Why Wikipedia?editIn recent years this editable internet encyclopedia in many language versions (English, French, German, Swahili..) has been widely used as a reference. For example, the Dutch articles w:nl:Feminisme and w:nlAletta Jacobs article Africa have been consulted 7120 and 8359 times respectively last November. For researchers, students, information specialists and amateurs wishing to share their expertise with the public at large, Wikipedia is an appropriate medium. However, editors of Wikipedia need to understand the special working principles of this medium. In the short course Introducing Wikipedia we discuss these topics. Please register as a editor (user) of Wikipedia by clicking the Register button in the topmost right corner of any Wikipedia page, especially if you join us at the Writing session. Of course you remain free to contribute or not and you will not be spammed.
