- Reason
- Rather relevant right now, and the details are (presumably) accurate - it's by the CDC after all, visually appealing, and educational.
- Articles in which this image appears
- too many to count, but Coronavirus, List of epidemics, and Coronavirus disease 2019 will do for a start.
- FP category for this image
- Wikipedia:Featured pictures/Other seems to have at least one virus. We might want to spin it out.

- Couldn't they have used focus stacking to get better sharpness? ;-) Support --Janke | Talk 09:14, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Weak oppose Will support if a version without the synthetic depth of field can be found. cmɢʟee⎆τaʟκ 10:18, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- My comment above was in jest (note the ";-)"). In fact, the shallow DOF helps you better perceive the spherical shape. --Janke | Talk 10:35, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Comment – Is it just me, or is the perspective one would expect with a spherical object distorted? – Sca (talk) 14:19, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- It depends on the virtual focal length of the generating software. Assuming it's rather long (like a few hundred micrometers ;-) I see no problem there. Also, this is the orthographic type of perspective you get with a telecentric lens. --Janke | Talk 20:16, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support: Highly informative and high EV. Fits all the criteria on WP:WIAFP. In my opinion, the colors used and the virus itself do not make for an aesthetically pleasing image. However, that's not a criterion for FP. Bait30 Talk 2 me pls? 20:41, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
