpage gives the address as 501 Margin Street, and you may note the presence of a Margin Street Historic District on the list. National Register status isn't granted without a lot of documentation, including a detailed nomination form with lots of information about the place; the fourth page of this district's nomination form lists 501 Margin Street as one of the district's contributing properties. So it's on the Register, but not by itself; it's merely one of the components that helps to make an NR-listed historic district historic. Nyttend (talk) 11:15, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Homewood Plantation
editThanks. I asked in the chat room if I could do it, and the person basically said that it isn't how things are done. However, he added something to the page that made it say awaiting review. I figured out how you can review it, but it would probably take you some time to understand all the instructions. →On the draft page, Draft: Homewood Plantation (Natchez Mississippi), you click on show in the Reviewer Tools section of the box the help desk guy put on my page to get to the instructions link. Click on instructions. Then in the green box at the top of the page, click on the following link: Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Helper script. Then scroll down to the Editing section and check the box that says Yet another AFC helper script. Then click save at the bottom of the page. After doing all this, go back to the page where you clicked on instructions and read the rest of that page to get you started. This seems to be how to get started, but I just figured this much out by reading the pages - not by anyone at Wikipedia telling me anything.
I think you would be good at reviewing, and you seem well qualified according to the guidelines I saw. I would like it if you did it, but it seems like a lot to take on. Anyway, they will probably review it in a week or two anyway.
I liked your Cypress Grove Plantation page - thanks for that one. Billmeguire (talk) 13:55, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- I wish I had talked to you before I tried to get the article from my user space to the main space. If there is a next time, I will certainly ask you how you do it. Probably the only way to do a William L. Baflour article would be to go to Jackson, MS to the state archives and to the LSU library and find their files, which probably have obscure newspaper articles collected on him. I could be wrong, though. The other Hunt plantations don't have articles about them to my knowledge. Without being able to use my research, I've about run out of material to do the other plantations. I could maybe do one on Medway Plantation, located outside of Charleston. My ancestors owned that one way back - if I ever get in the mood. Thanks again for putting so much on Wikipedia about plantations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billmeguire (talk • contribs) 00:06, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Woodlawn Plantation
editThere probably weren't enough articles written about Woodlawn for a Wikipedia article. People just wrote about David Hunt instead, because his home on Woodlawn plantation was nothing special. Of all the Hunt plantations, only Lansdowne and Homewood were written about because of the extravagant homes built on them. That's why I had to do so much research to piece together the information about the other plantations. I think you got it right with having the Abijah Hunt, David Hunt, Lansdowne and Homewood pages. Those may be the only ones with enough sources for Wikipedia.
The photo you mentioned of Hunt (the one in the Tennessee Portrait project, or something, website) on my talk page was published in 1992 already on page 95 of the book - Natchez, An Illustrated History, by David G. Sansing, Sim C. Callon and Carolyn Vance Smith. You are right about it probably being public domain. I just learned how to put photos on Wikipedia, so I'm sort of new to this aspect of the articles. - User:Carptrash: Adolphus Busch. I think it works grammatically, as the explanatory clause is closed by commas. The reason I did not trim it down to "acquired his father-in-law's Anheuser Brewery" is because the reference only mentions a brewery in St. Louis, not that it was his father-in-law's, as far as I remember. This article needs more references. (It was much worse before I started improving it.) Perhaps you can find more?Zigzig20s (talk) 20:46, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. NRHP infoboxes
editYou have created some articles, like Skipwith Hall, where you set nrhp_type = National Register of Historic Places. Please only use an entry from the valid list, which is described here, look under Designations and then click show accepted values. For the most common type of entry, just a normal NRHP listing, leave the nrhp_type blank. You might have been trying to get the "U.S. National Register of Historic Places" banner to display in the infobox. The real problem is that the banner doesn't display if the reference number field and nrhp_type are blank. a refnum (or partof_refnum) should usually be present. Feel free to add the reference number when you create the article. Generic1139 (talk) 21:10, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education
editThe article The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Randykitty (talk) 15:17, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
J. Hooker Hamersley
editHi. You added Thomas Gordon as a 5th generation ancestor. I'm not sure how much ancestral information is too much, but I think this might be. Hamersley was also a 6th generation descendant of Robert Livingston the Elder, who was much more prominent; if you keep Gordon you might want to add him. Other ancestors include Anneke Jans (not the one we have an article on, but the one whose descendants claim she owned 62 acres of land in the middle of Manhattan.[4])- Nunh-huh 10:03, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Just a little note, I guess
editFrom everything I've seen on your talk page, you've created a lot of pages. Some people call ME fast for the large number of birth/death dates I've added, but you're creating pages, some of which I've edited. I think this is what makes Wikipedia so great. Anyone can create articles, and many of those articles are on quite obscure topics. I don't want that to sound as if it's an insult. In fact, it's exactly the opposite. Let's say that there's someone who happens to be interested in the ancient tribes of Italy. They can find an abundance of knowledge on major tribes, and a good amount of knowledge on some of the lesser-known tribes without having to look for the same information on a website that you'd probably find on page 30 of a Google search. By the way, no need to thank me for the edit. You pretty much created the page, and I added some details you missed, although I bet you would have fixed the edits sooner or later.

