Original – The galaxy NGC 1097
Reason
Good quality large photo of the galaxy NGC 1097. I swapped this image from the gallery with the previous lead image because this image is sharper.

I don't see a bright stripe. What browser are you using? --Pine 18:50, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked in my browser at full resolution and in an image editor with a zoom of over 1000%. I don't see any stripes. I tried to click on that toolserver link but it opens a blank page for me. --Pine 20:45, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I'm not describing it well enough. It's not a well-defined band, it's an increase in the amount of (for lack of a better word) bright-coloured static. If you're zoomed in THAT much, you'll never see it. (though there is a band of that type just right of the small... companion galaxy, is that? - in the upper left.
