Wikidata workshop at Wellington City Archives
  • After returning to Wellington on January 8th, I've been based in the Scholar's Office in the National Library of New Zealand. I've made several presentations to staff, met with different teams, and run weekly drop-in sessions. We're looking at the following projects:
    • Uploading 68 high resolution George Raper watercolours from 1788–1790
    • Creating a "NLNZ person" Wikidata property and adding 2000 records to Mix'n'Match
    • Nearly 80,000 1920–1988 photographs, mostly aerial photography, to be released under CC0 or CC BY licences
    • An event in Whanganui later this year to celebrate the extension of Papers Past coverage from 1920 to 1950
  • Meetings with the Department of Conservation to discuss moving parts of their image library to Commons, and creating a pilot project of nearly 2000 scanned slides of the Subantarctics by P.J. Moors. Revising the TCS article and templates.
  • Several small meetups and workshops, and a well-publicised event hosted by the National Library to work on NZ comics and cartoon artists; a follow up edit-a-thon will be happening in March.
