Australian National Botanic Gardens opening hours

Hello,

I am writing on behalf of the Australian National Botanic Gardens about an error listed on our information that appears to the right on the google search page that links to the Wikipedia page. The information states that we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but in fact we are open from 8.30am - 5.00 pm every day except Christmas day.

As far as I can see, there is nothing about opening hours on the Wikipedia article. So it's possible that the data was from another source. Wikipedia does not have any control over what appears at Google's Knowledge Graph. --Glaisher [talk] 05:27, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Google can be made aware of errors on the Australian National Botanic Gardens Google search page by clicking on "Feedback / More info" at the bottom of the information box and then clicking "Wrong?" for the piece of information that is wrong.--Melburnian (talk) 10:03, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Removal of external references

I posted external links to image galleries that are on topic on several entries, from AMARG to the SS United States. I noticed recently that all of these links were removed. They were not spam, and I have noticed dozens of other articles with links to external references of other websites with image galleries. This is very frustrating and it feels that the ones I am posting are being unfairly singled out. I have read the guide on posting external links but I am not sure why some image galleries relating to subjects are deemed OK while others are not, when the content and style of delivery are very similar.

At Scranton Lace Company you have added a link to two small images with no explanatory text. This is well below the standard I would expect for an external link. The other two external links from that article have far more interesting and relevant content. Maproom (talk) 13:00, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

After school page Neo Ttaemun-e Name change to fit?

Hello,

I am in the process of cleaning up a music groups pages to make them easier to locate for fans. There is one page Neo Ttaemun-ethat has an automatic filter, and it wont let me change the title to the english name of the song "Because of You (After School Song)" So i can make the page match the other after school pages. There are behind-the-scenes checks in place to stop new-ish accounts moving too many pages too quickly. According to this log, that's why you couldn't move the page. You did well to post here. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:14, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Item with no article on a disambiguation page

Dear editors: Because I accepted an article about a person named Jeff Ellis at the Afc, I then had to create a disambiguation page, Jeff Ellis (disambiguation). Another editor has added an item to the page Jeff Ellis (disambiguation), referencing the name of a musician, Donald Hazelwood. There was a rather promotional half=sentence about this bowmaker in the article, referenced to his own web site. Huon removed both the sentence and the item on the disambiguation page. The same user has reverted the disambiguation edit, apparently because policy says that if another article has a redlink, then the disambiguation page can have one too. Now there is another redlink, just created, at Richard Tognetti, which also has a sentence referenced by the bowmaker's own web site. I haven't done much work with disambiguation pages, but this all seems promotional to me. Before removing both items, as Huon did, I would like some input from someone who understands disambiguation rules. —Anne Delong (talk) 08:30, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

 DoneDon't worry about the Disambig rules, those are all trumped by WP:NOTADVERTISING. It was promotional material, including an unreliable reference that pointed to the manufacturer's own website. Have removed them. - X201 (talk) 08:43, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I see that Donald Hazelwood article has only three references – the first one doesn't mention him (though it mentions a quartet of the same name), and the other two don't exist. Maybe someone less busy than me can look into this? Maproom (talk) 13:07, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Albert Kitson

Hi Editors, Please alter the 4th reference for the article - Albert Kitson, 2nd Baron Airedale. The reference is from the London Gazette - Supplement (dated September 27th, 1911), page 7117, but it is the "Supplement for the Coronation of George V - a list of Peers of the Realm who paid Homage to the Sovereign at Westminster Abbey on June 22nd, 1911" I was wrong thinking that the reference was relating to the Investiture of the Prince of Wales.

I've removed the tag, though the second paragraph isn't explicitly sourced yet. For reference 4, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. If you click "Edit source" at the top of the article, you will see that the reference is defined by a call to {{cite web}} with fields title, url, and so on. Main Page says "virtual librarians" about volunteers who answer questions at Wikipedia:Reference desk. If that's what you have in mind then see also Wikipedia:Reference desk/Guidelines. Unfortunately noone noticed that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Longmont Public Library was missing a submission template at the top. I have added the template so you can submit it for review with the green button, but I suggest you first look at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and try to find more sources. Company Information Outdated

First, read WP:COI, then use the article's talk page to suggest changes to the article -- you are strongly discourage from making changes to the article yourself. And please remember it is not your company's "wiki page", it is a Wikipedia article about your company.--ukexpat (talk) 15:17, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Permanent Deletion

Let us answer the question - No, there is no way you can pay to control information in Wikipedia.
Assuming you are referring to the conviction of Mike Bronzoulis, this seems well sourced, so why are you describing it as "inaccurate"? - Arjayay (talk) 16:41, 5 August 2013 (UTC).