This is a WP:BLP. You cannot put in controversial material into a BLP - especially one which either misrepresents or cherry picks sources - without strong consensus. You can take it to WP:BLPN. Alternatively you can start an WP:RfC.Volunteer Marek (talk) 21:25, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- User:Volunteer Marek: I'll probably have to start an RFC, because it's referenced content and when you google "Michael Morell", there are lots of results. Thus, your edit violates WP:NOTCENSORED. It's nobody's fault but his own if he holds controversial foreign policy views. Also, "stronger approach" violates WP:EUPHEMISM. You also removed his direct quote, which explains your euphemism. Do I need to start two RFCs?Zigzig20s (talk) 21:29, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

- User:Anythingyouwant: I agree with you that once he's told the entire world in an interview published online, it's not exactly covert. By the way, I was disappointed to find out he was not gay. When it comes to sea life, I have a penchant for seahorses.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:08, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm. I think most people understand the difference between covert and overt killings to be determined by whether the killing is done without leaving evidence of who did it. But you probably knew that.
- BTW, I'm worried about those Greenland sharks; people who want to live a long life will now probably want to eat them. Seahorses are safe from us for now.
- Why did you want him to be gay? Anyway, I haven't investigated whether (as it says in his lead) he supports torture, but I suspect he probably opposes torture while defining or interpreting the word "torture" differently from how the majority of scholars define or interpret that word.Anythingyouwant (talk) 22:40, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- User:Anythingyouwant: True, at least he didn't give the specifics of covert actions. Still, there must have been a rationale for telling the entire world. I wonder if he'll write an op ed telling us why.
- Actually, seahorses are under attack from shrimp-farming. It is very sad. And I probably have shrimp as often as John Sexton does. I can't have it all.
- He's cute and didn't have a "personal life" section, so I thought he might be a male Condoleezza Rice, but then I found out he had a wife. By the way, he supports enhanced interrogation to keep us safe (like my hero, Dick Cheney), but we can't use that phrase because of WP:Euphemism. I like Morell--I wish he got along with Daddy.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:55, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- The battery in my iPhone is just about dead, and no re-charger is handy, so I will be signing off soon. I tweaked the Morrell lead to track the cited source, because I doubt he self-identifies as a torture-supporter (and I would think that a torture-supporter generally supports all forms of torture). Talk to you later. Cheers.Anythingyouwant (talk) 00:23, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

- Well, I'm not involved in that BLP, but I do find its talk page interesting to read, and I hope you'll explain there why you think the BLP subject was discussing covert rather than overt killings. As to obscurantism, one might argue that the designer of our universe favored obscurantism, but we are gradually enlightening ourselves nevertheless, such as this recent and amazing discovery about Greenland sharks that I find astounding. - No biggie. I didn't know what that word meant until today, so thanks for the info. Isaac Newton explicitly admitted to being deliberately abstruse, which I might add to that article at some point.Anythingyouwant (talk) 17:08, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

- User:Rms125a@hotmail.com: Thanks. I suppose Haaretz is a better source than The Times of Israel. It is also corroborated by Israel Hayom. If we can find more about her career and expand the article, we may be able to take it to Recent Deaths on the main page.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:53, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
That was a really solid effort, sourcing the whole filmography nearly single-handedly. Well done. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:29, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- Awesome work, and something I'll be using as an example of exactly what to do in these circumstances. My highest regards to you and your efforts, despite our disagreements. Thanks for your hard work. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

Prodigious effort. Shouldn't have been required IMHO, and you could have probably done without harping from the sidelines, but really just an amazing effort. My hat's off to you. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 02:33, 22 December 2016 (UTC) |
Timmons
editIf you can fix that one citation needed I'll post it, if another admin doesn't get to it first. Good job. Stephen 08:34, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
- User:Stephen: Thanks. The only thing I can find is this, but it's not a reliable source. We could just delete it if it stands in the way of ITN.Zigzig20s (talk) 08:37, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
