Have you tried Wikipedia's Reference Desk? They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer just about any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what this Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. I hope this helps. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:17, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My dad used to just pinch their paws sideways, that seemed to teach them a after a few times. Lightly is usually all it takes.--Canoe1967 (talk) 23:39, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is R.A. the Rugged Man, I continue to send e-mail messages with no response. I want the wikipedia page that is written about me removed. I do not approve the constant false and private information that continues to go up on the page. This is my life and you are falsely representing me through your website. Wikipedia is the first thing that anyone reads when they google something and it is violating my rights. I do not want my name on your website anymore.

Since this page has gone up it continues to be bombarded with false and private information. It has been non stop through out the years since this page about me was created. Having false information constantly posted up as facts on this page is a violation. You can have some one contact me direct <redacted> and when they contact me I can leave a phone number so we can get this resolved and the page gets deleted. You can not continue to violate the rights of hard working people just because wikipedia is a known organization.

Locking the site does not protect my page from the "registered users". I do not want to be part of wikipedia, they already violated and slandered my name on too many occasions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RAThorburn (talkcontribs) 01:14, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Being dealt with at Talk:R.A. the Rugged Man#Edit request on 10 February 2013. Basically, I have reviewed WP:BIODEL an have concluded that the subject is a public figure, and therefore I am not inclined to a do a good faith deletion nomination. Need help moving/renaming an article

edit

I need someone's help to move/rename the article NG.DEV.TEAM to NG:DEV.TEAM (colon replacing one of the periods). That is how they list it on their site: http://www.ngdevteam.com/. I'm not sure how to do this. Thanks. TEH (talk contributions) 03:58, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is not technically possible to start a pagename with "NG:" because NG: is the interlanguage link to the Ndonga language Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (technical restrictions)#Colons. {{Correct title}} could be used in the article. PrimeHunter (talk) 04:12, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. TEH (talk contributions) 04:27, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is much erroneous negative information that appears contesting this group or organization that really needs to be rectified in an objective intellectual manner which the accompanying article by Anthony Cox neesd to be challenged. This article should be investigated completely as I find it appaling that it would be considered as a part of the subject.

First of all I was involved from 1960 on and found nothing but helpful individuals within the group. It seems to me that he has done nothing but run from one thing or another all the while using the rationalization that his logic is the only one and the correct one. He was probably involved in The Banana Patch in Maui and blew his brains out with the drugs he was using.

I never knew Mr. Stevens to pray for the death of any person whether important a major player in politics or any other advocation.

I do not know how your comment page works but if this is not the correct place to post this please send me an e-mail as to how you need it to be done.

If necessary I am more than free to have a long term discussion with anyone on the subject so that the truth of the matter can be displayed properly.

Thank you for the opportunity,

Bill — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billymilly (talkcontribs) 05:20, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a third party publication that confirms what you are saying here? All information in the article is appropriately sourced. Ruslik_Zero 11:43, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fretfest

edit

Hi - I asked a colleague of mine to go ahead and create a page on Wiki for people who wanted to know about Fretfest which is a singer songwriter showcase in Queensland. In creating the page, we agreed it would be best to copy information, directly from our own website, so as to avoid confusion and eliminate any double talk. He did this with my permission, however, the page has been immediately halted via "speedy deletion nomination of FretFest. (TW) due to what appears to be gratuitous promotion of my company and/or copyright infringement.

I am at a loss to understand how to overturn this and get on with creating a useful page on Wiki that informs people about Fretfest which we suggest is similar to American Idol and many of the other Talent Quests in that we simply reveal and promote young musicians.

Q. Can you confirm what steps we can take to recetify the problem?

Al Buchan Director Fretfest Pty Ltd (Aust) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fretfest (talkcontribs) 07:46, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you work through the FAQ page for businesses and organisations, which will explain the issues more clearly than I can here. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:11, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but the main step you can take to rectify the problem is to stop trying to use Wikipedia for an inappropriate purpose. See WP:NOTPROMOTION. --ColinFine (talk) 16:54, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is there an article or projectpage that lists attempts to sue Wikipedia or actual courtcases of that kind? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:02, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jan Mak

Date of birth incorrect. 21.06.1945 is OK. Jan Mak — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.58.198.31 (talk) 13:56, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a reliable published source? Are you Jan Mak? If you are then you should know the birth date but Wikipedia requires published sources. [1] says 20.03.1948 like our article Jan Mak did before an editor changed it to the day you state. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:07, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That was I. Do we have a source now? It didn't have one so I assumed Mr. Mak would know best.--Canoe1967 (talk) 14:09, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but we cannot simply accept a poster's word here Canoe1967, please read WP:V and WP:RS. Roger (talk) 17:06, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Roger, no evidence this is a Jan Mak at all, let alone the Jan Mak we have an article on. I move we restore the previously sourced DOB. GiantSnowman 10:06, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We only have one article by that name. I feel we should leave no date until we have an ironclad source. Err on the side of caution so we don't make a big mess as was done at Henry E. Emerson in the last few days.--Canoe1967 (talk) 10:19, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Plenty of sources say 1948 - see Google - and this one is widely used/respected across Wikipedia. GiantSnowman 10:26, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The TDI link is incorrect and should be changed to www.tdipower.com. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.67.182.196 (talk) 18:03, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. We don't use external links in that place and we don't have an article about TDI Power so I have made a red link.[2] PrimeHunter (talk) 20:54, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

edit

Why is it that in the article Horst Wessel there's a picture of him and on Horst-Wessel-Lied there's another picture of him cuter? cuter apart from all the horrible things that the Nazis did. I am completely anti-Nazi. Kotjap (talk) 21:53, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I guess, because some editor who worked on the first article preferred the first picture, and another editor who worked on the second article preferred the second. Anyway, cuteness is not normally a criterion for selecting pictures here. (Personally, I find neither picture in the least cute, YMMV). Maproom (talk) 23:02, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you think an article can be improved, you're welcome to work on it, or (if you're unsure, or your change might be controversial) to start a discussion on the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 00:15, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Talk page for Horst Wessel explains the rationale for using that picture on Horst Wessel: it's the the official Nazi Party photo of him and the most recognisable public image. But feel free to debate on the article talk page. --Colapeninsula (talk) 15:24, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the ongoing, juvenile vandalism at Wiz Khalifa, can someone please request that it be protected? I went to WP:RFP and couldn't figure out exactly how to do it. Thanks. --76.189.111.199 (talk) 23:25, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.. --Jayron32 23:34, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. If the vandalism continues after it expires, can you please protect it for a longer period? --76.189.111.199 (talk) 23:51, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'll keep an eye on it, but if I miss it, ping me on my user talk page and I'll take a look. --Jayron32 05:48, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