Removing {{user sandbox}} from top of page

Hey there! I was trying to remove/edit {{user sandbox}} from the top of my page and I am unable to. Could you give me a heads up on how to do this?

An IP user seems to have removed it in this edit, but it is not clear why you wanted to remove it. That template reminds you and everyone else that it is a user sandbox, and gives you the link to click when you wish to submit it for review to turn it into a real Wikipedia article.

Cite Error

Hello. I am writing an article and trying to add citations. The following error is coming up when I save: "Cite error: The opening <ref> tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page)." The citation isn't formatted correctly. The format is <ref>(text of citation</ref>. Currently, you have </ref> but no <ref>. Howicus (talk) 17:17, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi

On your page sex shop about 3/4 down the page it says online retailers. It mentions a few web sites and a very popular English one. I thought I would add ours and link it to our page on your site as it tells people about us. As I have read you can do so as everyone else has. So I created an account done everything properly this time as I bothered reading your guidelines. My account now does not exist? and I had a warning I cant do what other people have done? Well, those examples were not added by the owners of those websites, but by uninvolved editors. Also, your shop does not have a Wikipedia article, correct? It should only go on that page if it has its own article, and probably not even then. Howicus (talk) 17:28, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Their company name links to them to their info what does it matter if I want to put our name in and link it to our page? it was on your site telling people about ourselves. Well, Wikipedia has all kinds of policies regarding what can have a Wikipedia article. Every Wikipedia article needs significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. My global name is Yiyi, but on en.wikipedia there is an user with this nikname (User:Yiyi), with only 3 contributions dated ugust 2005. So, I created another user on en.wikipedia (User:Bustocco). How To Update the picture on our page

I am trying to change the Seventeen MagazineSeventeen (magazine) picture to a more recent cover of the magazine. Sandbox help

I authored the article in the English Wikipedia on KARL LENNERT. Upon publication, it was redirected from my sandbox. What is a U. S. Marine Brigade by Sam Savage

I was a united states marine form 1957 to 1960. I was looking for some information about one of the units I was in and didn't make much head way. I assume that was because no one has taken the time to give you this information. The subject matter I was looking for was about the number of pilots in a U. S. Marine Air Group. I looked at several pages of Wikipedia information and did not get the answer to my question. I also found that the information on the the Marine units I was looking at was pretty skimpy. The first question I asked was what was the First Marine Brigade, your answer was something like "a Brigade is a Military unit made up of two or more smaller units". The correct answer is; The First Marine Brigade of the 1950s and '60s was a Marine Air Group (in this case MAG 13) which was made up of some fixed wing ground attack and some rotory wing transport air craft combined with a reinforced infantry regiment (The Fourth Marine Regiment in this case.) The reinforcement consisted of an Ontos battalion (see below), an amtrak (Landing Vehicle Track) company, a force recon company and some even smaller attached units. The Ontos was a light tracked vehicle with six 106MM recoiless rifles mounted on a small turret on top of it. It was originally designed as a semi high rate of fire anti-tank weapon but was soon found to be an efficient anti-bunker and with white-phosphorus rounds a terrable anti perssonel weapon. I was a squad leader in the 106MM recoiless rifle platoon,first battalion, 4th Marines. I had one 106 R/R mounted on a jeep. The amtrak was an lightly armored amphibious tracked vehicle used basiclly by the Marine Corps to transport troops from LSTs and troop transports to the shore when assaultting a beech. Having tracks it could take the troops up to the tree line and/or dunes before unloading them, giving them a better chance at survival than a landing craft. their biggest draw-back was their slow rate of travel in water and on land. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.214.101.222 (talk) 22:36, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
