Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! This particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies. The rule of thumb here is noting whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable.
I feel pretty sure that these articles would meet notability, but so far it seems that the sources you're using are "primary sources." Are there secondary sources that talk about these organizations? Our purpose is not simply to restate what is on the official website, but instead to talk about what other sources have to say about the company. :)
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the articles yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion.
As a final note, please make sure that your content doesn't borrow language from the website. Unless they license it so that we can use it, we have to describe it completely in our own words. (See Wikipedia:Copy-paste.) Good luck, and happy editing. :) Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:53, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kenn Gardner

edit

I would like to make a wiki page of Kenn Gardner. Kenn is currently running for Secretary of State. He has been and continues to be a leader in North Carolina which is prevalent in his prior position as Wake County Commissioner (a position he held for eight years). Seeing as Beitler, Kenn Gardner's opponent, has a wiki-page, I feel that it is important for voters to see Kenn Gardner and his accomplishments as well. Outside of the political arena, Kenn Gardner has also been a leader in the Foster Children program. His program is now a now a national model. This program alone should be reason enough for Kenn Gardner to have his own wiki page due to the national impact that it has. Furthermore, he was elected 2008 National Urban Elected Official. I believe that speaks well of his leadership within North Carolina and Nationally as well.

Thank you for your time. Below is a sneak peek as to how I would set up his Wiki-page. Please make suggesstions. - Kevin Dean

Hi. :) We are politically neutral at Wikipedia. It doesn't much matter to us whether his behavior speaks well of him or speaks badly of him; Wikipedia exists to neutrally relate what reliable sources have to say about notable individuals.
The question, then, is always whether or not the individual is notable. There are two guidelines that can apply to biographies like this: Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (people). Basically, what it will come down to is whether or not Mr. Gardner has been widely discussed by other media, like newspapers and journals. I see some such coverage here. It's quite possible that there is enough coverage to warrant an article.
What's particularly important to remember, though, is that we are required to give fair balance to both good and bad material that these news sources have to say about him. His accomplishments are well worth recording, but an article on Mr. Gardner should also include coverage of negative aspects of his career, such as perhaps the "conflict of interest" accusations documented here. We don't, of course, go beyond what the news sources say. When documenting controversies in a politician's career, we never draw conclusions as to his or her guilt or innocence, but our neutrality policy requires that we do discuss them. (See WP:NPOV.)
In terms of sourcing positive achievements, these should be drawn from secondary sources, not from the candidate's own website. If he has been awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine (and I'm sure he has), there should be mention of it in a newspaper article somewhere. :) This meets the requirements of verifiability.
What I would recommend at this point is going through the news sources, magazine sources and other disinterested sources you can find and making sure that coverage of Mr. Gardner is neutral and balanced, based on what they have to say. That would be a good step towards meeting Wikipedia's core policies.
Good luck, and happy editing! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:25, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dubhiyan is a village in Nagod Tahsil, Satna (M. P.). It has three tola (“subunit”) – thakuraha, Mazha and Delhi Tola. This village was developed after partition by son of Lal Saheb Hriday Shah, Thakur Saheb of Chandkuan S/O Raja PRITHVI RAJ SINGH who ruled princely state Nagod 1648 -1685.

Meaning of Dubhiyan is 2 open arms meaning welcome gesture. Even today, village and surrounding area has its own traditions of being led by head of Thakur family which draw on a tradition of over 200 years. Currently, Thakur, Sh. Jeevendra Pratap Singh who is the eldest living descendant of princely state ruler in the village. His eldest son, Thakur, Sh. Brejendra Singh Parihar had joined state government in 1982 and Grandson, Thakur, Sh. Abhijeet Singh Parihar who studied at Symbiosis, Pune. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhijitparihar (talkcontribs) 09:58, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The topic looks suitable, but you will need references as well. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:47, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discover Life in America

edit

DLIA is a small NGO based in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park, and I believe it merits a wikipedia page. Their primariy function is to help proliferate research in GSMNP and add to the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) which has a small wikipedia article itself. It's a joint effort with the National Park Service to identify and record every species of life in the Great Smokey Mountains. This is considered the most successful area of the ATBI research being done globally and I feel their work is certainly of importance to the overall study of biodiversity. Here are some links I've found from the start, I'm sure I could find more if necessary:

There may be enough there for an article - I suggest that you follow the process at WP:Articles for creation where you can draft the article and have it reviewed by other users.--ukexpat (talk) 15:47, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kent W. Colton

edit

Kent W. Colton requested that I create a page for him. He is currently a Senior Scholar at the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University and President of a housing research and consulting firm. He served as EVP and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders from 1984-1999, has more than 30 years of experience as a housing scholar and expert in the field of mortgage finance and housing policy, has written numerous publications on housing finance, and serves on several boards. There is information about him on other Wikipedia pages, but no page dedicated to him. He has provided a bio and links to verify biographical information. Examples of a few include: http://www.jchs.harvard.edu/search/content/kent%20w.%20colton http://marriottschool.byu.edu/advisoryboard/detail.cfm?mem=1192&group=4&pid=3796 http://svu.edu/about/leaders/kent-colton http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=kent+w.+colton

His name seems to be on a list of blocked article names. Requesting permission to create a page or provide the biography to be posted by a Wikipedia editor. Dinman01 (talk) 19:13, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you cannot create the article as named, but you can write a good article, then you can use you sandbox, User:Dinman01/sandbox to make a start. However the sources here look to be connected with the subject, ie places he worked for or sells through. For notability purposes we do need independent reliable and substantial writings in addition to material that might have been provided by the subject. I cannot see that the article is stopped against creation at Kent W. Colton though. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:06, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kent W. Colton

edit

As a follow-on to my inquiry, I am receiving the following message when attempting to create the page titled Kent W. Colton: "The page title or edit you have tried to create has been restricted to administrators at this time. It matches an entry on the local or global blacklists, which is usually used to prevent vandalism." I received the response that it is okay to create the page, but do I need to have an administrator create the page? I have all of the information ready to post.Dinman01 (talk) 17:38, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
