editMy name is Cindy and I am an Online Ambassador, working with Professor Gelbman's U.S. Political Parties course. As an Online Ambassador, I function as an advisor, providing support for both professors and students who are incorporating Wikipedia into the classroom. My role serves to assist newcomers with navigating the encyclopedia and answer any questions that would lend to a greater understanding of the specific culture of Wikipedia. I will be here to guide students through their first 100 edits, and longer, if needed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need help or have any questions. I look forward to working with you. Awesome. Glad you are enjoying writing Wikipedia. If you can do it all day, great! But remember, work, school and family commitments still exist, so don't neglect those.
Hi Ztteaguisu. I'm glade to see some of the citation work you've added recently to Wikipedia. Recently you added the sentence "She is unappreciated and often forgotten as a central Illinoisan" to the Betty Friedan entry on the List of People from Peoria page. While this may be true, this information would be more appropriate for her biography page. These list pages are just for informing the reader of what makes this person notable and how they are related to the place in question. Remember also to cite your sources, this statement as written reads as your personal opinion. It would be a lot more convincing if you cite some credible sources and write the sentence as a reference to those sources. Cheers and happy editing Dkriegls (talk to me!) 07:04, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
User:Dkriegls Thanks for the words of Wiki Wisdom. The truth is I wished I had used my wiki account (this one) to add the Betty Friedan mention to the list. Once I logged in after forgetting my password I wanted to add myself to the edit list for the street cred. That's the truth, I actually added the entire line but then logged in for the "credit". I live in Peoria and work with the housing authority, I noticed a street named after her. I was moved to find out more. I am also in the process of teaching a class on Local minority voices of the central Illinois area. Thanks for the pointers.
- Sounds like some fun learning. I did delete your whole entry because she was already on the list under Authors and academics. Maybe she isn't so over looked ;) Don't worry though, practice being bold and make mystakes, it's the best way to learn.
- If you are into this feminist stuff, here is a huge list of female writers, poets and literary folk needing Wikipedia articles. I put it together a while back and have been slowly chipping away. Pick one and mess around to see if you can write something decent. Ask for help and follow the Tips for writing biographies at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography. It would be a good way for you to learn some editing rules. Dkriegls (talk to me!) 02:26, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
